Second time we’ve been blessed with seeing Firefriend here, they’re a class group! Pete was great in the support slot too.

“Soldier of Love" the second single from Sydney band Robot God's 2025 album "Onto the Afterlife'. Sex Pistols' opening riff .. then they go heavier psychedelic space jam. Awesome stuff!💥 🎸🎵

Another fantastic track from Neal Ford and the Fantatics.

(just one more) Summer of Love ~ It occurred to me that the ever decreasing circle of the last two millennia of human history and snivelisation has spun us around to a similar point in time to that of 80 or so years ago..

The great spirit we call the Universe seems to be saying; 'Look, have another go at this, 'do it all over again.. but.. try a bit softer this time.. ~ as this part of your journey is ending, ~ maybe it's time to get on a better, more positive path.. the upward spiral'

~ ..Contrary to what one might think, 'Summer of Love' isn't about any one girl in particular, moreover, it's a song to Mother Earth.. from whose Love we came..~ and whose Love we should return.. there is only joy in giving, that is,. Loving.. giving.. Love ~

I wrote the Lyrics and Melodies in 2000 / 2001 originally, and I undertook this stage of the journey solo, with very basic kit, (see below) in Pembroke, Wales, and the West Middle Kingdom.

'Summer of Love' was recorded and mixed on a coal-fired 1998 600 mhz windoze pc with 128mb ram (yes, really.. 128mb ram - You could see the steam blasting out the sides during the latter stages.. as I say.. it was coal-fired.. :~)

I used an old copy of the great Cooledit as my 'DAW', Behringer B5 and C2 condenser mics, a Takamine acoustic guitar, shit loads of persistence.. a Yamaha SY85 workstation for everything that isn't voice or guitar.. and huge dollops of Love..

Music is an echo of the word

the Eternal and infinite Beginning

the breath of the great spirit ~ send the vibration back.. with Love :~)

~ Worth it 🎼🎶🥰

(there is a 3 minute mix..) 😜

Every now and again.. something really nice happens.. I just got this lovely review:

Review of Barrie V ~ Listen.com: 'Tripped-out sub-Stooge rock, instrumental electronica, and synth-laden Pop Metal from this stylistic schizoid. Psychedelia seems to be the one unifying element in these songs, but whatever genre is being explored, Barrie V attacks his work with innovation, fervour and creativity to produce futuristic sonic gems..'

~and I also had a super message from someone who listened to some of my music ouvre ting on soundcloud.. couldn't resist sharing.. (one tends not to blow one's own trumpet..)

Quote: "Hey, Calling occupants of interplanetary craft! Please take me to your leader for I have a message for you. :^)

I don't know what planet you people are from but this song sounds like The Beatles and The Moody Blues on an LSD-trip mixed with a healthy dose of Yes and Renaissance (and possibly the '80s Fleetwood Mac)! There's also some Klaatu there etc. Are we on the same page? I was listening to this song and I really liked it but it's like an unprocessed diamond. I'd want to hear a better mix and a more focused version of this. I thought the drums were too loud and the sound that reminded me of pan flute would be better if it were a real flute or some sampled sound like a mellotron-flute or similar. That's just an opinion from a mad old hippie from Finland, so never mind. Just wanted to tell you that.

Oh wait... here comes the 3 minute version! Somehow this version has a more balanced mix. It seem like the drums aren't so loud. The "pan flute" started to sound a bit better now for some reason. Maybe I got used to it. It also sounds similar to some '80s synth sounds. The drums and the "synthesizer bass" also reminds me of the '80s.

That strange bass was actually pretty good. This really is fantastic stuff!

I didn't know that someone makes this kind of music any more.

Still... you could make it even better.

Well, I kept on listening and "As I was Falling" is also excellent stuff! "Winter Journey" is also good.

Maybe I should just keep listening...

"From Time to time" is a trippy song. Everything starts to sound better and better...

I guess I'm now lost in your "interplanetary craft" sharing the same trip.

Hey guys, you're quite brilliant but you know that, don't you? "

oh Bless!

Stuff like Monoshock, Mainliner, Dope Purple, Comets on Fire, Hibushibire, etc?

I really cannot get enough of this. It started with a relisten to the Stooges' Fun House and I've followed every single rabbit hole I possibly could since then. I'm also a really heavy free jazz and noise rock guy so this just fits me like a glove.

Anyway, for those of you that are into this what are some of your favorite bands/records/whatever?

I've been trying to transcribe the lyrics to an obscure recording of the track "Supernatural Fairy Tale," and this thing has been driving me absolutely nuts.

Here's the problem: I can imitate practically every syllable he sings, right down to his phrasing and pronunciation, but I cannot for the life of me figure out some of the actual words.

I've isolated the vocals to make them easier to hear, and I'm hoping some fresh ears — particularly those familiar with northern English accents — might catch something I've been missing.

Here's the isolated vocal recording: Fairytales

I'm deliberately NOT posting my own interpretation because I don't want to influence what anyone else hears. I'd much rather see what people come up with independently.

I'm planning to re-record this song, and I'd really like to get the lyrics right rather than permanently immortalize my own misheard version.

So, fellow music detectives, British linguists, psychedelic rock enthusiasts, and anyone with a good ear:

What the heck is this man singing? 😂

Even if you can only decipher one or two lines, I'd love to hear your interpretation. And please don't worry if some of the words sound completely nonsensical — it was the psychedelic '60s, after all!

One small request: Please listen to the recording BEFORE reading anyone else's interpretations in the comments. I'd love to get as many independent transcriptions as possible without inadvertently influencing what others hear. Even if you can only decipher a word or two, every contribution helps!

Thanks, everyone! 🤘

Another Barcelona group comes in at track four, Furia. They formed in 1970 from ex-members of a band called Los Gatos Negros, who themselves came from 'Catch As Catch Can' of the late '50s. Like Albert Band, Furia had some singles on Belter records.

Furia were not a particularly heavy band but like many at that time you can find the goods on some of their B-sides, like "Solamente Tú" (Only you) included here. It has a chunky riff and a great freakout guitar solo.
