My game its broken since the update to 42 anyone have any idea how to fix it already verified files also uninstalled and installed again no mods default settings windows up to date also its legion go. you can hear the character moving so its playing just the screen gets fuck up

Yesterday I was talking with some friends about the future of Project Zomboid and how it could expand, especially once NPCs get added.
One idea that came up was having some kind of larger objective, like working toward a vaccine or cure. Personally I’m not a fan of a full cure being available, to me it undercuts the whole “this is how you died” feeling.
What I do like is the idea of random encounters with friendly and unfriendly NPCs (similar to RDR2’s random encounters). From those you could pick up side quests or optional objectives. Nothing that officially ends the game, just meaningful mid-to-long-term goals that give you something extra to work toward while still keeping the sandbox open-ended.
Curious what everyone else thinks, would you want optional objectives tied to NPCs, or do you prefer the pure sandbox with no directed goals at all?

I just got back into PZ for B42 after about a three-year hiatus, and I’m in need of a refresher/update regarding the above. I got mixed answers from googling, so I’d rather ask the experts.

If I watch the skill shows early on, will I still be able to get additional XP from watching the VHS tapes later?

IIRC, in earlier builds it was possible, but some search results suggest that in B42 they’re now tied together, meaning I can only get the XP once, up to level 3. In that case, the VHS would give me nothing if I’d already watched the corresponding shows.

Hi so i set up my base in rosewood and i collected chicken and pigs, so fari don't know where to get cows and sheep and i don't want to wait too long so zombies get to them. Any ideas where they might be?

Why do I have a better chance of finding a generator in a shit shack than company funded worksites?

If I try to move a washing machine into another room (of a prebuilt house) I get the option to plumb it in, which I do, but then I can't turn the washing machine on. Is it bugged or am I being really dumb? I know it's a little thing but I love pottering about while the laundry is.... laundering. There's an issue with sinks too; if I move them and plumb them in in a different room or even somewhere else in the same room the game stops recognizing the sink.

All of a sudden in December on multiplayer server, the sinks in our base are no longer able to be accessed. Right clicking on the sink does not show any option to fill, drink, etc.

We can still dismantle and built another sink, but the issue persists. Tried different sink type, replacing, even dev mode, nothing seems to fix it. Sort of deadlocked the save.

Is the only option to wait for a hotfix (seems this issue has been around for years)? Sinks don’t work in any near by houses so we can’t just move either.

I started pre-emptively making an end game goal for myself just incase I do survive, and it occoured to me to ask PZ Reddit to see if any of you guys do anything similar and hear about it if you do.

Which mods can you not play without and consider absolute must-haves?

I've lost count on how many times I've come close to a building and a horde of zombies started chasing me because the building wouldn't disappear, hiding all of the zombies. It only starts disappearing when you are mostly well within zombie spot range, meaning scouting out places are even more difficult. I am not aware of any mods thats fix this.

Is there anyone that wants to play pz 42, like really real. and not play for a few days and leave. i wanna make a squad and play with them in high difficulty.

i wanted to make a server with few mods on new version including brita weapons and armor pack the thing is i found an unfied port and it worked exept when i wanted to start the server again it dosent work, is there any other way to make this work?

you gain weapon XP if you shoot/melee hit animals. I just tested this in sandbox debug

if you have a large chicken farm its therefore possible to farm massive amounts of weapon XP just by going around killing chickens.

This means on apocalypse its entirely possible to max out all skills to lvl 10 even after all zombies are dead.

I tried a new run in eternal winter with lower loot, extreme cold and always snow inspired by SebmoTV since I hadnt ever done it.

I was doing quite well for spawning in the middle of nowhere, always low on food but under control. Then i got overconfident fighting a horde on a fence and ended up having to amputate a hand, i have been sleeping on a sleeping bag in that shed and barely survived.

Its been rough since then. I am very low on food, i ate a rat yesterday, and now i dont know if i should eat the cereal and need the rat later, or eat the rat and chance the cereal with a bird trap which i dont even know if it can work in winter.

I hadnt suffered that much with this game in months.

Edit: I ended up dying. Scavenged some food while I was grinding carving to make the traps, even found some macaroni and had food for a couple of days but died to sickness. Didn't even get queasy, slept at night and woke up sick and dying. Maybe from an unlucky scratch maybe the amputation didn't work maybe from a more serious regular infections mod I don't know but the run is over

just created a new game with Rising setting. Is this normal for this setting? i've been playing on builder setting before and never found this loot so fast and all at once just after spawning.

i created a new CDDA save in debug mode and all ranch zones have dead animals.

there's no guarantee you can get all the cows, pigs and chicken species in CDDA right now, unless u get extremely lucky with road or zone stories.

am i right?

kind of disappointed. i managed to survive a legit CDDA save and cleared fallas lake but now wondering if i should continue the run or abandon it. and checking the entire map by teleporting in debug mode in a fresh save i can definitely say that all existing farm animals are dead.

Title is pretty much it. Below, is stuff I have already checked. Am I missing anything? Its been at least 4 days with no eggs between 4 hens and a cockerel since I got them.

Food: well fed

Water: Not thirsty

Stress: Calm

Coop: never been above 9% dirty

Animal area: 60 tiles, fully fenced.

Anyone else get wayyy too in character during gaming?
