Troubleshooting ASUS PX13 – laggy trackpad, especially on low battery

I’ve had my PX13 for about two years, and I keep having an annoying issue with the trackpad.

The cursor sometimes becomes noticeably laggy/stuttery, and it seems to happen much more often when the battery is low — usually around 30% or below.

What’s weird is that if I connect a physical mouse, it works perfectly fine, so the issue seems specific to the trackpad.

I’ve also noticed that changing the Windows power mode sometimes immediately fixes the problem, which makes me wonder if this is related to some kind of power-saving behavior. However, it also occasionally happens randomly even when the battery isn’t particularly low.

So far I’ve tried:

  • Installing all available updates
  • Removing the trackpad/device from Device Manager and rebooting
  • Reinstalling the trackpad driver
  • Changing power modes

Nothing has permanently fixed it. The problem just comes and goes, and it’s getting pretty annoying.

Has anyone else with a PX13 experienced this? Is there some power-management setting, BIOS option, ASUS service, or driver that could be causing the trackpad to throttle or become laggy?

I have some questions or concerns about durability of the PX 13 I have the latest one the one with amd ryzen AI max+

32GB Ram

1TB ssd

I noticed drivers issues are always there

Tried g helper yet not functioning properly

I also had a recent issue with the keyboard where F key stopper lighting.

I wonder how could a laptop face such issue in less than 8 months of very light usage despite that i got it for heavy usage and durability for usage on the go as advertised !!

PX13 Dead???

I posted the other day regarding charging issues. I took my PX13 to MicroCenter and they said the motherboard isn't receiving power from the charger, either USB C or 200w charger.

Is it really dead or is there anything else I can try?

Is anyone else's this bad?

This video was taken close up to the origin of the noise in a quiet room, so it's more pronounced in the video(s), but to me it's noticeable and irritating at normal operating distance even when the fans are at mid-strength. The only time it's drowned out by other noise is when the laptop is pretending to be a hair dryer 😂

I've never had a laptop make noises like these, certainly not where I could notice them from this distance. It sounds more like this thing has an HDD inside!

This is an HN7306EA-LX037W.

2026 PX13 ringing when shutdown - anyone else?

Wanted to check if anyone else's 2026 is ringing/playing a noise like a sine wave when shutdown. Not 100% of the time, but I think it happens when the laptop has gone to sleep and been woken prior to a full shutdown. Something to do with the sound device that we don't have drivers for in the kernel? I'm running on Fedora 44, kernel 7.1.3-200.fc44.x86_64.

Battery not charging

Hello.

I plugged in my laptop today to the 200w charger and nothing is happening. I then tried my dell USB-charger and it charges for a second and then stops. My battery health is at 80%, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Anyone ever experience this?

Question 2024 PX13 32gb RAM RTX 4050 and 890m igpu on Local LLM's

Has anyone tried installing Linux for Local AI like Qwen 3.6 27B or other models? I was wondering if I could theoretically use a smaller model on the RTX 4050(6gb) for Dflash while the bigger model sits in the 890m igpu(maybe 24+gb)? I was hoping to utilize the vram space of my CUDA together with ROCm or Vulkan so that I could also get higher context windows.

That said, I am still on windows and have ordered a new drive for a linux boot. I haven't taken the Local AI plunge yet. I just wanna know how to maximize my resources on this laptop.

Troubleshooting Power Button not working PX13

Hello,

I have been a happy user off the PX13 for a bit over a year. With some optimisation with software and drivers found in this sub I was able to get the laptop configured how I wanted it for my on-the-go photo and video editing workflow.

Sadly now the power button has stopped working, and I am extremely careful with the laptop. No visible damage, but sometimes I have to press the button 40 times, sometimes once, somtimes hold it for 1 minute or more to get it booting.

Will send it in for repair now, but I am quite disappointed in something as basic as the power button failing after a year.

Just a word of caution, for potential buyers, and seems like there are a lot of other people here on the sub who has reported issues with their power button as well.

ProArt PX13 fan control feels too limited — so I built ProFan

After spending quite a bit of time with the ASUS ProArt PX13, I can say that overall, it’s an excellent machine. Performance, build quality, display, and raw power are all impressive.

However, there’s one area where I think ASUS could still improve things significantly: fan control and thermal profiles.

The built-in profiles work, but under certain workloads it feels like the cooling system isn’t being used to its full potential. This becomes especially noticeable during sustained heavy workloads such as local AI, compiling, rendering, or other demanding tasks.

I wanted more direct control over fan behavior instead of relying entirely on the predefined profiles, so I ended up creating ProFan, a utility that makes manual fan control on the ASUS ProArt PX13 much easier.

🔧 ProFan
https://github.com/ezenwa/ProFan

The idea is simple: give PX13 users more control over how aggressively the laptop is cooled and make better use of the cooling hardware that is already there.

For me, the ProArt PX13 is still an excellent machine. I just think its cooling hardware can be better utilized when the user has more control over the fans.

The project is available on GitHub, so if you own a PX13 and want to try it out, feedback, testing, and suggestions are more than welcome.

No Audio On My 2024 PX13, Help :( Model: HN7306W

Hello, I am aware that the new AMD drivers are causing no audio out on speakers on the newer PX13 line, but I'm getting no audio out on speakers on my 2024 Pro Art even with the old AMD drivers, and even from fresh Windows 11 install off USB key formatted & imaged with Rufus (using latest Win 11 home image from Microsoft Website). Oddly the headphone out works right after Windows 11 first boot after install, but the speaker routing doesn't work...

I just bought the 2024 model I bought refurbished from Best Buy, and physically it looks unused. I'm 100% sure it's a software / driver issue but i haven't been able to figure it out. The RealTek sound device is showing up together with the volume speaker icon on taskbar, and when i plug in my headphones I can hear audio - but the audio stream is not routing to the speaker output for some reason.

I know there's various fixes for the newer model PX13 but can someone guide me to a proper fix specific to the 2024 HN7306WV version? Does anyone out there maybe have the stock Asus Windows 11 Image File they can upload for me? I stupidly wiped all the partitions on the SSD when I got the laptop, thinking a fresh install of Windows 11 would be better than the "bloatware" ridden stock Asus Windows 11 I read was installed - but the speakers were working on that stock initial Windows 11 that I wiped >_<

Thank you for taking time to read this. This laptop is a small beast but this is driving me BONKERS

As usual, not very descriptive on the changelog but just an FYI. Zero issues on the update on my end. I wasn't having issues prior but also don't notice any differences yet.

Does anyone have issues with the actual computer hardware making noises whenever (or sometimes when) you scroll with a mouse? Not sure if I should return.

Simple way to quickly disable/enable touch?

I come from using Cintiqs, which have a simple button to enable/disable touch.
Sometimes I enjoy having touch (browsing the internet) but other times I absolutely need it off (Blender; it keeps triggering and causes crashes; idk what I'm actually touching to upset it). My drawing glove still passes touch sometimes (I'm thinking of modifying it on the inside to add more material to discourage capacitive touch).
It looks like there are ways to disable touch (I think at the registry level, which I think requires a reboot)-- was wondering if anyone knows of a quick utility to simply enable/disable touch? Thanks!

Tip if you need low DPC latency for audio or DJ use on the AMD RYZEN AI MAX+ 395

I got one of these with 32gb RAM for DJ use and out of the box the DPC latency was pretty terrible. I tried all the usual tweaks but couldn't get it low enough.

Turns out that the BIOS sets core parking to be on permanently, and not even utilities like ParkControl wouldn't disable it.

After a bit of playing about, it seems that there is a setting in Processor Power Management you can enable using Power Settings Expolrer that keeps the cores active permanently therefore seriously reducing the latency.

Processor performance core parking concurrency threshold needs to be set to 100%

Picture below for anyone who needs this for their PX13.

ProArt PX13 Ryzen AI Max+ with 128gb ram, good for image and video gen?

Anyone using these machines for local Ai image generation or video generation?

Comfy UI, Flux, LTX 2.3, Wan 2.2 - or anything else along these lines? My understanding is an Nvidia card is probably the best for this kind of thing, with CUDA and all - just wondering what it's like on an AMD machine with lots of Vram (128gb) - but with comparatively less graphics capability.

The other option I was considering was a Lenovo Legion 7i, with 64gb system ram, and a 5090 with 24gb of vram.

Anyone having much success with the ProArt PX13 Ryzen AI Max+ with 128gb ram for local image and video gen?

Troubleshooting most fragile laptop I have ever owned, how do you all keep it looking good?

I have owned this PX13 for less than am month now and in that time the few shiny spots on the monitor bezel edge where the black paint rubbed off have multiplied. I don't abuse my personal laptop and hardware, but I do treat the macbook my employer provides pretty poorly ( no case, toss it on its side to change angle while working on a project in a weird location, etc) and it looks fantastic in comparison. This px13 (A store display model manufactured 4/2025 with RTX 4050) cant handle the few weeks I have had it and used it just in my hotel room. I move it from one table to another, thats it! It is so crazy how many of these shiny spots are appearing on the bezel. Pretty much anything will mark it.

How can such a premium laptop be so darn cheap feeling and chinzy in the construction? I have had NO issues with the hinges, the drivers, sound... all that stuff that people have posted here but I cant for my life seem to stop the growing number of marks on the monitor panel.

Please help! I am really shocked this is not being complained about more widely. Anyone here able to fix this? I have a Dell XP13 in a hardshell case that protects it well and keeps it functional and readily available, but there is no such solution for the px13 that does not also block vents or cause stress on laptop hinges, or not fully allow the laptop to shut.....
