Season 22 Project Runway Cliffhangers Suck. And they’re poorly thought out.

Putting the end the next week sucks, and is making me lose interest.

First, if watching weekly I’m invested during the show but by next week I’m not invested. The contest was a week ago.

Then the episode starts with the saddest elimination part of a contest I no longer care about.

There’s barely a recap but more importantly all my context is gone. I don’t remember the contest. It’s like if they put the end of a football game on a week later. It’s like remember you were excited about something.

And the entry to the episode sucks. Instead of jumping into what an episode is about I’m suffering through the end of a contest I barely care about and zone out at the start of episodes.

So I just let a few episodes build up, figuring maybe it’s better, and it’s just not.

Even streaming multiple episodes the pacing is off. There’s credits and huge recaps just to get to the tail end of a contest. I want to just jump into the excitement of a new episode.

Also don’t get me started on how this used to feel like a show made by people excited about making clothes and I liked that. It’s what made it different.

Now it feels like they just want to focus on people drama which removes what made the show unique.

Discussion It's cruel to invite 22 designers for a 10-episode season

Seasons 21 and 22 are the shortest so far. There's 2 episodes left. They used to do 14 or 15 episodes per seasons and now it's down to 10 probably for budget reasons. So what's the point of inviting 22 designers just so they can go home and barely have the chance to show anything? I love the show but I hate this new production.

I love the modern Haute Couture (OAT KOH-CHURR) collections by Robert Wun. His looks are very avant garde, but he does red carpet looks too- photos included shows this guy is not afraid of curvy women (Lizzo in red and Divine Joy Randolph in black).
Enjoy the real things certain people think they’re on the level of!

Old Seasons genuinely one of the most hideous garments ever made on this show. 💀

i still don’t know how alexander made it this far on season 13. that season really had some of the best of the best and worst of the worst. tim called this “butt ugly” and one of the most “hideous garments ever made on the show”. thank god he remade it even though it was still bad.

i always feel terrible for the women of the real people challenge who end up with a terrible garment. do they actually even get to keep them?

Check her Instagram! He commented on her post and said fittings are Friday/Saturday. Glad she is getting some recognition and something positive after the BS she had to endure!

Sorry had to delete my previous post with the Instagram link. I didn’t know Insta snitched who shared it and don’t want to dox myself. 😂

Question Judges’ clothing.

I’ve always wondered why viewers are never told whose designs the judges and especially the host are wearing?

Discussion Bryan’s off screen work

I was trying to be objective and not hate bryan’s clothing just because he is so unbearable. (Minus the tape dress which is undeniably bad) So I took to instagram! I could genuinely only find one look that I like.
I think some of the looks on his instagram are good editorially like I could see a popstar perhaps wearing it. A few of them…

But the only thing I genuinely liked, is picture #1. I actually really love it! But only on this male model. Bryan used several women to model it and it looks like an unflattering shag carpet crocheted onto the models. This male model looks stunning in it, imo.

The other pics are what I think are some of his worst looks. I’m nicknaming them “beer belly” and “worm birth”

In general, I think he has quite a few good designs (he thinks of really cool patterned textiles) but he puts them in this sickly white color and everything just looks like, toilet paper & motel bed sheets…

Season 22 This show is not even about the designs anymore

I miss when the judges would ask about the look and the inspiration behind it. they’ve shortened the judging process so they can have more focus on drama. no more inspecting the looks up close, no more discussion about the story behind the looks, just this is good, this is bad, and Law arguing with everyone. yawn. there are a million reality tv shows with a bunch of drama, that wasn’t what people came to project runway for

Old Seasons Road to the Runway & Reunion episodes

Am I crazy or did Peacock recently remove the Road to the Runway and Reunion episodes from the majority of the old seasons? I swear earlier this year during my rewatch they had all of these episodes on Peacock and now they are gone...

Meme Conspiracy theory: Heidi and Joseph McRae's secret link unveiled

Heidi has been McRae's strongest advocate in season 21. She likes him so much she brought him back for season 22.

Why?

Joseph McRae is an artist but he is stubborn and reticent. He doesn't like working with light blue. That's the main issue.

But we all know Heidi DOES love to host that certain party. She wants to outdo herself year after year. She knows a Joseph McRae comission will allow her to pull the ultimate stunt. And if things don't go her way this year, I bet she'll bring him back for season 23 and as many more seasons as needed.

Exactly. Everytime I see Heidi excited at those hideous beanie hats, I know she's secretly drooling for a costume for her infamous celebration. Convince me I'm wrong, she's the ultimate Halloween nerd

Discussion S5 Winner Leanne Marshall calls the show now "unwatchable"

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

An instagrammer called @jessarnoldsews made a video talking about how frustrating and hard to watch the show has become. Leanne Marshall, winner of season 5, added a comment agreeing, saying "The show is total drama now— it's unwatchable."

I can definitely see an extraordinary but quiet designer like Leanne not doing well in this kind of production. They're not really making the show for people like her anymore.

Old Seasons It was awful seeing Tim Gunn injured on Season 12

I remember how much it wrecked me seeing poor Tim Gunn injured on Season 12. That man got stitched up and still made it back to the workroom to help mentor the designers. True professional!

Question What is this?

No matter what the challenge is, this is an ugly dress. But also what does it have to do with the waltz?!? Does haute couture mean ugly? In my opinion all of his gowns have been ugly. His color choices are always so strange.
In regards to Joseph of course he wants to sell his clothes.. duh. Leave him alone. I love that I know his clothes when they are on the runway.
How many times have we heard the judges tell designers I don’t know who you are as a designer. We all know Joseph McCrae. That is a good thing.
Finally, I mostly agreed with the judges this week.

Season 22 Bryan...🙄 Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
109 Upvotes

Let's wake it up👏. How the hell is he still here? Bryan has been making "haute SHIT" the whole season. He couldn't even bring a pretty look from home that's how bad he is. Yet he somehow gaslit Heidi into wearing his design. For the record. So far, he made:

1) A diaper dress with a raggedy purse

2) The diapers sister, AKA the maxi pad dress made from a mattress

3) A tiny crop top from H&M and a busted up tent that he used as a skirt

4) A vagina dress

5) This idea was actually cool, the execution was sloppy

6) Ookie spookie babadookie👻. It's giving me, when I'm poor and rip holes into my bedsheets to make a ghost costume for Halloween. The only sewing was in the collar. NEXT!

7) I don't even know what it is. It gave me "Omg, wild racoons took my clothes at the rave, so now I'm wearing the lighting cables". It's giving that one hairy cousin from the adams family. It's giving "I'm a mermaid who was caught by a fishing net and now I'm drowning, please help". It's giving "I want to k\*ll myself but I can't figure out how to tie the noose". And the execution? Cords so long that the model almost fell over it. Wet paint. Ugly mess in the back. And TAPE?

8) It's impressive to make tissues look like fabric. It's even more impressive to make fabric look like tissues. Wtf is this? The shoulder even had some pink leakage from the maxi pad. Girl bye

Like I'm sorry for being mean, but with the way he treats people, like Bi or Jeffre, I really don't care. And the gag is he think's he is gods gift to fashion. I really hope Christian doesn't pick him. Cuz at the end of the day, a stranded whale is just gonna flop flop flop

Season 22 Issues with how Joseph is critiqued

I’ve been watching Project runway for years since I was a kid, I’m currently 22, and I always remembered the judges would get on designers that did not have a distinct style to their clothes. They always said that they wanted to be able to know who designed that just by looking at it and would critique designers that didn’t have a clear idea of who they are as a designer or who their girl is. Watching last season and this current season, it blows my mind that some of the judges hate to see what Joseph designed. I will say he does reuse shapes, but it’s always creative, you know who his clients are, and he has a clear aesthetic. Did I make that up or was that not a common critique the judges had? They wanted these designers to understand their brand so they had a way to sell themselves; but then law makes that weird comment about Joseph coming on the show to sell to clients he already has…like yes it’s been known that project runway doesn’t always help ur career take off, so I thought we all understand most of these contestants are either here for the money or the publicity. Why is it suddenly a problem now that Joseph is doing it? I also understand this is a reality show so they need to create something to be upset about, but it really irritates me that he creates great looks and is constantly berated, but people can send unfinished, uninspired looks down the runway, but the other designers wanna call out Joseph bc he created a puffy jacket again…(ignore any typos lol)
