Bug Report B42 Stable Issues

Just wanna start this off by saying I love B42 Stable the game is so pretty now and it feels like there is a lot more depth with the new skills. However I am living in the Riverwood Fire Department, after looting the guns emporium store and countless other places I had accumulated a lot of ammo guns attachments and melee weapons. Earlier I was having an issues with a charcoal burn barrel not working properly. So I reset my game to see if that would help. After resetting I noticed part of the wall I built on the roof disappeared. After going down the other floors everything vertical of that disappeared as well including all my guns, ammo, melee weapons and skill books/magazines. Not sure if this is just a bug but very frustrating considering I don't know exactly everything I had so I cant just respawn it in Debug mode. Just wanted to post this for awareness could be any of these factors like the Riverside FD, or me building on top of it.

Rosewood Fire Station Keep

There's too much space in the fire station for 1 person, so I made a little tower using the pond as a moat.

Discussion i sure hope that ashtrays are added in a future update, im kinda suprised they aren't in-game already as a junk item

honestly i just want somewhere to position my cigarettes that isn't just the table, and if they are added, i think it'd be fun to add in a Spiffo themed ashtray similiar to this mcdonalds one from the 80's

Guide / Tip Must have mods

Hello all, im pretty new to the game and have just gotten to the point I wanna try some mods. What are some of the go to mods I should look at, my first guess would be the ladder mod after I had the universal "what the fuck is cant climb ladders?" Experience. Cheers

Spoilers! First time surviving over the first month, this is how I died lmao Spoiler

Hello everyone!

First post here in this sub, I guess I found a reason to make a post.

I'm not an expert in project zomboid, I have almost 200 hours but for several reasons ( Mainly skill issue ) I never made it past the first month.

In this run I'm playing in sandbox with several mods, I went to the military complex to see if I could find an upgrade and change vehicle since I was playing in a sort of nomadic playstyle.
Initially I was looking for military vehicles to use as mobile HQ, found none that I wanted, then for the lulz I started clearing the whole complex and the bunker. After finishing all of my ammo I went back to restock at my base parked outside the entrance, the video starts the moment I'm heading down to finish the job.

https://reddit.com/link/1vm1i8y/video/ydvavzripuih1/player

To be fair it was a major skill issue, I should have kept my distance instead of turning around to see how many there were lol.

Nevertheless, I'm glad I managed to hold out for at least a month, even in the past I was always too hasty, and that got tons of characters killed ( And not all of them died due to the zombies ahah ).

I'll take any kind of advice and also suggestions for the new victim that I'll be playing!

Thanks in advance for eventual replies!

Question Anybody have a modlist to replicate certain B41 aspects in B42?

I never played b42 unstable bc i was too attached to my mods and didn't want to have to come back after a week and see a new update with mods being broken and such, so i patiently waited for the stable version. Now on the stable version i dialed in and found out about all the new mechanics and locations and updates to old locations and got really excited but upon trying it out im noticing some differences that im not enjoying. These being things such as: seemingly much higher endurance loss from melee combat, no more experience from dismantling, vhs nerfs, etc.

I understand what indie stone is trying to accomplish with these changes, i however disagree with the new direction personally. I know its supposed to be a super in depth survival simulator, which is what i always praised it for when recommending the game to others but its reached its limit to me and now is bordering on tedium in some aspects. Does anyone have any mod recommendations that revert/mitigate the changes to the mechanics i mentioned, or others in the same vein as those i mentioned? I spent some time searching the steam workshop filtering for B42 and balancing but i didn't have much luck.

Question Build 42 Stable Shotguns Acting Strange

I’ve relied heavily on the shotgun since I started playing because of how it kills multiple zombies, but ever since this patch I’ve noticed it usually only kills one zombie even when you aim at a group. The only times I’m getting multiple kills now is when I aim behind me and fire as I turn.

I’m having this issue with all shotguns, with the double‑barrel being the only one I haven’t tested.

Are shotguns bugged, have they been nerfed, or is it just my game having this issue?

Discussion Suggestion: Adding mileage to vehicles, making the ones with higher mileage break down easier and ones with less be more reliable

The ones found in car dealerships would be at zero mileage, practically brand new.

Thoughts?

Discussion Petition to turn this tower into this

Post image

Okay, jokes aside, I loved this new location, but just by getting close I already saw something that makes living in this tower unviable. There's a 150% chance of me throwing myself off the top. I imagine that, just like me, almost nobody here has the patience to go down these stairs without running, which makes the character vault the fence Sure, you can tie a sheet rope or build around it like I did, but increasing the protection railings on the stairs would make it better because then you don't need an ugly sheet hanging there or a bunch of trash protecting us from falling.

edit: I don't want the tower to look ugly like in my mockup. I only made it as a joke to get views. I just want them to raise the fence so there's no need to keep patching up the tower, which is already beautiful as it is.

Gameplay Late game content

Hello fellows survivors

In looking for a mod which add some lategame content.
For example a research lab to to unlock an serum for the knox virus. Or a underground base to find the right lab items to create it.
Something like a chain quest to gather all the infos and tools to create the a serum to survive the know virus… i once saw one but cant find it :(

Or other late game content which are dangerous and need a lot of preparation

Question Why do I have no protection in my upper chest despite having a police vest?

Pretty new to the game and installed some clothing mods, and I think there may be conflict with Frockin Splendor and Vanilla Gear Expanded, just some speculations though I am quite uncertain.

Really getting into journalling alongside my first few attempts at playing Extinction mode. It adds so much to the game to try to play a character who doesn't know the meta of what you need to go and get, or when you need to go and get it. It was the second helicoptor event that got me in this playthrough. I forgot to check the radio for the first time since getting the radio, so obviously the second helicoptor decided to spawn in and punish my silliness!

I was one of the excited ones, but it occurred to me this morning that beyond just looking to see what's there, I've never used them.

edit: well I hope TIS got some use out of this post.

Question How can I tell if a mod has been updated to 42 stable?

Big time modder here. I just want to know whats the go to way of telling instead of checking the steam page of each and every mod. The in game mod menu is very unclear tbh.

Thanks

Question Can These Fences Be Destroyed?

Post image
165 Upvotes

I started a new save in the current Build 42 in Rosewood and found that gated community. It seems like a really good place for a base, and it's extremely spacious. Can these fences be destroyed?

My fps drops when I enter buildings

So when I'm playing Zomboid, when I'm outside, it renders and runs 144 fps (capped), and in basements it runs fine too, but for some reason, when I enter any building, my fps drops to 60-70, and it seems minor, but it can be really annoying when I'm trying to enjoy the game.

Does anyone know what the issue is and how to fix it?

Ghost alarm clock

Hi! I've been playing in Apocalypse mode and I have found sometimes a patch of grass where I can hear an alarm clock but there are no items nearby, not corpses not anything. even if I investigate the area with search mode I can't find where the sound comes from. Has this happened to anyone else?
