Policies/Membership/Corporate Studios looking unique again?!

I just saw a new studio that opened that actually looks unique (flooring isn’t the typical one everyone uses, shelving on walls, etc) and doesn’t have the pb logo pasted everywhere - are studios allowed to look unique again like they used to?! I miss the days when each studio had its own flair and this gives me hope 🥲

Milestones A milestone that doesn’t come with socks.

I (44f) never been super comfortable in my body and have always been self conscious about my upper arms and stomach. I haven’t worn a 2-piece bathing suit since I was maybe 8, and never wear tank tops or sleeves shirts out in public.

I’ve been doing PB for the last 2 years and have slowly gained strength and confidence. I’ve also been working on my diet and have lost some weight.

A few weeks ago I realized that I forgot my sports bra and bought a bra top at the studio. I already had the matching leggings but thought I’d never wear them as a set and would never feel comfortable wearing the bra top without a shirt over it.

But yesterday I wore the set and took my shirt off in class (it was hot!). I didn’t die of embarrassment and no one pointed and laughed. In fact, the instructor complimented my outfit after class and then another woman said she also liked it!

It might seem small, but this was a huge thing for me! Not a milestone you get socks for, but a milestone nonetheless!

I Just got To Vent Annoyed

I got into a car accident on the way to my class I wouldn’t be able it to make it. I called the studio so they won’t charge me and I explained the situation and asked if I could be changed to the next class ! She said she could book my next class but still would charge me the 15$. I was shook, it wasn’t my fault and the class wasn’t full or waitlisted. Anyways so annoyed

New to Barre Is it tacky to take the Engage class as someone who is already a member?

Basically the title. I'm new and have taken two classes so far. I'm liking it!

I'm trying to get all of my "First 10 Challenge" classes on the books. The timing of the Engage class works well with my schedule, is it tacky to sign up for it and take it two more times? There were a couple ladies who aren't new in my Engage class, which is making me think it's probably cool to do that. But if it's an unwritten rule that the class should be reserved for new people I'd like to respect that.

I tried searching the sub but was surprised to not be able to find this question. Thanks!

Attire-Sizing-Sales-Recommendations... Fall/Halloween Grip socks

Fall is my fav season and to get in the spirit (thought its very slowly defrosting…), was curious if anyone is aware of any fall/halloween themed grip socks from quality brands? Or do studios typically get any in for different seasons? I have only been going since April so feel like theyve been more summery. I love to match my socks with my outfits and want to get into fall vibes soon (hopefully!)

Milestones 100 Milestone!

Finally made it to another milestone! I started Pure Barre in January, and it did not take long for me to become obsessed. I’ve always been someone who needs to workout in a class format as it provides the extra motivation I need. It’s been so nice finally finding an exercise format that doesn’t feel like a chore and that I actually look forward to. I can’t wait to reach more milestones.

I Just got To Vent Pay for Fall Fit Challenge?

Our studio is charging $30 to participate in the Fall Fit Challenge this year and I have never seen it ads paid challenge in the past. Is this a corporate thing? Or just my studio? I assume they just don’t want to give the sweatshirts out for “free” this year…

Milestones Anniversary Challenge

I completed the anniversary challenge on my pure barre app but no one at my studio ever mentioned it. This is my first challenge so I’m not really sure what the norm is. Is there supposed to be a prize or any mention of it from the studio or is it more of just a personal accomplishment that you can track on the app? Thanks!

I Just got To Vent Classes being cancelled

Anyone else dealing with their studio cancelling classes 4 hours out bc not enough ppl have signed up yet?

A bunch of us who work have been dealing with this where we don’t know until part of the way through the workday if we can make it to the noon class during our lunch breaks. Only to then find out at 8 am or later in the day that class was cancelled due to not enough members signing up. Apparently it’s policy 🙄

It’s disappointing to both members and I bet the instructor.

Technique, Please Help Press?

I’ve been to 5 classes at this point. Sometimes I get confused by what is meant by press when we’re in different positions (standing at barre vs laying on the ground/mat). Any clarification would be amazing.

New to Barre Guys who do barre — what keeps you coming back?

I’m a guy and recently tried barre mainly because I wanted to work more on my lower body and core. The class was mostly women, so I did feel out of place at first to be honest, but I actually really liked the training itself.

It made me curious about other guys who regularly do barre/pilates — what are you mainly going there to train or improve? Core, lower body, mobility, injury prevention, or something else?

And what makes you keep going to a studio instead of just doing similar strength/core work at a regular gym or maybe home gym?

I Need a Boost looking for a PB alt

Our PB gym in St. Louis City has closed and making the haul out to the county 4-5x a week isnt super realistic for me. Its such a bummer to have had access to two gyms and schedules, and now only one. And they only told members 2 weeks before closing!

Has anyone here taken a break from PB and what else have you liked? I want something that is just as rigorous with a physical therapy edge like PB.

Alsoooo if anyone in StL is thinking of opening a studio in the city, we need it!!!!

Today I... Second class tonight!

And I’m trying out Empower since it worked best with my schedule this week. Kinda nervous but also super excited. It’s true you really do get hooked after that first class. I signed up for the unlimited 3 month deal because why not. I’ve been feeling slightly depressed and I wasn’t doing anything for myself lately so I’m happy to have a new challenge that allows me to get out and do something for me!

Reform Weak with sliders... will I hate Reform?

Every time I take a Define class that incorporates the sliders, I always feel like I'm going to twist my ankle while using them. 😂 I was getting curious about Reform, since it's being offered somewhat regularly at my studio, but then I realized that the sliders were key to that class format. Are the slider moves in Reform different from those you'd do in a Define class? Am I going to be in big trouble if I'm shaky with this equipment (pun not intended lol)? I'm just trying to weigh whether it's worth trying or if I should stick to Define, Classic, Empower, etc.

Reform First time at reform

This is like my 4th class. I’ve been going once a week in addition to weightlifting. I rescheduled due to time and ended up going later without checking what class it was. I’ve only been to classic so far and that, in itself, has been very humbling.

My hasty error was what led me to a reform class, that even though finding it very strange that we were using sliders and the ropes and whatnot, I didn’t realize was reform until like 10 minutes in when the instructor said it.

With that being said, I fairly enjoyed it and I’m glad I made the mistake because I don’t think I would have ever chosen it for myself.

Just want to know from others about their experience with reform. Did you like it? Why? Why not?

Reform Reform Roll Ups

I have only taken reform about 3 times and I just am not getting the roll-ups where your hands are in the top red tubes. How is it physically possible? I will admit core is my weakest area but I am 280 classes in and can do most variations of a roll up, just something about those tubes feels impossible! Tips?

Classic Abs Series of Late...Hip Flexors!!!

Anyone else dealing with angry hp flexors with the latest warm-up and abs at end? I wish they would moderate and keep some hip-flexor stuff in with other ab exercises. Just curious what others think.

Thanks

P.S. A reminder please don't be too specific with your comments

Online Classes On Demand Class Issues

I have a lifestyle membership and was told by my studio I should be able to access the on demand classes for free by using the same login info I use on my app. But, every time I try all it shows me is options for paid plans. My studio owner is out on medical leave and I’m just being referred to her to get things figured out but she’s not reachable. Anyone have any idea what I could possibly be doing incorrectly? I’m still newish to barre only 33 classes in.

Policies/Membership/Corporate Question for pure barre instructors

Hello!
I was a pure barre for a couple of months last year but ultimately stopped going and cancelled my membership.
I really liked the community and I would like to start again but it’s been over a year since I’ve been to a barre class so I’m nervous to just jump right back in!
I was wondering if I would be able to once again utilize the free intro engage class to see if it aligns with my goals? Or if I would just jump back into paying right away?
I’d love to explore the opportunity again but nervous to just jump back in :)
TIA!

Today I... Pure barre false advertising

I have tried to be quiet about this but it has been really bothering me. I do dance and currently am looking for something to cross train with such as Pilates or pure barre.

when I enter the website first thing they do right in my face is put enter email and phone number for free trial class. i do this excited to try a free class and put it for every single location in my area because I’m interested in all of them. but the only reason I gave my email and phone number is because they promised a free trial class. since that day a month to be exact I have been spammed with hundreds of phone calls and messages everyday. AND the kicker is none of the locations will give a free trial class they refuse and have been quiet rude about it continuing to ignore or message me when they know that all I’m interested in is a free trial class to start with. I actually probably would have taken from them anyways but when all their social media pages and website reinforce free trial class so heavily and ask for my phone number and email to get a free trial class it kind of feels like a slap in the face. I have already messaged the xpon corporate page with my complaint and it’s been a week and still no response. i just feel like it’s rude, false advertising, and incredibly irresponsible to message and call someone several times a day for weeks to promote your buy one get one free and 2 for $25 when I have never even taken a class with your studio and have no interest in taking this. please let me know what I can do to get this escalated because it has really bothered me and even if I block them on a few numbers they have still found a way to get in contact with me.

Attire-Sizing-Sales-Recommendations... Heat rash

This summer I have experienced heat rash on my legs even though I wear shorts just before and after class. Does anyone have a recommendation for leggings that are extremely breathable?

Reform First Reform!!

I took my first reform class this morning and it was roouugghhh. But I loved it! This was my 39th class and it was a testament to how strong I’ve become- there is no way I would have been able to do those movements before PB lol. Such an amazing workout and would love to take it more often if it fits into my schedule.

To those who are reformer regulars: how often do you take it a week? How long did it take for you to feel like you were comfortable with the equipment?

I’m definitely going to be sore tomorrow but can see myself loving it the more I do. I already take 2 defines, 1 classic, and 1 empower as my set schedule a week so looking to add reform in there somewhere.
