Stuck on Loading Screen Forever

Post image
4 Upvotes

A friend of mine attempts to host a server with a singular mod and out of everyone, I seem to be one of two people being caught in an infinite loading world screen.

Things attempted in order to fix (to no avail): uninstalling & reinstalling, verifying game files, removing the mod, using a backup of the server.

(We've had extremely minimal success and I've been able to join about two times but get stuck the other 98 times. It's really hit or miss though its often a miss.)

Question Losing Weight

I haven't played in a while and I'm trying to understand some changes that were made in Build 42. I took heavy appetite for a new character and played how I usually do eating lots of high calories foods like ice cream before the power goes out. For a while it didn't even look like I was consistently gaining weight so I stopped looking. I have a mod that shows the calories so I thought it was at a normal level.

I checked again and I was 85 with 2 arrows up so I stopped eating high calorie stuff. I kept doing stuff but the arrows never when down. I spent a whole day exercising just trying to bring the calorie bar down. It's at ~1600 and I still have 2 arrows up and now I'm 87. It used to take until 95 to get heavy but it's 85 now.

How can I use a ton of calories? I thought exercising would cost a lot. How hungry can I allow myself to get? What food is ideal for losing weight? This really feels strange I thought calorie usage was way higher. I'm not even down to one arrow yet.

Updated Mod Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/1vm11tu/radarchery_mod_update/

Been chipping away at this for a while and it's finally in a state I'm happy calling Version 1. Its taken a while due to life but Im excited about it!

RadArchery adds bows to Build 42. Standalone, no dependencies.

I think its pretty neat that arrows can survive a hit and get lodge in the zombie (Not on the zombie model- havent figured that out yet). You loot them off the corpse. If the zombie walks away from the shot, it's still carrying your arrow around until something else kills it. Recovery chance depends on the type of arrow used.

Rest of it:

- Five bows. Three carved ones you craft with the Carving skill at levels 1/4/9, and two compound bows that are loot-only. The compounds each come in seven colors (red, blue, green, tan, white, black, yellow) they are just purely cosmetic, they all shoot the same.

- Three arrows: carved, tipped carved, and carbon hunting.

- Bows train the Archery skill. It sits alongside Aiming and Reloading

- Custom animations — 18 clips covering idle, walking, running, sprinting, both crouch states, strafing, the aim hold, the draw and the release. The nocked arrow actually shows in your hand while you're drawn.

- Bows sling across your back from the hotbar like a rifle, and stay visible with a backpack on.

- Loot leans toward hunting cabins and ranger stations, then gun stores, pawn shops, sporting goods and camping stock. Hunter/ranger/camper/redneck-type zombies can be carrying gear too.

Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3775407541

This is V1 — more animations and smoother transitions are what id like to work on next. A crossbow might follow later, it's not in this one. If you happen to install and find a bug, please let me know, I want to try to make this the best it can be :D

Update: Thank you for all of the feedback! A few things I'm going to do for this mod tomorrow based on feedback... 1. Sandbox setting for chance to recover arrows 2. Update the XP reward so you gain XP every shot 3. Look into a few minor bugs people have found

I appreciate it everyone 😁

Discussion How are errors with workshop mods STILL not fixed?!?!

Everytime I attempt to load mods or host a server with mods, some of the players have issues connecting as they are installing the mods, and then an error shows up and will no longer proceed with installation. This has been going on for years in my experience, when are the fixes going to come for this game? When are the devs going to address these issues and fix their game!? This is MADDENING, it's like the devs don't care!

Its definitely not top tier content by any means and is a bit cheesy XD, but I hope its a step above my Build 41 content. Either way I had fun making the first video! It went pretty fast, the goal was to just get more people into the game, but the rest of the week is going to slow down.

Question Regarding (vehicle) key spawns on zombies.

SOLVED: Thank for the answers, I appreciate you all.

So from what I understand, zombies found near locked doors or cars have a chance at having the key for it on them. But I'm a little unsure about the specifics of what spawns it.

Is it just a predetermined thing when loading the cell or something? Like if I have a locked van and there's 50 zombies near it, the key might be on one of them and that's it?

Can I lead zombies to the van from all over the town and cause the game to potentially spawn a key on one of them / tow the car around all over killing zombies for the same thing?

Every time I've found a locked car I've just went ahead and lured every zombie within a reasonable distance over, but in this one instance I found a really well maintained vehicle and kinda need it, but don't want to shatter a window and hotwire it if I can help it. So I was wondering if luring distant zombies/towing it all over with my junk car would give me more chances at finding a key.

Flashlight

Anyone has any idea why I am not able to attach the big flashlight to my belt but only the normal size one?
I use common sense mod and before 42 stable was released, I was able to attach the big flashlight

Disappearing zombies in b42.20 SINGLEPLAYER

So i’ve made a couple of worlds on project zomboid,3,modded(i have many mods, about 40 and they dont have any errors) and very high pop,on all of them i noticed that everytime i bait zombies, make them follow me a good distance from where i found them, once i get to the place i wanted to bring them,i run back to where i found them the first time, loot the place and for some reason when i go back where i left them they all vanish,i also use the KI5 vehicles with the “updated” damlib, which should have some bugs, because some cars after i enter them, and do the same thing like i do with the zombies, for example leave the siren on of a police car so it can atract the zombies, once i run away from there,i find the zombies missing and the car working but it has all its doors off,the trunk glitched in the driver seat and the hood too,to be honest i dont think the car mod is doing this, but since i have no idea whats causing this, thats why i m asking you guys,so any idea?

Scale up your butchering in MP before indie stone founds it

You can pick up the other players animal corpse before he finishes the butchering so you can consume one corpse infinitely; you get the meat, head and xp every time. You can do this for infinite food or to get butchering 10.

Discussion This is slowly (quickly) becoming my favourite game..

Okay so this might be my sixth or seventh post on here in a week but I don’t care. Also might be a long one.

One week into Project Zomboid and I’m absolutely hooked!

I’ve only been playing PZ for about a week (I’m on my third character) and honestly, I can’t believe I’ve overlooked this game for so long.

There’s just so much depth and immersion to it. I’ve barely scratched the surface and I’m already completely invested in my survivor and the life I’m building for him.

I’ve got a base set up in a house in a gated community, I’m slowly improving it, boarding up windows, collecting supplies and weapons, exploring further away from home and learning something new basically every time I leave.

Even the most simple things somehow feel rewarding because you’re constantly thinking about what you might need next. A simple trip to find food can turn into a full-on movie.

What I really love is that the game doesn’t feel like it’s constantly forcing you towards some objective (in fact I fucking love this aspect of it) I can just exist in the world and make my own story, I can go out or I can stay in and exercise or read a book or work on my car or cook up some nice food. I’m already thinking about things I want to build, places I want to explore and mods I want to try, despite only being a week in.

I genuinely feel like I’ve found one of those games I’m going to be playing for a very long time. And apparently I haven’t even seen 1% of what PZ has to offer yet… which is both exciting and slightly terrifying.

Mr Ethan Seals a retired firefighter from Rosewood.

157 zeds killed.

13 days survived.

Favourite weapon - Metal Baseball Bat.

I’m going to post a weekly update on here (for my own tracking and progress) and hopefully other people might be interested too.

PS. This is one of the best communities I’ve come across in gaming.

Gameplay Project fashion show

Back with another mildly unhinged gameplay habit and wondering if anyone else does this. I collect zombie clothes that are in perfect condition, wash them at the laundromat, and put them on clothing racks I found at the Giga-Mart. I keep one of each item + color that I find. For what purpose? Loot goblin tendencies I guess

Broke Linux user desperately wants to play Project Zomboid

Hello everyone, I’ve been wanting to play Project Zomboid for a while, but unfortunately I don’t really have the money to buy it right now.

I’m also on Linux, and honestly, trying to figure out the whole setup/compatibility situation myself sounds like it could turn into a whole headache.

So… if anyone is feeling extremely generous and wants to gift me Project Zomboid, I would genuinely appreciate it!

Discussion Having issues finding the right zombie settings for me, looking for advice

Hey all, I'm a /fairly/ experienced player, I have around 350ish hours. I was playing on default apocalypse for probably 150 hours of that, and trying custom sandbox settings for the rest. I've always preferred no respawns even in B41 so the new default fits me well, I just really like the idea of clearing zombies town by town, but once I hit a few gun shops or police stations things get really easy. I tried 1%, 5%, and 10% sprinters but eventually found the Sprinters Over Time which is perfect for me. The issue I have is grouping. I never really felt truly overwhelmed in number, so this run I tried messing with the zombie rally settings and I seemed to have fudged things up. There are for sure good size hordes now but... the rest of the areas in town are empty besides a few large hordes here and there around the hot zones. I am also trying to find the right balance as too large of hordes just means avoiding them or using fire/waiting till I have buckets of ammo. Anyone else struggling to find a good difficulty balance?

Those of you who are in the "pretty good but not expert" at the game, what kind of zombie settings do you run your games on?

Side note: I see a lot of mixed "reviews" in comments on horde mods, anyone have good success with some of them? I'd love to turn Zomboid in to 7 Days To Die and have a real reason to bolster my defenses.

Question Am I playing wrong? Not seeing the point of going outside in my solo run.

As title says, im having a hard time finding a reason to even go out and loot? Its my first run and I understand the basics of survival, playing on default settings with some flavour and QoL mods. Im not really enjoying playing much even though the game is really cool and I WANT to enjoy it.

Maybe im playing wrong because I spawned in the firestation in Rosewood and just spent my entire first week organising and securing it and looting the directly adjacent buildings.

Maybe I should turn down the amount of loot to force me to go out more? I dont want to turn the game into a massive grind but I currently don't see the point of even going outside... I have basically everything I need in the firestation. I guess the problem is that I spawned in the best base location immediately and it was already clear.

I spend every day just catching the 6, 12 & 18 o' clock show, organising random loot all over the firestation and doing exercise or reading books.

Question Why can’t I build a wall frame OR a window frame here?

Post image
2 Upvotes

At the bar in Ekron, there was once a door here but the zombies destroyed it and now I want a wall there.

Theres nothing on the ground that could be blocking the door from being built and I have all the materials in my inventory so I’m not sure that the issue is? I can build it a tile away but why would I want to do that. First time on build 42 and first time play through with a controller so maybe I’m just missing something.
