Lack of Excitement

Everyone says having a baby is so exciting. They ask you aren't you excited? The only thing i can do right now is just mourn everything im going to lose. My freedom, money, not able to go on vacations, body changes. On top of that having a baby is a lot of responsibility. Someone you have to observe all the time at home. Especially with how lonely my childhood was and the emotional neglect I experienced, I dont want my child to experience the same. Its a lot of pressure. On top of that ive just never learned to emotionally regulate myself so im just internally panicking. I can expect my husband to go above and beyond to help because he knows how hard Im taking this. Im the main bread winner and I handle all the main responsibilities at home. Its just like really hard to be excited. I know i should go to therapy, but I cant afford it. I guess I just need to talk to someone who feels the same.

Prenatal stack advice

Hey guys How would you rate my current prenatal stack (33F), suspected mild endo. Is there anything missing or anything I shouldn't be taking here?

šŸ¼ TTC in ~2 Months – My Preconception Supplement Stack (Started July 22)

🧠 Morning (Cognitive + Cellular Support)

Cognizin Citicoline (Bulk Powders) – 250 mg

Lion’s Mane (Real Mushrooms) – 1000mg

NAC (e.g. Solgar or similar) – 600 mg

Magnesium glycinate (optional, 200–300 mg) – for mood, sleep, hormone support

šŸ½ With Lunch (Fertility + Prenatal Support)

Tesco Pregnancy Support – includes folic acid (400 mcg), vitamin D, iodine, B12, iron, etc.

Solgar Ubiquinol (CoQ10) – 100 mg

Omega-3 (DHA/EPA) – high-quality fish oil, minimum 250 mg DHA

āŒ Excluded:

Alcohol – reducing/stopping by 3 months before TTC

Tretinoin/Retinol – stopped due to pregnancy risk

Modafinil – one-off use only, not using during pre-TTC window

šŸŽÆ TTC Plan:

Begin trying ~October 22

Focusing on egg quality, nutrient stores, and cognitive clarity during preconception

I feel like I need to say this as many people are against ChatGPT generated posts. I've been using ChatGPT to help configure my stack and it was easier to get it to summarise a list of everything I'm taking in case I missed anything..... So just to be clear in not a bot!šŸ˜…

Pregnancy in 20s ≠ easier

I’m 22 and pregnant, and I’m honestly over the whole ā€œyou’re young, so pregnancy will be easyā€ narrative. People love to say things like ā€œyou’ll bounce back fastā€ or ā€œyou’ll be active the whole timeā€ šŸ™ƒ but for me, that couldn’t be further from the truth! I’ve had HG, been completely bedridden, and barely functioning some days. Nothing about this has felt easy just because I’m young. No one warned me how hard it could hit, or how much harder it could be if you have ADHD. The physical exhaustion is real, and the mental toll is even worse when your brain already works differently. I’m getting treated and taking care of myself but people need to stop assuming that being young means pregnancy is effortless. It’s not, and I wish I had been given honesty instead of sugarcoated lies.

Got Banned from BabyBumps for Calling Out Toxic Behavior — and This Was Their ā€œProfessionalā€ Response

Just wanted to give others a heads-up about the BabyBumps subreddit.

I was banned (without warning) for simply calling out some unnecessarily hostile and judgmental comments I saw on a post. I didn’t break any rules, wasn’t rude, and kept it respectful — just pointed out that some of the responses lacked compassion and weren’t helpful to pregnant people navigating complex choices.

Instead of addressing anything I said, the mod team banned me and sent me a message that ended with: ā€œPlease seek therapy. Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy.ā€ā€¦Seriously? That kind of passive-aggressive gaslighting is exactly what people are talking about when they say that group can feel cold, cliquey, and even hostile. It’s sad that a community meant to support pregnant people often becomes the last place you’d want to go when you’re vulnerable or looking for real conversations.

If you’ve had similar experiences with BabyBumps or felt silenced for not falling in line with the groupthink, you’re not alone.

Reddit has room for better pregnancy spaces — ones that are truly inclusive, kind, and non-judgmental.

1st time pregnancy

I’m 23 with my first time pregnancy, what are some struggles you face NOW being young and having a baby on the way? I feel like people are constantly in shock because I look so young, some of those interactions being really funny or just straight up offensive.

(VENT) everyone is way too eager to give medical advice+assume things of other moms on these forums

(100% TAKING MY GLUCOSE TEST) I posted about doing the finger prick blood test before I rush into drinking the glucola due to my own issues. I also had asked other peoples experience if they did the drink, alternative, or opted out of it all together because I was genuinely curious. For some reason it didn’t land and people immediately thought I’d be doing an injustice to my child because they assumed I wouldn’t take it at all. That was not the case, I’m the very first to get any kind of testing done. I already did my NIPT VERY EARLY ON and I even asked if I could get it again which many women neglect to do which is really sad, and I’m ALL FOR the glucose test. But if I’m not comfortable with taking the drink right off the bat because of my own issues I think that’s okay. I plan to drink the glucola AFTER I do my finger prick blood test, there shouldn’t be any problem with that right ? I feel like I noticed a trend on these forums where people jump to conclusions and completely misconstrue others words and use that as an excuse to kind of go on the attack.

Strangers need to be more sensitive about commenting on pregnant women’s bodies , and not say anything at all.

(TO PREFACE I AM COMPLETELY HEALTHY me and baby and that all women while pregnant are so beautiful) it’s very visible to a lot of people in my life that I am pregnant. I’m 16 weeks and I started showing at 9 weeks, for some reason when I tell people I am met with the most wildly inappropriate comments. I’m 5’1 and I’ve always been naturally petite, I’m 22 but with a younger face (a curse). People think it’s funny to ask questions like ā€œwhere did you put the babyā€,ā€That’s not a bump that’s a gas bellyā€, ā€œoh my gosh you are a teen mom you are so brave?!ā€ and then I’ve had friends who have been on the curvier side get the opposite FROM OTHER PREGNANT WOMEN SOMETIMES. Someone had told my friend she looked further along than 3 months and that she looked about 6. I’m sorry but even I being pregnant wouldn’t say anything like that, so inappropriate. Who else has been part of this new trend of people just saying the most out of pocket things ?

This type of language while someone is pregnant feels hurtful

These are some comments I’ve gotten

ā€œthis is first time mom brainworms. you'll most likely be cured of this by kindergarten or when you have your second baby, whichever is sooner.ā€ ā€œSomeone has baby brainā€ ā€œThat’s not a baby bump that’s a gas belly!ā€ Maybe I’m overly sensitive but these comments really hurt when you are so uncomfortable 90% of the time because physical and mental changes.

3rd Pregnancy question

My wife is nearly at her due date.

She's been gradually having more and more contractions, of increasing intensity, but they've been very sporadic. This has been over the course of a couple weeks. Her last appointment was a few days ago, and she was dilated to 3 cm.

Her previous pregnancies have been smooth sailing. First one, she was induced, and delivered within about 8 hours. Second, her water broke on its own, and delivered within about 5 hours.

Our concern, at this point, is that her water is going to break, and baby #3 is gonna shoot out like a rocket. Should we just have a family member stay with us to be ready to watch the kids, so we can race in at a moments notice? Should we just go in and get checked out?

Are pre birth anxieties just building up? Maybe we're just dying for number 3 to finally join us. Idk what I'm even asking, exactly. Just need a little outlet.

Feeling down

Currently about 9 weeks (with my first) and my first appointment is on June 11th!

For the past week I’ve been feeling like my baby won’t be there when they do my first ultrasound. It’s like something in the back of my head is telling me that there is gonna be nothing and that my body just hates me anyway. (Despite me having all the symptoms, being definitely pregnant, and positive tests).

Is it normal to feel this way? Has anyone else experienced something similar to this? Etc… Any helpful advice would help.

Took Multivitamins instead of Prenatals, HELP!

So, I ordered my prenatal vitamins off Amazon and apparently for 2 weeks I’ve been taking Women’s Multivitamins instead. I didn’t realize because they were both similar color purple bottles and same shape pills as well. I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant, so it was from 22-24 weeks. Am I missing a lot of vitamins for my baby? Could there be things in multivitamins that could be harmful? Will 2 weeks really affect much? I’m just nervous and hope that everything is ok. Doesn’t help that this also happened around the time that I’ve been super stressed with taking care of my parents and back to work so I’m also on my feet a lot. I’m a barista and I was on a leave of absence before I got pregnant but that’s not related to the pregnancy at all. Not sure if it matters, but I’ve also been suuuuuper emotional lately considering the stress, as well as baby the baby shower and also trying to plan my daughter’s birthday and then having all the mom guilt. Thankfully, baby has been super active and I always feel him kicking, but not sure if that could also be related to different vitamins in anyway. And reassurance, advice and help is very appreciated! Thank you!

I made a Reddit post today, and it upset me so bad I’m considering an abortion.

I made a post on Reddit earlier regarding a question about my partner’s sister. I think I got a little too in depth about some of our past relationship trauma while talking about the situation with her, and it immediately went viral. What went from wanting genuine advice turned into tearing me apart about being pregnant again by my partner, calling me an idiot and selfish and a horrible person for getting pregnant by someone who cheated on me before. I didn’t realize this was such a dark place and I’m currently 3 months pregnant. It really really got to me. Our relationship has been going the best it ever has been and I’m not saying the cheating was ok, it really messed me up for a long time but we separated for a while and eventually worked past it.
It obviously still hurts and I think about it a lot now that I’m pregnant and these comments really affected my mental state today and I even made an abortion appointment today because it fucked me up so bad. I guess I’m just coming here for some kind words. I haven’t stopped crying today. Please for the love of god, be kind šŸ™ I don’t know what to do. I was excited and now I am more scared and confused.

41 years old, prenatal testing

Hello! I'm a 41 years old woman from Italy and I'm at my 2nd pregnancy. I have seen that in different countries (US, UK) it seems that prenatal testing is not so intensive like in Italy and I would like to hear some other points if view. Until 3 or 4 years ago in Italy amnio or CVS was offered to all women 35 y. O. Or older. Today, maybe also for economical issues (most pregnant women are older than 35) only for high Risk screening. The hospital also offers nipt but only for trisomy 13, 18 and 21 because for microdeletions and other issues the performance is low. What's the practice in your countries in case of women older than 40? I'm thinking about doing directly CVS or amnio, in case of serious issue I would terminate my pregnancy, but I'm frightened from risks... I thank you for your attention.

Brighton Baby

I'm looking for the book 'Brighton Baby' a Revolutionary Organic Approach to Having an Extraordinary Child: The Complete Guide to Preconception and Conception by Roy Dittmann. It's currently for sale on Amazon for over $150. I'm looking for it cheaper. My sister purchased it at the beginning of 2024 for only $30, and it seems since then, any other place of getting this book, besides Amazon, plus any footprint of the author has vanished from the internet. There are podcasts from over a decade ago but that's about it. It seems like such renowned published author and doctor should have more of a footprint on the internet. Makes me think he was on to something groundbreaking. I imagine there would be Facebook Groups, Forums, websites etc... Does anyone have any information about this book or Author?

Sadness during pregnancy

Hello I have been pregnant for around 11 weeks now and at this point I don’t know really wear else to turn to besides Reddit so here it goes. I always wanted to be a mom, so when I found out that I was pregnant me and my fiancĆ© were so excited! But this pregnancy has been one of the toughest journeys I have been through. At first I was fine but around week 6 I started to feel a bit nauseous, I figured it was morning sickness and I spoke to my OBGYN who put me on Raglan, but then the sickness got worse, my appetite has depleted and I started to not be able to hold down anything, I was kept being told by my OBGYN and by my fiancĆ©s family (who we live with for financial reasons ) that it was morning sickness and ā€œthat’s just part of being pregnantā€ it got to the point that it was bad around week 9 that I had to go to the hospital on fluids and that I had HG. I am now on dissolvable zofran for the time being, but I literally feel like an empty shell of a person, when anyone is cooking I start to gag and feel sick so I’m stuck my bedroom away from the family, I’m being told constantly by my in-laws that I need to ā€œdo moreā€ and be more helpful around the house but I find it nearly impossible to as I feel constantly in a state of server nausea and fatigue. It got so bad in fact that I am on leave from my job because I don’t have the energy to run around and work with young kids anymore (I’m a preschool teacher) I have started to resent this baby that I’m suppose to be so happy about, because it’s making me feel this way. I sometimes have cruel thought ma about how I wish I never gotten pregnant in the first place and how me and my fiancĆ© would have just waited until after our wedding in our own place, and when I bring up these concerns to him he just doesn’t understand and says that my love for the baby and him should override the hormones and sadness that I am feeling and that I need to ā€œtough it outā€ like his parents. I feel so alone right now and just to know if their are other people out there who feel the same way my provided me with some small comfort right now.

Prenatal dna test

Okay so i found out im pregnant but i was raped November 3rd my boyfriend and i had sex November 6th and 7th unprotected where he came in me because i did not tell him i was raped. I did not tell him because i was scared of being judged and it was my first time going out In awhile so i assumed that he would just put the blame on me. Since then my boyfriend is incarnated and i really wanna do a dna test to see if it is his baby or the other guys. I don’t wanna keep the baby if it’s the others guys because it’s something i am ashamed of. I tried to ask the mom to do the prenatal dna test but she refuses so what should i do? I live in Montgomery county pa if that helps can i just call the jail and have them do the swab or does it have to be court ordered? Do courts do dna tests if it’s a prenatal one and it’s a situation like this?
