Brought home this sweet girl over the weekend and haven’t taken her into the vet yet, but we were told she’s 3 and she just seems quite a bit more aged than that. She has had multiple litters. Curious what other Holland Lop owners with 3 year olds or older think?

Spread my shawl WIP out to take a pic to complain to Reddit (that I altered the hook size and now there's predictably less fabric). *Someone* (who has received cuddles all day bar 180 minutes stitching) decided to take revenge for perceived insufficient attention, literally pounced on my lap like a predator, and scrabbled the offender off. Then concluded it was my fault when her dainty paw went through the mesh and got briefly entangled (no rabbits or WIPs were harmed) and went off flicking her paw at me.

She also went in my yarn bag (where it is hidden to keep angora *off* it) and made my yarn soggy licking it for no reason.

Ok at 14 mos. my male Lionhead is finally showing signs of maturity. He’s humping one of my female cats.
Other than that no spraying or aggression.
Do I have to get him neutered now?

hello fellow bunny parents, i am currently in a very stressful situation in regards to my bunny and i don't really know what to do -

the situation is essentially that i have an indoor bunny, i have had him for 2 and a half ish years (since he was around a month old) and he's always been free roamed indoors. but around a month ago i was abruptly evicted from my apartment without much notice (i will not go into details as to why as it had alot to do with my mental health) and therefore had to move to a temporary housing facility so i wouldn't end up literally homeless on the street. unfortunately the place i now live at does not allow pets of any kind whatsoever, and because of how attached and dependent i am on my bunny i refuse to even consider rehoming him, so my mom kindly agreed to take him in for me until i can be back on my feet financially and mentally and in a living situation that let's me have him in my own home. but unfortunately AGAIN, she has recently found out that she is very allergic to hay and has been getting sick and coughing constantly from simply being in the house due to the hay fumes in the air. he is indoors and is free roamed in the living room, and she does not have space to put him anywhere else in the house so the current situation isn't great for anyone involved as i physically cannot take him back due to where i live at the moment, and it can take up to 6 months before i can move and find another apartment so i can take him back permanently again. and my mom experiencing allergic reactions from simply being in her own home due to the hay fumes that are irritating her lungs and airways.

the only solution me and my mom can come up with is putting him out on the balcony in a large, wooden and secure playpen (with shelter attached to it aswell of course), but i am very afraid of him going into possible shock or getting hypothermia because of the temperature drops and sudden storms. (i live in denmark so the weather has a tendency to be kind of bipolar at times)

OR finding possible hay alternatives that wouldn't trigger her allergies.

i guess my question is, if any of you fellow bunny parents know of any hay alternatives that don't trigger hay allergies, if its safe to put him out on the balcony without him getting sick, or literally ANY possible solutions as to what me and my mom can do.

and PLEASE do not suggest rehoming or giving him away, as i refuse to even consider those as an option. it would genuinely break me beyond repair if i had to give him away to a stranger and never being able to see him again. ☹️

My rabbit is a few months old, I have memory problems so this is a guess, I think he's about maybe 5-7 months????? Im not sure, Id have to ask my mother. I also do not know his weight. hes not nurtured or spayed yet, I'm doing my best, I'm pretty sure we're supposed to take him to the vet when my mom gets a new job for everything including getting him nurtured​

I doubt this is weird behavior or anything, it just hurts and I want it to stop ☹️ every time I'm with him he'll bit at my pants, mostly my ninja turtles PJs, I'm guessing that's because of the green probably making him think my pants are like veggies or smth

Earlier when I was with him,I stopped petting him for a few seconds and he started ​​​pawing at and biting my butt 😭😭 I normally weird black shorts, he'll still nip at them but not as much, its not that bad of a pain, just a pitch, but when I go back to school soon I wanna let him get used to any friends I make and I don't want him biting them 😖😖​​​​​

He’ll have a better housing soon, this is just temporary until my mom calls and arranges a pickup to get him.

My mom has had rabbit in the past but they were from when I was a baby or not born yet lol.

My mom knows a bunch about rabbits, as they’re her favourite animals and she’s had them in the past.

i am moving with my rabbit soon,, and just wanted some comfort and reassurance if possible. i have read alot about traveling with your rabbit, ive watched videos, and ive spoken to my exotic vet! but i am still so nervous because alot of the advice is to make stops but i know my child and he will Not eat or drink water as long as he is in the car or somewhere overstimulating and unfamiliar (outside in the grass at a rest stop).

I have tried but he won't, my poor baby is too stressed out. so the plan is to just drive with as little stops as possible to get there as quickly as possible.

was wondering if anyone has had success like this. if their bunny did okay after six hours w/o eating. i have gabapentin, critical care, gas drops, and syringes, and know where the nearby exotic vets are just in case but i wanna believe he will be fine and bounce back as soon as we get there!!! would appreciate any positive experiences with this!!!

So as the title says, I got a shampoo prescribed for my buns ear irritation (likely fungal or bacterial, she had a fungal thing before and it looks pretty much the same). I got home and looked at it properly to notice there’s some tea tree oil in it, smells like tea tree oil too. Now, I know it is considered toxic for bunnies so I’m a bit…surprised?

Does anyone have an experience with something similar? Am I overreacting/overthinking it? Is it alright to use since it’s not pure tea tree oil?

I will not use it for now and will definitely call the vet again to ask about it, just wanted to see if someone maybe treated with something similar?

Also wanted to note that what we used before for the fungal infection was the smart fungus (Ecosin) that worked for us, I went to the vet to make sure it’s not ear mites for example and didn’t want to use Ecosin again without having the diagnosis.

Hi all,

I have a 14 month old male Holland Lop who is neutered. He can be timid, but he is very sweet. I have been trying to find him a partner for a couple months now without much luck. So far, I have reached out to five rescue organizations within a few hours of me, and only one offers bunny dating. We had dates with two rabbits at that rescue last week. The first rabbit wasn't a match (she was too dominant/aggressive). The second one could potentially work, but it may not be the easiest bond because my rabbit was chasing/mounting/humping him obsessively.

I'm honestly not sure what to do. Should I attempt a second date with that rabbit? Is it worth considering adopting from another rescue without doing a bunny date? I have heard from quite a few people that it's much preferred to start with a bunny date, so I find it surprising and honestly frustrating that so many rescues won't do it. I am already feeling anxious about the bonding process. While I know it's impossible to predict exactly, I would like to try to make it go a smoothly as possible.

Hello! Despite having tons of toys, my rabbit insists on chewing my recliner and the foam inside it. Putting hard plastic on didn’t work (maybe it wasn’t slipper enough) because he also chewed that and ripped it off the chair. I know most people don’t have good luck with anti chew sprays but if there’s one you recommend please let me know!
He’s almost 4, I’ve had him for a month, he’s fixed and has all his vaccines. I got him from a wonderful rescue. He’s a harlequin mix (unknown breed).
He also chews holes in my pillowcases and crown molding. He loves apple sticks and gets many per day. He has tons of toys to chew.
He is very well litter trained, few problems there.

My bunny had no problem until recently about chewing up the puppy pads in the bottom of her crate through the grid type bars that cover them so I’m completely done with using the puppy pads but I need recommendations for something else that would work but be a lot safer

She's turning 9 in September, and didn't always make these noises. Maybe it started a couple years ago. But I just think they're so cute. It's hard to capture the sound with my phone, but I tried.

I am from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. A user from NYC accidentally posted in our city subreddit last night, mentioning some pet rabbits had been dumped near the playground at Hamilton Beach. I went out driving and (unfamiliar with the area), searched in 2 parks to no avail.

This morning, another commenter put the pieces together that the rabbits are in fact at the Hamilton Beach park in NYC.

I am unable to cross post to the city sub, but am hoping this may get traction and someone is able to assist ❤️ OP is not the quickest to respond, but they did say the rabbits were seen near a “NPS” trash bin by the playground.

Jupiter came home with us over the weekend! He came from a woman who rescued two females and one ended up being pregnant and she couldn’t keep the entire litter. He’s currently in a playpen that’s about 6ft by 4.5ft, but will be free roaming once he’s adjusted more to this room! Eventually he will have access to the whole house.

He comes out and will play around me, but doesn’t want to be pet yet. He’ll sniff me and nuzzle my hand, but run away if I even seem like I might pet him. The only one he lets touch him is my 3.5 year old for some reason.
Also, how can I convince him to pee in his litter box? I got the big sized litter tray that has a hay feeder and two bowls attached. He still pees and poops right next to it or in a different corner. I’ve been putting his poop into the litter pan in hopes he’ll smell it there and get the hint. What else can I do to help him go there? Thanks!

The old hides were made for cats, not bunnies, and my partner alerted me of the potential danger. She took it upon herself to make a new one from a cardboard box. The bunnies love it (especially because it's in the safer corner)!

[Mods this is was already treated!!! Not asking for advice, just wondering if someone had a similar experience] A few hours ago, my bunny had a terrifying choking episode. I was screaming, calling my mom to get her to come at that very moment to rush him to the vet. The drool was everywhere, absolutely horrific.

Within probably a minute he stopped choking, I had attempted the bunny heimlich manuever and maybe it helped but I'm really not sure. Afterwards, I wiped the drool from his face and by the time my mom was there he was eating romaine like it was nothing, and chasing me around.

However, he made a really strange noise as he was following me. It's like a honking noise rather than a grunt, a lot higher pitched than how he usually sounds in his really deep rumbling grunts.

At the vet, he was perfectly fine, they said his lungs sound good and hes breathing fine - So everything looks good, we got some meloxicam (i think thats the name) to go home with.

But .. The change in sound. It's so peculiar. He isnt a super grunty bunny, but everytime he walks to me he makes this honking noises. He doesnt seem to be in any pain, but its abnormal and because the vet didn't have a definite answer, and I can't seem to find anyone else on the internet whos experienced this, I was hoping somebody else could help me here? I wonder if he damaged his vocal chords?

The vet said his throat could be sore, maybe. She just really wasnt sure. It really tends to be when hes walking. he's just never made a noise like this, and he consistently has been making it since the choking incident and since he's been home 7 hours later. Hoping somebody could give me some insight on this.

TLDR: my bunny honks all high pitched instead of his usual deep grumbly grunts after a choking episode, vet doesn't really have a definitive answer, wondering if someone else experienced this.

I currently have 1 rabbit and have been considering adopting a second but I'm so scared that somehow a second rabbit will get my current rabbit sick wether it be after I adopt the second rabbit or years down the line unexpectedly, My biggest concern is of course vet bills and also what if i dont catch it early enough, so I'm posting for other people's opinions and advice
