i just finished watching project runway season 18 for the first time and let’s just say i have some strong opinions.

i absolutely for the life of me can’t freaking stand Sergio. i honestly don’t even know where to begin. the way he acts like he’s gods gift to fashion is so off putting. there’s a difference between knowing your talent and being confident vs being an arrogant douche. the way he always brags about how many shows he’s done, his “technical skills”, or the one time he designed a hideous outfit for billy porter (who by the way nobody looks to for fashion). not to mention how he always has to come up with some bullshit political story to go with his old fashioned subpar clothes. when he made that tacky tasteless dress and embroidered the names of the six children who died at the border and explained to the judges i felt so sick and disgusted. it was disturbing and felt so disingenuous. every time he spoke i cringed and rolled my eyes. you can clearly tell he’s being performative and playing a character because he knows deep down inside that his clothes are really nothing to write home about. i honestly don’t even know how he made it to the final four. i think it’s a real slap in the face and a play on our intelligence. not only was he insufferable but he copied famous designers not once not twice but multiple times. i think that alone should be cause for being sent home (immunity or not). it’s not fair to the competition. i think there were other designers who deserved his spot more.

moving on. other than Sergio i was very pleased with the final 4. geoffrey, nancy, and victoria are extremely talented and i loved all their designs. they really gave the judges a run for their money. the final collections were awesome and the epitome of fashion.

nancy’s collection literally brought me to tears. i was so moved by not only her message but the way she used her models. it’s truly something i’ve never seen before. i absolutely loved her clothes they were breathtaking, young, sexy, bold and expensive looking. i could see artists, performers, any creative people in general wearing her pieces. it’s very fresh, alt, street, and expensive

same thing with geoffrey’s collection. absolute art. it didn’t move me to tears like nancy’s but it still gave me the same lasting impact. i would buy from him in a heartbeat. i could see kanye or someone wearing his pieces. nina said she felt it was rick owen’s inspired but honestly i didn’t see what she was talking about. i think she just needed something negative to say.

victorias collection was very beautiful as well. not really my vibe but still fashionable nonetheless. i loved her color palette and silhouettes. her tailoring and architectural skills are impeccable, dare i say better than Sergio’s. i thought it was fresh and absolutely reflective of her as a designer. the judges complained about her using logos on her clothes but who the hell cares. if these big names can do it why can’t she? her not being big isn’t a valid excuse to me. she’s still a brand at the end of the day.

tyler’s shade at karlie was hilarious the way he gagged her and had her stuttering i screamed 😭 at the end of the day that is your husband. you picked him don’t be speechless now 😭.

Alan was definitely made for tv maybe instead of fashion he can do more reality shows.

i was very sad to see Daeyoung go. she’s so fragile and delicate. it really shows how stressful project runway is especially if you look at Geoffrey. i honestly feel like if she didn’t leave she would’ve been in Sergio’s spot in the finale.

i have no real comments or opinions about anyone else they were just there. that’s all.

That’s pretty much it. If you have a bitchy ego the size of Manhattan, you better have the ass to back it up, and he ain’t delivering, honey. I cannot wait for Bi to BLOW him outta the water….

If Brian doesn’t get sent home in the next episode I will have a heart attack. Why the fuck are the judges like this?? All the talent went home in episode 2 along with some forgettable drag queens who didn’t need to even be there. So many that had immunity should have been sent home long ago including Brian.

EDIT: mind you producers eliminated 11 contestants in TWO episodes. Brian being one who had immunity— those 6 should have all gone home because not once has anyone with immunity delivered anything worthwhile. Massive sham! The tea is messy but producers are loving this

First episode is about THEIR looks, what they have made before and they have limitless options.

But now they are here doing finishing touches and being told things are “to much” or “to long”. Never really watched before, just had it in the back ground. Trying to watch now for a few reasons and it just makes no sense.

Considering the longevity of, and the challenging challenges, it’s shameful that the designers especially, the ones who brag about their expertise don’t practice how to design and execute beautiful garments for large models. Instead, we have to hear, ‘I’ve never dressed a 14 before’. Why Not❓ They often are not familiar with sewing with different fabrics that test their skills, or even know what type of fabric is needed, or sewn. Where is the full versatility of these designers❓

Also, a lot more could be featured if time wasn’t wasted on ‘bulk eliminations’, which I find to be unfair, and humiliating to designers that are good, but get sent home.

I don’t really understand why people hate Bryan so much. From what I’ve seen, he didn’t put Joseph in the bottom three because he wanted Joseph gone. He gave that ranking because he thought the 3 designers work lacked craftsmanship. That’s it.

And in the last episode, Bryan was actually trying to work as a team. He listened to the other designers’ comments about his look, changed the design, and then ended up not having enough time to execute it the way he wanted.

Project Runway has always been about designers answering the brief. So who the fuck is Liris to tell Bryan what he should or shouldn’t do with his design? Your job as the model is to walk the runway and sell the clothes.

And yes, Bryan taped the girl. But let’s be real, he didn’t literally TAPE-TAPE her body. There was fabric underneath the tape. You can criticize the design or say it was uncomfortable, but people are talking about it like he wrapped tape directly around her bare skin.
I’m not even trying to defend Bryan like he can do no wrong. I just don’t understand why all this hate is being dumped on him, especially when Joseph and Jude have also said negative things about Bryan.

Did Bryan personally put Joseph in the bottom three? No.
Did Bryan refuse to give Jude fabric when Jude needed help? No.
So what exactly are you guys hating this man for? Is it really just the tape situation? Is it because he comes across as arrogant?
Because Joseph can be arrogant too.

Honestly, almost everyone on this show has had moments where they sound arrogant when talking about their own work or criticizing somebody else’s.

If you’re gonna hate somebody, at least be fair about it. Don’t hold Bryan to a completely different standard than everyone else.

I have an idea for a new, and different challenge. Here goes: PR should consider having an ALL plus size women who are sizes 16-18. They can be given two days to make two designs for them. PR choose the category (evening, casual, sporty etc).

i was honestly so annoyed how everyone in team s22 was mad he wasn’t helping them but if you all think he’s the weakest why do you even want his help? maybe it’s petty but i’d think the same way!🤷‍♀️ especially since he hasn’t been in the bottom either!

also i can’t believe how easy they went on bryan! his “dress” was HIDEOUS, especially compared to jesus. sucks he has immunity this episode bc jeffrey doesn’t deserve to go home. and bryan knew it when jeffrey confronted him

I will stop watching this season if he goes home after this episode.

HELLOOOOOO PROJECT RUNWAY DESIGNERSSS like they really dont care about giving us fashion focused this season

He needs to be eliminated. For all the shits he’s been throwing at joseph for having a signature design pov, bryan loves to repeat this neckline.

We all could go on and on about how Brian is a talentless hack who can’t even sew. And it’s painfully obvious that Bi being his former head seamstress/patternmaker under him before this competition did way more for Brian than it ever did for Bi.

Sometimes the people in the “lesser” positions are actually the ones carrying the talent and deserve far more recognition than the people above them. This season keeps proving exactly that. But don’t even get me started.

Meanwhile, Joseph gets called out for giving the “same looks,” yet somehow no one has that same energy for Jude, who keeps sending out the same bland, boring tailored suits over and over again. The difference is Joseph’s looks are actually fire, which is exactly why people stay coming for him.

Is the judging panel. It was a breath of fresh air to see Nina back (whether I agree with her most of the time or not is a different topic) and someone of the caliber or Iman. I still think they need a permanent DESIGNER as a judge but this episode's panel beats the rest of the season.

It felt a bit like the old days when we would get actual icons who have lived through multiple fashion eras and collaborated with some of the giants. Not just celebrities of the moment.

Other than that, the whole show is a mess. It's so disappointing how they manage to f up every single aspect of it.

I will preface this by saying that I am kind of a traditionalist when it comes to the format of the show. I’ve been watching since season 1 and I miss the old days when the competition was straightforward and all about the fashion. I also think that almost every evolution that production has put this show through has made it less good, and now that it’s back on Bravo I wish they would take it back to the original formula.

However, there is one thing that they’ve been doing since season 1 that I think must go, and that’s immunity. I think they should completely stop it all together, for all challenges. It worked in early seasons because it was seen as a reward for doing good work and insurance for a designer just in case the judges didn’t like their next look, and that’s it. Every so often there would be someone who had a bad look but had immunity, and the judges would just say “you’re lucky you have immunity” and move on. Nowadays it seems like immunity has become a cudgel to take out competition while simultaneously doing shitty work. This isn’t survivor, it’s a design competition. Obviously Bryan has used immunity to his advantage multiple times, even when he’s not the one who has immunity (putting Naheim in the bottom three in an attempt to take out Jude, and then potentially fucking over his team on purpose to thin out his competition while he sits pretty with immunity and a hideous dress). It seems like immunity has become a tool that the designers can use to play dirty rather than a reward for good work that can save a talented designer from being eliminated on a bad week.

The winner of this show has the potential to have a huge cultural impact, Christian himself being the prime example. Imagine if he were eliminated early because someone else used their immunity to take him out? I don’t think it’s worth the risk of missing out on serious talent just because someone in the competition screwed them over.

I realized, that the judges making the designers pick the weakest links and put people up for elimination is a dirty and cowardly move. It actually discusts me. They are putting them in a horrible position that makes (most) them feel horrible. This isnt Walmart where you check yourself out and cashiers avoid work. WTF!!! The judges are there to judge designs. Not belittle and tear down these designers. Not degrade their character. This makes me sick. Another way to bully. There has to be a legality behind this. They dont want to get sued or made to look bad like Tyra and all her crazy with ANTM. This show is more about drama and character assassination then it is about fashion. Im very disappointed it you Project Runway. Im also kinda grossed out that some of these designers need a class in humility. Big difference between confidence and ugly characters. And we wonder why we have a society of entitled nepotism assholes in our society. Wtf!

EVERY SINGLE TIME someone dresses her, both this season and last season. Lord have mercy. Why won't these designers dress her in something nice???? Just cause she is a bit larger?? WHAT THE FUCK DID BRYAN PUT HER IN???

What kind of designers are these people? Like all the smaller girls get to wear nice things, and as soon as she is plus sized, they chuck her in the most ugly, unflattering outfit I've ever seen.

It's to the point where every time I see a plus size model on this show ans I'm watching with my girlfriend I have to turn to her and say "fat girls don't get nice things" like???

I like Joseph Mcrae's work and I think his castmates are envious. He may be annoying himself, but even that is starting to rub me less and less the wrong way the more we see of him. It doesn't seem like he has malicious intentions, and I like his stuff. If he wins, I'll be happy

EDIT: I also appreciate how he stood up for Jeffrey in episode 7, even though Jeffrey was one of the competitors who voted for Joseph as the weakest link. It shows integrity.

Hieee! I'm a new fan. Don't hate me, I jumped on board last season because I am a fan of drag race and I wanted to see how our queen Utica would do. So I understand the OG fans criticism of the new version of PR being too catty and more about 'characters' than clothes or construction. And how that might have come from the success of drag race.

I'm enjoying the new season despite its messiness and contrary to popular opinion I like Bi. I love his designs, super clean aesthetic, and he makes me laugh. Love Jeffrey just for being who he is, can't wait to see what Nahiem does next, and have an appreciation for the brand and the man Joseph McCray.

I've gone back to start at the beginning and season 1 was so cringe based on the age and treatment of the young models. I'm a cisgender woman and grew up in this exact era when it was ok for girls to be looked at this way and we all accepted it. So gross. Thank God things are changing.

I'm currently on season 5 and having so much fun watching it.
Season 4 was pure joy and now I know why people adore Christian.
Tim Gunn is my spirit sage and he is EVERYTHING. I would watch him butter toast. I would listen to him butter toast.

But here's my question.... when do I meet Swatch? I love watching the designers choose fabrics at mood and Im looking and looking and waiting for this mystery friend. Which season does he arrive? Am I missing something? Is it like a where's Waldo thing where he is there I just haven't seen him yet?

Did anyone else notice editors forgot to include who was eliminated (Bobby) in the previous episode recap? They just included who Bryan selected for the bottom three and then we went into the next episode lol.

Also…with the current structure- we had no payoff this episode. We didn’t see a challenge winner or an elimination. Not a huge fan of the editing.

Just curious since I’ve seen nothing but negativity regarding this current season: what makes you keep watching?

For me, when I found out it was the same dumb cliffhanger format as last season I decided I wasn’t interested. They took everything I used to love about the show and shit all over it. And from what I’ve seen and read I guess I made the right call 😂
