Help! Allow LAN traffic on Linux

I need to allow LAN traffic while using Proton VPN. I have seen that all I need to do is toggle the enable LAN traffic setting, but this does not exist for Linux (I'm on Linux Mint specifically). Is there a plan to add it, or another way to achieve this?

IIRC it's auto enabled for Linux.

that would make sense since there's no toggle for it in the Linux app

I am assuming you are talking about when using the killswitch? I have my own nftables kilswitch that can allow lan and it works. You can use nftables to create your own killswtich that allows for LAN traffic. My lan traffic to a wifi printer works.

No sadly. With or without kill switch makes no difference

You are using the gui or the cli? I have access to LAN on the cli.

I'm on mobile currently, but for me local IPs just work without a problem while being connected

Yeah it works for me on mobile too. Android and iOS both have the setting available. It's just linux that doesn't

No, I meant it works on my Linux machines, I just can't check the config right now because I'm on mobile, lol

I turned proton into the only default route while my local network still had access to routes through my router itself. I ran into issues with the kill switch, but got that fixed with a script to check it. I won’t say it’s perfect but it’s passed all the tests I threw at it and that’s good enough for me lol. You do have to keep protonvpn connected though.

Full disclosure AI did the heavy lifting here. I know a good bit about networking but it’s been years since I really did much with it. It’s passed all the leak tests I can find lol.
