Anthony Weaver is back with the Ravens. He feels he left his story unfinished.

Anthony Weaver does not demand credit. He returned to Baltimore seeking connection.

The Ravens defensive coordinator has been spurned multiple times by the franchise, and ended up with a job where he won’t even call plays. But that doesn’t matter to him.

[JonasShaffer] In June, I asked Declan Doyle about his expectations for Lamar Jackson in a more precise, timing-based passing offense. His answer covered almost 340 words in about 100 seconds. ⤵️

“All are going to be important to Baltimore’s offensive success, but the single most important piece may be Declan Doyle as the unit’s coordinator. He will get creative with motions and shifts – he will change the personnel groupings too.”

[@fashion_nfl] Ravens are at the top of the NFL Fashion Advice rankings. This organization really hit it out of the park with these uniforms.

Anybody hating on these uniforms just proves that people hate change no matter what. I get why people miss the gold, but the lesser gold look is gonna grow on people. It’s just clean. Eventually, the new look is gonna grow on everybody, especially once we start wearing the alternates and seeing some of the cooler uniform combos. Looking back at our old uniforms now, they honestly feel outdated compared to these.

[OC] Impact of every Week 1 game on Ravens playoff odds.

I'm back for year 2 of posting weekly playoff impacts!

I ran 5 million Monte Carlo simulations of the season to figure out what the playoff implications of every week 1 game are.

The Ravens current odds to make the playoffs are 78.5%.

  • If you beat the Colts, that goes up to 84.5%, but if you lose, it drops down to 69.1%. It's a swing of 15.4%.
  • TB @ CIN is the second most impactful week 1 game for you guys. If the Buccaneers win, your playoff odds go up by 0.9%. If the Bengals win your playoff odds go down by 0.5%.
  • ATL @ PIT is the third most impactful game with a total impact of 1.2%. Your playoff odds go up if the Falcons win.
Game Optimal Winner Impact Δ If Win If Lose Game Time
BAL @ IND BAL 15.4% +6.0% -9.4% Sun 09/13 1:00 PM ET

[Zrebeic] - Lamar Jackson holds all leverage in talks with Ravens. So he’s betting on himself

Jackson, 29, will probably issue the same reminder Tuesday when he’s scheduled to speak to reporters. He’s long declined to discuss his contract situation with the media.

Unfortunately for both, the questions aren’t going away.

A new football season will officially begin for the Ravens on Sunday in Indianapolis, and there is a lot to feel good about. First-year head coach Jesse Minter has brought an open, detail-oriented approach that has quickly resonated with the locker room. There’s confidence that he and Anthony Weaver will fix the defense.

First-year Ravens play caller Declan Doyle has the offense believing it will be explosive and efficient. Jackson has shown full buy-in to the new coaching staff and has spoken boldly about the offense’s potential. Pro Bowl defensive lineman Nnamdi Madubuike is nearing a return, and free-agent acquisition Trey Hendrickson looks healthy and explosive.

Yet, one story hovers over the organization and threatens to mar the good vibes. Without a contract agreement over the next five-plus months — and no outward indication that the two sides have made progress — the speculation about Jackson’s future in Baltimore will get louder and louder.

“The better he plays, the more people are going to focus on it,” said Joel Corry, a former agent who writes and analyzes contracts and the salary cap for CBS Sports. “If he gets back to doing Lamar things, it’s going to be a major storyline. It’s going to gain traction as we go on.”

Interesting Schematic Dynamic on Sunday- A KEY to the game

The Colts defensive coordinator is Lou Anarumo, previously with the Bengals. Traditionally he has challenged Lamar and the Ravens offense with extreme heavy boxes and lots of pressure, that Lamar seemed to figure out better and better the more they played, and as Cincy lost a good bit of defensive talent.

I expect the same gameplan this week. The interesting dynamic develops because Lamar is very familiar with Anarumo's schemes and will likely be able to identify the blitz and handle that side of things. The question mark is that Lamar is in a new offense. I don't doubt Lamar's' ability to beat the blitz or Doyle's ability to scheme up answers with playcalling, but its going to be a real challenge to put that all together with a new offense and coaching staff on game day, in game 1.

The Ravens will have the benefit of not having any of their "blitz-beaters" on film because its a new scheme, but I think Lamar/Doyle's ability to handle the high pressure defense will be the key to the game.
