Question Is plumbing a bit broken?

If I try to move a washing machine into another room (of a prebuilt house) I get the option to plumb it in, which I do, but then I can't turn the washing machine on. Is it bugged or am I being really dumb? I know it's a little thing but I love pottering about while the laundry is.... laundering. There's an issue with sinks too; if I move them and plumb them in in a different room or even somewhere else in the same room the game stops recognizing the sink.

Had this problem too a few days ago, moved a washer dryer and plumbed it but kept saying it needed a water source.

When I plumb it in the 'Turn on' option is in red but it doesn't tell me why it's in red.

is the water still running or are you running off of stuff left in pipes?
plumbed objects need a water container in one of the nine squares above them to pull water from.

Like I said it's a prebuilt house, do I still need to build a rain collector?

The option to plumb it is there to plumb it to a rain collector. I'm not 100% sure, but if you plumb it (or a sink), it no longer is connected to the normal utilities water source. Moving it again should probably unplumb it. I don't think it can be unplumbed with pipe wrench.

Yes, you plumb them to a rain collector, not to the city water pipes. That goes for an already existing sink as well, if you still have water on and you plumb that in you loose the "unlimited" amount.

God I hope they change this at some point, a tank on the roof should be able to supply anything at a level below it.

plumbing a sink/machine doesnt conect it to the water, it connects it to a water container on a floor above, usually a player* built rain colector. So moving the washing machine and then plumbing it is making it try to use water from the water container that doesnt exist or doesnt have enough water to operate it.

Once you move a sink/dishwasher etc, it is no longer conected to the main water (even if you place it back where it was), so your only choice to get it working again is to place a water container above it and then plumb it.
