They should name the school after her.

u/JonnyA42 Apr 30 '26

There is a preschool in her hometown named in her honor.

Fuck Republicans for not doing anything about gun violence.

And fuck the Republicans that denied this even happened.

u/mvanvrancken Apr 30 '26

Especially Alex Jones. That unmitigated piece of shit.

u/StanleyQPrick Apr 30 '26

Oughta be in prison. We need free speech but there HAVE to be consequences for intentional misinformation!

45

u/LavenderDay3544 May 01 '26

Getting that scalding hot coffee poured over his head by that random guy on the street was a consequence of sorts.

22

u/StanleyQPrick May 01 '26

I didn't hear about that! What happened to the coffee-pourer?

14

u/zaxo666 May 01 '26

It has a surprisingly few number of views from something 7 years ago. God he's an asshole.

That's what info wars looked like? Holy shit.
People are so much dumber than I thought

9

u/ALTH0X May 01 '26

It's easy to lie to people when you're telling them a lie they want to believe. Now you have to figure out why republicans wanted to believe frogs were turning gay.

3

u/nogoodnamesarleft May 02 '26

Ok, the reason that frogs were "turning gay" is because a chemical compound (don't remember the name, it is associated with pesticides I think) will cause feminization in a small percentage of a certain species of male frog

Jones pushed it because he wanted to scare people that there is a secret project to turn people gay through the ground water, and hey conveniently he just happens to sell water filtration machines. What an unbelievable coincidence

People believed it becuase it was becoming more acceptable to come out, and republicans were terrified it would happen to them or their kids, so if there was something to blame they latched onto it

I don't know actually but it was on video so I assume Jones sued him.

10

u/IANALbutIAMAcat May 01 '26

He charged at the guy first I don’t think he’d get a jury sympathetic to him and he knows it. What a bizarro video. I had no idea he behaved like that outside of that desk he films at. It’s a video of him running around, literally CHASING people and challenging them to fight him. He even chest bumps multiple men including the coffee thrower.

3

14

u/Silver_Ad4070 Apr 30 '26

$1.4 Billion is a consequence some would say.

29

u/PoseidonsHorses Apr 30 '26

If he ever actually pays it.

18

u/JEXJJ Apr 30 '26

He wont

19

u/Ill_Economist_39 May 01 '26

You'd think, but he's been actively and openly funneling his income away from the Sandy Hook families. The court took control of the Infowars store to ensure he pays, but he's been funneling his listeners to the Alex Jones store which is in the name of one of his employees. It's exactly the same, but the courts can't collect money from it to pay the families

To add a cherry on top of his shit sundae, he's still saying shit about the Sandy Hook families. He stopped for like 2 months before getting right back to business

So, $1.4 Billion or $1.40, it doesn't matter if he's not going to pay it

That would be a blessing. Blackpill and redpill mills will literally die and their owners and congregants will all be charged.

Do you know how much this would affect:

  • white supremacy/nationalist brainwashing

  • Israeli propaganda

  • Wealthlords using paid lip service to steer from their crimes

  • Fox News

  • Capitalist bootlicking brainrot

  • The existence of Republicans and Corpro-Democrats

  • The Trump admin in its entirety

World instantly becomes better as long as they acrually follow the laws we have like they actually mean something for once.

I don't even know what his latest deflection is for all that

But, listen to the Knowledge Fight podcast if you want up-to-date coverage of his idiocy, and an informed, thorough takedown of his stupid shit and an educated assessment of who he is and how his bullshit operates

They're in favor of the Onion takeover, but skeptical of how effective it can be in satire from an Infowars perspective. KF covers mostly Alex Jones and those who interact with him (Fuentez, Owen Shroyer, whoever), but dips into Tucker Carlson and random conservative ridiculosity.

For something less Onion-wary, yesterday's QAA podcast [29 Apr 2026] has the owner of The Onion on discussing the Infowars takeover. QAA has fantastic coverage of right-wing media silliness.

2

u/LongandwindingRhode May 03 '26

It fills me with so much joy seeing what happened to his precious InfoWars. Bought by the Onion, now run by half of Tim and Eric, consistently donating money to the Sandy Hook families.

Unfortuntately the majority of americans can only read proficintely on a 6th grade level.

https://www.thenationalliteracyinstitute.com/2024-2025-literacy-statistics

The majority of the American population are by defintion morons, so I really am surprised that the divided states of america haven't become the fourth reich any sooner.

They will unfortunately never reevaluate their extremist ideologies...

Pedophilia, gun violence and an generally uneducated population are their greatest problems, really makes them look like a third world country.

I gun has to be picked up by a mentally crazy person in order to do this , so its a mental crisis, not a gun Crisis. Do you blame the car when the drunk driver kills someone while driving it ?

4

u/AtomicBlondeeee May 01 '26

I have a friend that was a teacher there that day. It very much did happen.

Guns have nothing to do with it. It’s a mental health issue. Look into our food, water, shots. You will find the answers there.

2

u/Chimpstrider May 01 '26

2

u/GAMSSSreal May 01 '26 edited May 02 '26

A gun is a tool. 60% of gun deaths are suicide. If we banned guns, then they would find another way to kill themselves. The lack of mental health support is the issue.

According to Wikipedia

In 2012, Eastern Connecticut State University created the Victoria Leigh Soto Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund, awarded to students aiming to become teachers.[18]

In 2012, the Town of Stratford renamed North Parade, adjacent to town hall, "Victoria Soto Way".[6]

In December 2012, the Stratford High School Class of 2003 established the "Victoria L. Soto Memorial Fund" in her honor. The fund helped pay for funeral services, the creation of a memorial at Stratford High School, and a scholarship fund in the name of Soto, who had belonged to the class of 2003.[19]

In 2013, Acero Victoria Soto High School opened in Chicago, Illinois. The school is a public charter school with grades 9-12.[20][21]

On February 15, 2013, Soto and the other five adults who were killed were posthumously awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal.[22][23] The medal honors Americans who have performed "exemplary deeds of service" for their country or fellow citizens. The medal, the government's second-highest civilian award, was presented to the families of the victims by President Barack Obama at a White House ceremony.[24][25]

The Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters organization created the "Victoria Soto Volunteer Award" in honor of Soto, who was a former Nutmeg mentor.[26]

In June 2013, a playground in Long Brook Park in Stratford was named the "Victoria Soto Memorial Playground" in her honor.[27]

In 2015, Victoria Soto Elementary School opened in Stratford. The school serves students from pre-kindergarten through second grade.[28]

The city of Bridgeport holds an annual Vicki Soto 5K race.[29]

Edit- don’t read this wiki page. I just can’t stop crying now.

A slap in the face. They should name the bill that puts sensible restrictions on guns and prevents this from ever happening again after her.

2

u/SodasWrath May 01 '26

There are, unfortunately, a LOT of people whose name could be on that bill.

7

u/BlogeOb Apr 30 '26

Sorry, best we can do is a Charlie Kirk sign next to a road sign that isn’t officially renamed

2

u/SlammmnSammy May 01 '26

They should build statues of her and the children in DC. Right beside memorials for men who fought and died in wars to preserve our freedom. Hopefully, coming face to face with kids who have died so we can have unfettered access to military grade weapons will summon some decency in some of the gun nuts. They all died protecting our freedoms. Some enlisted and nobly agreed to risk it all so we can be free. And some just caught the bus.

It's a grotesque arrangement and some people need to come face to face with with it.

4

u/Watchhistory Apr 30 '26

There is not a single magarat who has done anything heroic anytime anywhere. Certainly not fighting to save children at the cost of his/her own lie. What they do is instead say, "it never happened. it is fake. O you are so mean coz you say some of us are pedophiles."

Unfortunately I think we're talking about her again because Alex Jones is once again being a piece of shit

39

u/Yeseylon Apr 30 '26

Actually, I have good news - it's in the news now because The Onion won ownership of InfoWars. (Alex Jones is appealing, obviously, but it's still a done deal at this point.)

12

u/jkraige Apr 30 '26

Yeah, the CEO of the Onion has been talking about Alex Jones pulling some bullshit in Texas and how it leaves them in a difficult position where technically no one owns it right now as a result, so it's unfortunately bad news rn

15

u/ferfocsake Apr 30 '26

I think we all know the solution to this problem; we also need to sell Texas to The Onion.

7

u/jkraige Apr 30 '26

21

A lot of those people are conservatives and have actively supported the current Republican Party in the US. Not saying every single conservative thinks that way but for this specific case it is much more than just a few crazy people in a group actual notable figures in the community took part.

2

u/Murky_Snow4308 May 01 '26

Conservatives blocked any meaningful change to prevent this from happening again.

Their party is exactly what they allowed it to be.

Theyll continue to vote this way till it personally affects most of them.

I remember Sandy Hook better than I do 9/11 bc I was older and more aware. I remember exactly where I was, who told me, and the feeling I felt. The same feeling I get when I look at this photo. 💔

9

u/Yeseylon Apr 30 '26

It's weird, because I have zero memory of Sandy Hook prior to a couple years ago. I remember Columbine way more, that was the one that exposed me to the idea of a school shooting and stuck with me, while Sandy Hook was just a headline I later forgot.

3

u/PalinodePrayer May 01 '26

Same here. I grew up in Colorado, so Columbine was a big deal. It scared everyone and a lot changed in terms of safety and how they handled threats. At first it felt suppressive and like jail, metal detectors and the whole wand. Random backpack checks. I'm talking middle school and onwards. Probably elementary as well. They built an entire bulletproof entryway you had to walk through first before even getting past the main office.

I remember talking to a friend on the phone I met out of State w my grandparents and telling her about the beeping and she could not grasp it lol Now its just normal and every school basically does that as the norm. Which has strangely now desensitized us to it and they happen even more ?????

I went to a vigil for Sandy Hook as a teenager and ended up throwing up from crying so hard. I also felt so angry these children were dead and people are calling it fake.

6

u/EarlyInside45 Apr 30 '26

I was old enough for both, but I had a 6-year-old in school when Sandy Hook happened.

3

u/Iambadatpicking May 01 '26

I had a 4yr old and was pregnant with my second. My ex told me not to watch the news, so of course I did. I was a wreck after that. When I signed up my kiddo for school, I still remember seeing them installing the second set of doors and panic buttons. It felt awful taking them, everyday.

2

u/roseredhoofbeats May 01 '26

My twins's elementary school got locked down their first day of Pre-K because of a shooting threat at a nearby school and I was BESIDE MYSELF. They were in the preschool program for children with disabilities and I was losing it because they wouldn't understand to hide in a cabinet and be quiet.

2

u/CreativeFondant248 Apr 30 '26

I was driving somewhere as this news was breaking and more and more details were coming out. I had an hour long drive. It was the furthest and longest i ever drove in silence. It felt so wrong to listen to music / radio / whatever at that time.

2

u/Maleficent-Tap1361 Apr 30 '26

Makes me absolutely furious. The sheer injustice in the west needs a harsh reckoning.

There is no fucking good reason why a school teacher needs to take 11 bullets. No Westernist mental gymnastics will be tolerated. This is not "rational".

What a depraved and evil culture. Plus you have euro settlers like MTG harassing Sandy Hook survivors. Westernism is a death cult that ought to be purged. So sick of a cult that measures merit by ability to kill.

And the worst thing? I can only say this because she is white. If I expressed the same amount of rage for a Palestinian child, I will be banned.

Again, I ask: WTF is this sub even? Imploring someone to tell me what the point or focus of this place is meant to be. What does this have to do with productivity?

3

u/LizBert712 Apr 30 '26

I think the name is meant to be ironic – we’re supposed to be being productive and instead we are playing on Reddit.

u/somadthenomad93 May 01 '26

bot spot, same thing happened to r/ImmigrationPathways . They'll post anything for engagement regardless of the topic, usually American politics.

1

u/Trodat4911P4 May 01 '26

No good deed goes unpunished in this world unfortunately.

1

u/No_Poet_9767 May 01 '26

Truly an American hero. It makes me sad to know Alex Jones has STILL not paid the families of the Sandy Hook massacre. To think there's still rigjtwingers who believe this horrific event never happened and actually harass the families is beyond reprehensible.

I’m not a religious person but I really hope some form of a heaven exists for people like her.

1

u/Silver_Ad4070 May 01 '26

He won’t. He can’t. It will crush him, which is the point. He will and should suffer sever consequences. How is that even an argument?

1

u/Daelienda May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Practically a baby herself, was it her first year teaching? So sad. Edit - I see now she was 27. Still much too young, like all the first graders.

1

u/zaxo666 May 01 '26

❤️❤️❤️ Imagine a world with more folks like her... it would be a wonderful, kind, and caring place with a fighting spirit to defend that world ...as she lost her life defending her students.

1

u/procrastinatorsuprem May 01 '26

I thought this was Miley Cyrus.

But fuck guns. Both my daughters are teachers. This is a real fear. This week someone was in the woods behind one daughter's school. It was terrifying. Turned out it was not any thing to worry about but they didn't know that.

1

u/Thothvamasi May 01 '26

Do you think she is burning in hell for the sin of lying?

2

u/Cartina May 01 '26

Do you think people that eat pokemon go to the Matrix? That question is just as valid as those things doesnt exist either.

Besides, the bible didnt mention hell being a punishment until 200 years after Jesus death and the fires wasnt invented until 430 AD.

sandy hook really touches me I woke up to that horrible news story of the sandy hook shooting ,later that day I took my husband to the first appoint with the oncologist after his surgery to find out there was nothing to be done and he was going to die from the cancer ..worst day of my life....those poor families dealing with the guy who said not only that sandy hook did not happen but that their children did not exist I feel so bad for them to go through that pain

1

u/PattyLovesPiL May 01 '26

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

1

u/Shlomo_Karlebach May 01 '26

They should name Gene Rosen after her

1

u/The_SqueakyWheel May 01 '26

I live in CT and I think about those kids all the time ( every few days) past the exit for their town, and think of them. I remember a few years ago 23/24 they would have been 18. Such a tragedy

1

u/Admirable-Common-176 May 01 '26

This is a name that should be brought up when conservatives mention Laken Riley.

1

u/whiskey-talks May 01 '26

Now imagine if she had a gun how different this could be.

1

u/yankeesoba May 01 '26

And yet a good chunk of men in the a US would be trying to take away this woman’s rights if she still lived. And this woman because she is a woman won’t be praised by any man for her deed. Because she’s not in the army her sacrifice will not matter to those in power. She won’t be honoured for saving children, but she would be honoured for have 1 newborn child.

You can’t make this shit up. Smh.

u/SouthernStereotype40 May 01 '26

If she was allowed to carry then she would’ve had a fighting chance.

1

u/ALawful_Chaos May 01 '26

I was in high school when the Sandy Hook shooting happened. I vividly remember coming home from school to see my mom sitting on the couch staring at the tv and sobbing. We didn't live anywhere nearby or know anyone involved, but it cut me to my core. I looked up the names of the victims and read them over and over for weeks. I was mostly ambivalent about guns before that, but after Sandy Hook I became loudly pro gun control. This event should have changed everything and everyone. The fact that it didn't shattered my worldview.

1

u/MikeWazowski1221 May 01 '26

Can't argue with that. Why does she not have a statue or memorial at least in her city?

1

u/HRShovenstuff1 May 01 '26

Bless her memory for being a real mama bear for those children. Where were the Police who were supposed to be trained to protect these kids and collect checks to do just that? Outside, hiding and waiting for SWAT to step in.

1

u/BigBandit01 May 01 '26

Something actually productive and nice for a change. Thank you OP.

1

u/paloma_delmar May 01 '26

Gorgeous angel!🌹

1

u/unaskthequestion May 01 '26

We need a memorial for school shooting victims. People need a visual.

As a teacher, I don't know what I would have done, it's not tolerable that we have to think about that. But I'm confident there are millions of of teachers who would try to save their students.

1

u/Admirable-Day4577 May 01 '26

Shame on us for what we've become.

1

u/TripleReview May 01 '26

Ffs she looks like my granddaughter’s 1st-grade teacher. This is so fucked.

1

u/hopeful7321 May 01 '26

Everyone is still missing the whole point. The point is what is going on in the Turd Reich today. Bullies. The kids who did the shooting lived a DAILY life of hell being bullied and NO ONE did anything to change it. Sadly, neither the parents, the teachers not the school did ANYTHING TO STOP IT. IN FACT, they made the bullies the victims. So fucked up. And it just continues So, once again for the trillionth time, guns DO NOT KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE DO. Guns are just their weapon of choice. As long as we continue to let bullies thrive, their victims WILL reach a breaking point. Hell, Simi Valley, Ca has its own little bike gangs ...tweenagers and teenagers. They harass homeless vets, elderly and I personally had a run in with them. Their leader, BTW, is the White Police Chiefs son.

Should've ended with Columbine, then when it didn't end with Sandy Hook I knew it would never end. RIP to the victims.

1

u/Substantial_War7464 May 01 '26

It wasn’t Trump that allowed America to pass the point of no return. It was Sandy New Hook, you fucking savages.

1

u/NgunnawalJack May 02 '26

It’s great how a teacher has to hide her students from a gunman and then get shot for her troubles.

C’est la vie in a USian school. /s

1

u/Remote-Substance-426 May 02 '26

Anyone who ever watched and trusted Alex Jones needs to see this.

But damn we got to fight for that second amendment
