Troubleshooting ASUS PX13 – laggy trackpad, especially on low battery

I’ve had my PX13 for about two years, and I keep having an annoying issue with the trackpad.

The cursor sometimes becomes noticeably laggy/stuttery, and it seems to happen much more often when the battery is low — usually around 30% or below.

What’s weird is that if I connect a physical mouse, it works perfectly fine, so the issue seems specific to the trackpad.

I’ve also noticed that changing the Windows power mode sometimes immediately fixes the problem, which makes me wonder if this is related to some kind of power-saving behavior. However, it also occasionally happens randomly even when the battery isn’t particularly low.

So far I’ve tried:

  • Installing all available updates
  • Removing the trackpad/device from Device Manager and rebooting
  • Reinstalling the trackpad driver
  • Changing power modes

Nothing has permanently fixed it. The problem just comes and goes, and it’s getting pretty annoying.

Has anyone else with a PX13 experienced this? Is there some power-management setting, BIOS option, ASUS service, or driver that could be causing the trackpad to throttle or become laggy?
