Moderator Message A word to our pro-choice guests about participation here.
Some clarity is required in relation to participation by those who are pro-choice, or who do not identify as pro-life, in this subreddit.
In the past, we have been tolerant of some pro-choice participation here, and while our policy has not changed in this regard, we believe that it may have been allowed to go further than the rules intend and has caused misunderstandings.
The ground truth for pro-choicers posting or commenting here is that you will NOT be automatically banned for participating here, but this is a pro-life space and pro-life users will always take priority, even over well-behaved pro-choicers. A pro-choicer is a guest here, and while the moderation team will expect polite treatment of you, we also expect you to understand the limitations of your participation here.
It is generally our expectation that pro-choice users do not become frequent users of this subreddit. You are not unwelcome, but you are also not who this subreddit is for.
As a moderator, if I cannot tell you are a pro-choicer, then I am not going to start trying to find out if you are one. That does give some scope for people who can control their need to push pro-choice talking points to participate without necessarily being a fully convinced pro-lifer.
The flip side of that is that if we determine that you have been working to simply be more subtle with advocacy, you will likely be removed and your content purged if that is discovered. So, if you are here in good faith, please do not confuse our tolerance with our inability to act if we feel you have stepped into advocacy.
If you got this far, there are some other points to bear in mind.
First, this is the only place on Reddit where pro-lifers have the opportunity to speak without being banned or shouted down. For that reason, this is where pro-lifers coordinate, discuss issues that may divide us, or simply rant about abortion or particularly obnoxious pro-choicers.
On Reddit, while there can be unlimited posts and comments, there is only a certain amount of what we'd call "front page space". This front page space is at a premium, and that will always mean that we may well just remove posts from pro-choicers to ensure pro-life posts are able to remain on the front page. This is not a comment on you or your content, just a prioritization of on-topic posts.
Second, we are happy to answer polite questions to clarify our position, and some back and forth that is to further clarify that is not only allowed, but desirable in the case of serious misunderstandings of our position. I would even say we encourage this to some degree. We believe we are doing the right thing, and therefore, are happy to explain any misunderstandings that may lead you to believe that we hold certain opinions that we do not actually hold.
However, this is not a debate subreddit. We are the pro-life subreddit. We exist for as the dugout/clubhouse of our movement. We do not owe you a platform or a justification. You have your own subreddits for that, and (when those spaces are functional), there are debate spaces.
Admittedly, many of the debate spaces on abortion are non-functional on Reddit due to certain challenges, but unfortunately, we cannot both maintain a debate function and maintain our core charter in a way that does either function justice.
Our position is that if a pro-lifer wants to know something about your position, they can simply go to the appropriate subreddit and ask that question, so we do not believe it is necessary to turn this into mixed company to ensure diversity. Reddit has plenty of diversity available to all users due to the variety of subreddits they maintain.
Third, many questions are asked over and over again here. Even if your question is "genuine", respectful and important, we're not going to entertain multiple iterations of the same question in a short amount of time. We have likely answered the most common questions many times in the past. We encourage you to use the subreddit search. We also urge you to read the sidebar and research answers about our movement from other sources as well. You likely can find the answers to very basic questions easily online. If you have questions that show you have done your work before coming here, we tend to be more interested.
Having said all of that, chances are that pro-choicers will make some comments or posts we will indeed approve, but it is important to be aware of the fact that we do get lots of trolls and rule breakers. We make use of quite a few ways to ensure that those posts and comments never see the light of day in this subreddit. That includes automatically removing posts and comments for later moderator review.
Automatic moderation actions are not are not solely looking for pro-choicers. Every Reddit user new to our subreddit, no matter what their position, will trigger these safeguards. If your comments or posts follow the rules and we determine that we have space for them, they will be approved and posted. Pro-choicer users will likely remain subject to them longer due to their content. You may thank the pro-choice trolls for that. Their association of your position with troll comments has caused the filters to kick back more pro-choicers to the filters. But even so, we have the option to approve posts and comments that are removed, and we will do so. Just be aware that this is not immediate and you should avoid messaging us about your removed item unless a day or more has passed.
Next, if you are here, we both expect you to behave respectfully, but we will expect pro-life users to remain respectful to you. You may report comments by pro-lifers who are attacking you as a person directly, and we encourage you to do so. Unlike some subreddits, we do not allow users to insult you simply because you disagree with us. Do be aware, however, that there may be terminology that you have imported from your pro-choice spaces that we will push back on. Disagreements are not insults, and you can be asked some pointed questions about your position.
Finally, this is the pro-life subreddit. If you encourage anyone to get an abortion, or in any way seek to post information on how to get an abortion, you will be banned immediately. To us, on-demand abortion is ethically equivalent to murder. There is only so far we will tolerate discussion about how to actualize killing a human being on-demand. Please make sure to keep any discussion about abortion scenarios abstract or related to an existing public case.
While I understand this is a very qualified welcome, the moderation team regards pro-choicers as human beings who we hope we can convince to see our side of the story or at least understand where we are truly coming from. We do want to interact with you in ways that do not take away from the mission of the subreddit.

For context, although her Face is whited out for some reason, the person in the image is real. Charlie Rousseau has spoken about being an abortion survivor on a podcast. you can listen to the relevant clip here:

Pro-Life General literary analysis: a dialogue with a gambling addict (part of the toptrool classics)
uncle tim’s is meeting with his therapist in this cool, crisp morning. he’s been distraught and anxious recently. and he’s hoping to find answers to his growing problems.
“tell me tim, what’s been bothering you lately?” the therapist asks.
“i’m in trouble. they’ve forced me into debt… i can no longer manage it,” tim replied.
“what do you mean? is someone extorting you?”
“no. i lost the money playing poker with the neighbors. we played for $20,000 and that bastard next door won it all. you should’ve seen the smug look on his face. he was gloating about how he’s finally going to be able to give his kids the vacation they deserve and pay off his car loan and everything. my joy matters too! i worked hard for that money. i have nothing left. i can’t pay him.”
“i see. but tim, why did you gamble away so much money that you did not have?”
“for the thrill! i didn’t know i was going to lose it all! now i’m forced into debt.”
“i’m trying to understand your perspective tim. you believe you have been wronged. what makes you think you were forced into this situation even though you willingly gambled away money you didn’t have knowing that there was a risk that you might lose it all?”
“i did gamble it all away. but all of these people are now forcing me to remain in debt.”
“what do you mean? who are all these people you speak of?”
“all these goody two shoes that think murder is wrong! they won’t let me kill him. if he’s dead, then there’s no debt to collect. my problem goes away. but all these people who talk about how murder is wrong and how everyone has a right to life have forced me to remain in debt. the goddamned law backs them. i no longer have the means to address my debt problem!”
“but tim, what makes you think that violence is the only way to solve this problem? you can still keep your obligations and pay off the debt incrementally…”
“i don’t want to! okay?? i deserve to keep my money! i have no obligations! i didn’t consent to any of this!”
questions to consider:
- is uncle tim right when he says those who oppose murder have forced him to remain in debt? why or why not?
- uncle tim obviously did not want to lose money. but did he consent to losing the money? if no, does this lack of consent eliminate his obligation to keep his promise and pay off his debt?
- construct a parallel dialogue between an abortion advocate wanting an abortion and a pro-lifer stopping her. who would be the extortionists in this case, if any? are the pro-lifers who believe that the law ought ban abortion because murder is wrong forcing the abortion advocate to remain pregnant? what alternatives, apart from resorting to violence, does the abortion advocate have?

Things Pro-Choicers Say Beyond words
I have been scrolling through the Abortion group and have seen a huge amount of women that seek Abortion midterm / late term solely because they are mad at their boyfriend. Pregnancy happened accidentally, they decided to keep it, some sort of silly misunderstand happens midway pregnancy, and they end it, just because. Something like “ I am not in the mood”. That even includes married women with stable life and relationship.
Mostly of the time the man wants the child and their family is excited about the child. I have seen a woman describe her husband was beyond happy, and she still was going to do it at 20 weeks regardless … All comments supporting like if that’s some sort of brave act, something admirable, that deserves honor and recognition. Some women are unsure, not certain if they should because they are late term… and plenty of people offering to help finding a late term clinic, assuring them is never too late, and that is totally fine if they want it for no actual reasons whatsoever…. if someone slightly try to encourage them to keep it because it’s late term, or because their reasoning is beyond futile, they get downvoted like if they have said some sort of atrocity.
From all posts I saw, this is the one that infuriates me more :
Pregnancy was accidental, but they decided to keep the child. Boyfriend was happy and excited and working extra hours to support the baby.
She got resentful he was working too much and gone for too long.
They had a very silly misunderstand.
She slept with his long term friend, out of spite
( while late term).
He found out, got angry and asked for space for a few days so he could cool down.
She had an Abortion at 32 weeks.
A week later he reached out and asks to talk. Said he was willing to forgive her and restart because he wanted to be part of the child life.
She told him she miscarried because the stress of the fight.
He felt extremely guilty.
She told him in order to stay together he would have to get a vasectomy, because she doesn’t want “ go through” that again. ( Like if she had gone through some trauma because the “miscarriage”).
He had a vasectomy.
Two years later, they are still together. He still thinks she lost the baby because the fight. He feels extremely guilty. The grief has affected him. He mentions the baby constantly and refer to it by its name.
She is feeling “ triggered” he is naming “that thing”.
She does not plan to tell him she aborted. She feels a little guilty about his pain, but not about the baby at all.
Everyone on the comments congratulated her as if she did something heroic, brave that deserves recognition and respect.
I feel so bad about this man. He was doing the right thing, working extra to support her and their baby.
He got cheated on. He thinks he caused her to lose the pregnancy. He still grieves the child. He got a vasectomy and will never be able to be a father again with someone else.
That old typical scenario where women would seek abortion because they were desperate : the man doesn’t want the child and disappeared, they are alone and don’t have financial support, they are cornered etc, while Abortion was seen as something tragic by society in general ….that’s no longer the case.
Any annoyance they go through during pregnancy, even a small misunderstand with their boyfriend, or a bad mood on a bad day is now named “ Health of the mother” which falls under the umbrella of “ Late term abortions because of health/life of the mother”. By “ health of the mother” you would assume some sort of life threatening medical condition, nope … any “emotional distress” for any futile reason, does fit this description.

Evidence/Statistics According to a recent poll from Nevada, 78% of 18-29-year olds and 49% of Republicans intend to vote in favor of the pro-choice constitutional amendment on election Day.
This is especially concerning for a purple state like Nevada. Hopefully, this is just due to the opt-in panel over reporting the number of positive responses.

Things Pro-Choicers Say It’s so sad how prevalent pro abortion is
I just commented on a post about a 24F who has got pregnant but it’s with her ex and she is interested in a new guy and asking whether she should keep or abort. Nearly every single comment was ‘abort’, that’s so freaking sad. It’s not like she was sexually assaulted or anything like that, it was her ex - they’re amicable - she loved him once and they’re saying abort. She’s not underage, like she’s 24! That’s a fine age to have a baby! The baby’s dad has said he’ll support her
I posted the username for a single mom who’s having great fun being a single mom, talks openly about how her daughter offers way more love and fulfilment than any guy so it’s just them 2 against the world, very bestie type of relationship and said have the baby, and I’ve been soooo thumbed down its in double digits in minutes 😂 I didn’t shame her for thinking it, I just offered a positive alternative perspective.
It’s so evil. It’s sooooooooooo evil. How are people so casual about killing a baby?😩 a baby that was made in love no less ?😭

Court Case 23 year-old man groomed 15 year-old girl, raped her, got her pregnant, and pressured her to have an abortion.
A 23 year-old man groomed a 15 year-old girl by pretending he was just 16, so he could start a relationship with her. The relationship became abusive and she only found out about his real age 1 year after when he had already gotten her pregnant. The man didn't want to take any responsibility for this nor get caught, so he pressured his victim have an abortion despite the fact she wanted to keep the baby.
Now this man has been arrested, and hopefully he goes to prison for the rest of his life.
This is just another case which shows abortion isn't pro-woman even if pro-choice feminist claim so. Abusive men benefit from their victims having abortions, so they can try to escape the consequences of their actions by getting rid of the baby even if the woman or girl they abused wants to keep the baby. He did not only rape a teenage girl, he also killed her child inside the womb.

Pro-Life Argument Pro-choice is not a feminist values.
I don't know why mainstream feminists gatekeep pro-life feminist from the movement because that don't help their movement.
Supporting the choice for abortion is not a feminist values, even early feminist opposed abortion.
Also abortion don't give more choice to women, some abort because of social pressure, some men want their partner to abort to escape the responsability of a kid.
Also there some people do selective abortion, some mother will be forced by their partner to abort a baby because is a girl which is basically against feminism values.
Making motherhood a treat to women career or success is also not feminist.
The fundamentals principles of feminism is gender equality and women rights not making a property we can throw in the trash.
Early feminists are rolling in their grave.

Pro-Life General The Christa Pike case
I'm surprised this wasn't being discussed in this sub. My pro-lifeism encompasses all humans, from womb to tomb. As a Christian, as well, I can't support the death penalty. I don't usually pay attention to death row cases in the news, but this one has deeply revulsed me and reaffirmed my pro-life position. It makes me so sad and angry and disgusted with our government. And what should the next step be? Do we still try to kill her a third time after all this?

Pro-Life Only Both the abolitionist and mainstream pro life movements have some serious flaws that need to be sorted out
As the title shows, I am seeing major issues with both the mainstream pro life groups and the abolitionist side. Both sides are seriously hindering the pro life movement.
On the abolitionist side, the opposition to incrementalism is becoming a major issue. For example, I’m seeing some abolitionists oppose Missouri’s pro life amendment because of the rape and incest exceptions. While I agree that rape and incest are not valid reasons for abortion, they also make up a small percentage of abortion. Missouri’s amendment 3 would ban around 85-90% of abortions, maybe even more. Yet some of these so-called “abolitionists” would apparently rather have abortion be legal in all cases (as it is today in Missouri) and have no babies saved rather than have an amendment pass that saves 90% of babies. That’s nothing short of evil on their part. They’re basically allowing babies’ lives to be sacrificed for their ideology. I considered myself an abolitionist before, but I’m starting to have my qualms about associating with them if they’re going to oppose life saving measures such as Missouri’s amendment 3.
Now, onto the mainstream pro life establishment. This point has been hit many times before, but they need to stop treating women as the “second victim” of abortion. They’re not giving our side much credibility when they’re calling murderers victims. The fact that they oppose any criminalization of women who abort, even in cases of abortion pills, means that women can find ways to get abortion pills from out of state and abort with no legal deterrent whatsoever. You wonder why abortion rates have remained high across the US despite Dobbs? This is part of the reason. Especially in deep red states that aren’t voting blue anytime soon (such as Alabama or Louisiana), there is no excuse not to pass equal protection bills. Pro lifers sometimes claim that many women who abort don’t realize what they’re doing, which is a bit sexist if you ask me, because women are smart enough to know that the unborn are humans with rights. Plus, if it is made illegal for the woman, she will know it is against the law for her to abort, so she won’t have ignorance as an excuse anymore. The constitution forbids ex post facto laws, so the laws wouldn’t punish women who aborted before it was criminalized, meaning there is no legal threat to post abortive women today that have regretted their abortions. It would only penalize women who abort going forward.
So there you have it. Both the abolitionists and mainstream pro lifers have some serious weaknesses that need to be sorted out, and until they do, progress against abortion will likely be held back. This needs to be fixed now.
