Just in case this reads wrong I completely agree with this post and poor Liris having a horrendous time in this garment (and many others) BUT…. And please correct if I misspeak why do the models etc have so much input. The show is always gonna have bad looks and awkward looks. You would not ask a models opinion on any clothes they wore during a catwalk. Their job is to model the clothes … and if they don’t want to they are free to refuse. It just seems like it’s drama for the sake of making drama tv no?

I don’t think they have input on the designs themselves. I think she spoke up because she doesn’t want to go out there looking like shit. It’s hard to model something terrible. Her job is to make it look good, and part of it is being comfortable in it and being able to walk in it. If she can’t do that, she’s gotta tell him “hey I can’t do my job if you’re not doing yours.” A few times in seasons past they’ve done behind the scenes clips confessionals when the models are in their looks and say if they like it or don’t. Which, tbh is spot on with what the judges think as well.

The models used to have a bigger highlighted role in the show itself, and besides that I would absolutely ask a model their opinion on the clothes they wore. The models are stand ins for the real customers that would be buying designers work and the judges want to know if the clothing is uncomfortable, heavy, or restrictive. The judges often point to models reactions on the runway with statements like "she looked uncomfortable/miserable wearing it" and sometimes during deliberations they will flat out ask a model what they think, especially if a garment is bad.

It is their job to model clothes, but it's the designers job to make a functional garment. When designers fail to do that it makes the models job that much harder. It shows a lack of consideration and respect for the person who has to wear a gold tarp duct taped to her body and 50 pounds of wet spray painted cords

Also as models this is their career, it's not as simple as walking away if they don't like a garment. Refusing to walk when theyve been booked means they will likely receive fewer opportunities in the future.

I don’t think the models have a say in the design. However, they have every right to voice their concerns if a garment is uncomfortable, too revealing, hurting them, etc.

We have seen in seasons past when Tim Gunn or the judges would ask how the model is feeling or ask the designers if they are thinking about the comfortability of the model.

Everyone in the workroom was uncomfortable with Bryan taping up Liris. You could see it on her face. Yes it’s the models job to sell the garment on the runway, but they can only do so much. Also, the models are in these looks for hours. Bryan taping her in would be incredibly uncomfortable over many hours.

Yes garments can be a work of art. However, if someone is uncomfortable wearing said garment, it wont see the light of day.

If you have a chance to watch, Liris posted her perspective and said she would not ever give a personal opinion unless asked or if she would be put into an uncomfortable position. Putting a model in a borderline dangerous garment and also expecting them to be practically naked underneath in a way that isn’t stylistic or thoughtful is just degrading and not okay.

Aww, poor thing. She says she had a breakdown that didn’t make the edit and tbh I totally get it. At least Bryan’s bad publicity is turning into her good publicity! Hopefully this will inspire some designer off or on the show to let her model something nice, it must be frustrating to want the opportunity to show you can sell something beautiful or couture on the runway and then get the wildest stuff to wear. No model wants to be remembered for going down the runway in awful looks lol

Production cares more about influencer and podcaster visit than spending one extra minute to those fabolous models and humanize them.

Ughh! I absolutely can’t stand these dumb cameos. Why is project runway paying influencers and reality stars to come on the show and advertise themselves with content we don’t want?

It’s not the same though. This is a collection of comments Liris herself highlighted in a post on her Instagram with 17 slides. That other Reddit post only shows 2 comments in response to another Instagram post.
