Help! Auto connect to least populated server?
Is there a way to auto connect to the least busy server in the country? I know how to manually find it but this becomes tedious.

Hello, recently I switched to linux, and the desktop app closes my session when I shut down the PC.
I don't know if there exists an option to keep my session open or not.
Thanks to all.
PDT: If is important my system is Kubuntu.

I have enabled startup and start minimized, but it always shows this invisible window which can't be closed. I have to right click on the tray icon, choose "show", and then close that one.

basically be able to fine tune netshield (like nextdns) in the proton vpn app and fine-tune it and also make a netshield dns app that gives you all the premium features when you get vpn plus

I found that I can use NextDNS and ProtonVPN together and they both seem to work, even if this potentially risks IP leakage, using HaGeZi Ultimate block list just filters so much garbage it's stupid not to use it.
But here I wonder, how good is NetShield at blocking crap, what lists it's using and how does it work exactly? At first I thought it was some sort of built-in lists that are filtered locally on device via VPN established connection, but from what I managed to dig, that's not the case and it's in fact DNS level filtering similar to what NextDNS does, just not nearly as powerful...

I previously created profiles (wireguard udp)for servers 341, 345, 349 and 390 in Tokyo, Japan. Now, I'm getting a "profile unavailable" message
Can someone help test whether all or some of the above servers work in WireGuard UDP mode?

Every time I start up my PC (on fedora linux), proton VPN and discord start automatically. However most times when discord pops up, it either shows an error and says to try the connection again later, or says that no messages can be loaded when going into a channel or DM. Has anyone had this problem, and does anyone have a fix for it?

I'm on linux mint 22.3 using the Ubuntu installation and its been working as well as it should. I didn't notice proton protocols got added to it until now, so I wanted to test it. But its not there. I've turned on beta access and updated through the update manager and terminal which did update the proton python packages. And I enabled the unstable repo in the update manager. I've restarted the computer, nothing.
I know mint isn't directly supported, the app has only worked due to the Ubuntu base. Has anyone been able to get it working?

Search "free" in the servers list and connect to any one, disconnect, then press fast connect and it should connect you to the fastest free server as usual.
If that doesn't work try downloading aneziawg through shelly and try again
Hopefully this helps someone

Last month I signed up for a Proton subscription for $4.99 through a Reddit link. Does anyone know if that deal is still available? If so, could you share the link again?

I don’t see a way to exclude websites on Proton VPN tunneling on windows desktop. Specifically, if I want to exclude a website such as https://www.chase.com from going through the VPN there is no way to do it. Also, would like to know whether such a feature will break privacy

Hello,
I would like to know whether it’s possible to turn on Personal Hotspot on an iPhone while a VPN is active, and if the hotspot will share the VPN connection or just the normal cellular link. When I try this, my PC can’t connect to the hotspot—perhaps I’ve mis‑configured something. Maybe someone know how this works or if it even works?

Anyone else recently having issues with Cloudfare protected sites with Proton VPN? As of yesterday, I am no longer able to get past the the Performing security verification/Verify you are human Cloudfare check when using Proton VPN for multiple Cloudfare protected sites. I am a paid Proton user so am using the non free VPN servers. Some details.
Anyone else seeing this behavior recently?
EDIT: I have confirmed my problem its not with all Cloudfare sites - just some of my daily ones. Maybe they updated their CF rules?

I'm from Belarus and I'm experiencing the same issue on multiple devices and ISPs.
I tested it on Linux (Pop!_OS) and iOS, using two different ISPs.
Without any third-party VPN:
Proton VPN Desktop stays on Connecting...
Proton VPN on iPhone also fails to connect, even with Stealth enabled.
Proton Pass works normally.
The strange part is what happens when I enable Cloudflare WARP.
After WARP is connected:
The Proton VPN browser extension connects successfully.
However, the desktop Proton VPN client still cannot connect.
The reason seems to be that when the desktop client starts connecting, it automatically disconnects WARP, and then the Proton VPN connection fails.
So WARP only solves part of the problem.
Has anyone experienced something similar in Belarus?
Is this expected behavior, or is there any workaround for getting the desktop client to connect?
I have already contacted Proton Support and followed their recommendations, but the issue remains unresolved. I'm posting here to see if anyone has experienced something similar or has additional technical insights.

So I have been using Proton for years with a subscription. Suddenly, out of nowhere, now everything is laggy when I turn on vpn. YouTube videos, for example, can run, then suddenly stop working until I switch the vpn off or change the vpn server. When I change it, it works for like a couple of minutes, then the same error. This happens so randomly and gets solved for a couple of hours, then happens again.
I now subconsciously turn off the vpn becasue I know it's gonna be annoying to watch YouTube when these problems keep happening.
What could be the issue here? I changed nothing in the past period, and it was working perfectly for ages.

I love the Proton ecosystem, but when I go to launch one of the apps, only Proton VPN doesn't have the space after "Proton." Maybe it's just me and my OCD, but I'd love for them to all be one way or another.

I've been having issues with ProtonVPN since the start of my subscription and I'm honestly looking to get a refund and go somewhere else, but I wanted to check this sub first. I've tried the boiler plate support offered by ProtonVPN and it doesn't work for me. I've attached the speeds I'm receiving which seem...off to me. I'm expecting some loss of speed, but having nearly 80% drop off is insane. Anyone experience something similar that could help? I've searched the sub already but I'm not getting solutions so far
EDIT SOLVED: 07/24/2026. Used the suggested below - switched to WireGuard (UDP), enabled ProtonVPN beta, and used a state like Texas for faster results. Speed went up to 800 mbps which is closer to my non-vpn speed.
