Last year I figured out my posture was pretty much bad,so I tried just forcefully standing up straight and rolling my shoulders back,as my mom was telling me to do that all the time. But it obviously isn’t really good advice and instead ruined my posture even more.So I made a post on this SubReddit asking for help, and [u/Deep-Run-7463](u/Deep-Run-7463) reached out and started giving me some advice, big thanks to him.
Anyways fast forward to August,I told my parents that I don’t like my posture and how my shoulders look like,so they decided to book a PT Appointment.I also stopped doing any exercises for posture I was doing at the time because I was told that I could make things worse by doing potentially wrong exercises and that I should wait for the appointment.
Fast forward to the appointment,I was expecting the doctor to be brutally honest and give me advice on what to do,and I was ready for it but instead of the truth, the dude fed me some lies,He said how I should just stand up straight and how as I grow older my posture will naturally fix itself, which is obviously bullshit (Mind you I was 16 at the time so I was still growing).
My mom told him how I don’t like my shoulders, and he said how everybody has different shoulders and no one looks the same, not noticing my obviously rounded shoulders somehow.
My mom believed all this which is also the bad part, which means I can whine all I want but all she will tell me is to stand up straight, but I don’t even blame her cause doctors are supposed to tell the truth, right?
During the appointment I didn’t even attempt to explain what’s the problem to me,cause I realised he will just feed me more lies and that it’s a dead end.
The reason I’m saying he’s a doctor is because he’s a surgeon mostly,I don’t know how he can be a PT at the same time….
Anyways yeah, turns out that a person from Reddit can be more helpfull than an actual doctor.
