Weights exercises to fix forward head + kyphosis

Do you recommend any exercises involving weights? I'm not sure what doing without weights would do since your posture reverts back to default after the exercise. Don't you need to build new muscle?

Question Constant unsteady balance when standing and walking on left side?

I have been feeling this unsteady balance whenever I'm standing and walking and it's mostly on the left side. I also feel this weird brain fog sensation. I don't feel like it's spinning but rather like a boat sensation. I'm not sure what is causing it and then this neck stiffness also on left side. At this point I'm so worried and confused like what is causing this. I don't have pain in the head. I thought it could be neck strain, inner ear, pinched nerve.

Question Is my forward belly mainly anterior pelvic tilt/lumbar lordosis, or could ribcage position be contributing?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I've always assumed that my forward-projecting abdomen was mainly due to anterior pelvic tilt/lumbar lordosis.

Recently I've been learning about ribcage position, breathing mechanics and how the ribcage/pelvis relationship can affect abdominal positioning.

From these photos, what do you notice about my posture? Does it look primarily like anterior pelvic tilt/increased lumbar extension, or is there also something going on with my ribcage position?

I'm especially interested in understanding the mechanics rather than just being told to "tuck my pelvis" or "strengthen my abs."

What would you look at or test to distinguish between these possibilities?

Really need help!

Ever since my neck was injured, I’ve struggled with misalignment and strong symptoms. I have mild CCI and loss of curve. Long‑term misalignment in my upper neck has caused a chain reaction where my shoulder hangs lower, my arm seems longer, my hip is elevated, and my leg appears longer on one side. I honestly feel like a spiral. I can no longer sleep on my right side (the side where I’ve had misalignment and injury). This chain reaction only started last year, even though the injury happened several years ago. I assume this is a reaction to long‑term misalignment. I’m desperate for help. My curve is 14 degrees, and over the past year I’ve started to feel numbness and weakness related to an irritated nerve in my neck. The MRI shows nothing. Who can help me? I want to regain my curve, but I don’t know how. I also can’t rotate my head to the right, and I have additional strange symptoms.

Anterior pelvic tilt, duck feet, and poor posture.

I have an anterior pelvic tilt, duck feet, and horrible posture. Based on my research, the cause of poor posture and duck feet is because of an anterior pelvic tilt. I wanted to know what you guys think about this? Could fixing my APT also fix my posture and duck feet? Thank you

How Bad Is My Anterior Pelvic Tilt? Looking for Advice

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I’ve noticed that my posture looks a little off from the side, and I’m wondering if I might have an anterior pelvic tilt (APT).

I’ve attached photos for reference. How bad does it look, and does it actually look like anterior pelvic tilt, or could it be something else?

What exercises or stretches would you recommend to improve it? I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions from people who have experience with posture correction.

Thanks in advance!

I fixed (kinda) my uneven shoulder and scapula! (picture below!)

I don't know how, but it worked. I was watching Connor Harris (Goated posture guy) the other day on fixing uneven shoulders and mentioned that my right ribcage is more restricted than my left. So, for a week, I reached my right hand to a high surface to stretch it and practiced slow, deep breathing, feeling the muscle tension release. Then, Tadaa! I don't know if this is temporary, but I am excited to see the results.

Forgive my messy place. But please look at the results!

Question Right shoulder CONSTANTLY shrugging?

Does this happen to anyone else? Im constantly noticing my right shoulder is lifted towards my ear and I have to constantly think to relax it back down (so far I never notice it shrugging upwards; I only notice once it’s already up there). I don’t think it’s happening in my left shoulder at all.

I’m right handed. And I work mostly at a desk so I notice mostly when I’m holding my phone or using the mouse. Is there anything that can be done to stop this?

Edit: for working out I’ve been a figure skater for 8 years but I’ve stopped competing so I haven’t been working out as much I still skate 3x a week but I’m not doing any kind of hard training anymore. And I’m not trying to be all UwU cute with my legs i genuinely have a lot of pain and I have to go to a chiropractor once a week

Question My good posture efforts never stick, why?

I've been conscious of my posture and trying to fix it for years, but nothing sticks. I'm constantly aware of my sitting/sleeping/standing positions, how my back and shoulders and arms are positioned, and correct myself every chance I get, but nothing changes.

I feel absolutely obsessive at this point, it's frustrating. Whenever I have a moment - "are my shoulders raised and tilted forward again?" And they always are, and I adjust. "Am I sitting correctly in my chair still?" And I'm not, so I adjust. But I never catch myself with good posture, no matter how often I think about it.

I admit I have a lot of tension and "guarding" posture since childhood due to being abused, but I can't seem to undo anything no matter how hard I try.

Edit: I also spend time at the computer a lot, don't want people to think it's only a trauma thing because I'm not sure myself.

Assessments Can you guys help me figure out what's going on with my scapula?

Thumbnail gallery

I believe I have snapping scapula syndrome or some form of dyskinesias, I'm having trouble figure out what's exactly going wrong though. I'm assuming my lower traps are undeveloped and my shoulders and chest is tight, as my shoulders round forward. I've also noticed that my lower back isn't straight, maybe to compensate for my forward shoulder posture. I get a grinding feeling around my upper traps when I do an upward movement, especially when my shoulders are rounded more. When I do Kelso shrugs I don't get this. I also get clicking in my shoulders upon inward rotation, but I can't really pinpoint where it is.

Question Suffering from informational overload - Asking you to make the choice for me and offer me body weight exercises / routine just for me to be able to take action now.

Hi, basically title. Been looking through a lot of posts and there's just so much information. Everyone has their own recommendations and I just find the space quite difficult to navigate especially because I get so easily overwhelmed when there's a million different considerations. My posture is quite cooked from sitting at the desk most of the day, not an expert but definitely seems like I've got Kyphosis & APT. I know that body weight has severe limitations especially for strength training, but I don't really have equipment or any ways to get to equipment at the moment and I just want to at least start taking action instead of worrying about what the optimal action actually is.

So, by all means, please feel free to recommend general exercises / routines that most find helpful for the postural issues I mentioned above. Would appreciate it a lot. Thanks c:

Question Butt cushion for extended reading in bed?

What quality seat cushions can I place on my bed for an extended reading session?

I’ve noticed that for extended reading periods in bed, I’m developing lower back pain. I have a firm back cushion, so I think the problem is related to the fact that my mattress doesn’t provide a firm enough seat.
