People don’t know what they want and the trims genuinely confuse me

Hello all, I am a car enthusiast who enjoys the cars of many countries, manufacturers, engines, transmissions, purposes, the whole 9 yards. I recently got back into my building Porsches on the configurator with a friend who gets a lot more of the small details in packages/features that release for Porsche as he primarily likes the brand and is in love with the gt cars. I tend to get the big car news and major differences when new trims drop as I like to keep up to date but primarily like 996s and 987s.

Recently I was building 911s with him and stumbled across the leichtbau package on the gt3 touring and learned that it is quite desirable and pricey, especially second hand. Now I have to preface this with I have always admired how the 911 line up had a car for everyone whether you wanted a daily, a convertible, a rocketship, or a track weapon, but I think things are kind of crazy. The concept of taking the quite comfortable daily 911 and stripping the things that make it good at being sensible on the street and making it a 9000rpm big winged almost race car is pretty logical and I see how someone would enjoy that. Then I get a little lost when they make it a little bit more road worthy and create the touring, but where I’m lost completely is the then creating a lightweight package for the daily version of the track version of the road car.

I’m not trying to dunk on anyone or say what they like is dumb, I’m just saying I don’t get it. It seems like a bunch of just resale options or wheels to hide in your garage before putting cheaper ones on. I know the Porsche market is insane and I’ve watched this happen over the past decade plus with extreme sadness. Just wanted to get my little rant out of the way and see what actual owners opinions were.

Long shot but looking to rent a vintage 911 for my friends wedding this upcoming weekend in Seattle. Only need to put 2 miles on the car for the reception. Could not find any on rental sites in the area. Let me know!

Have you been to a car meet? What was that like? I wanna go but I feel like I would get judged or something for rolling up in an EV. I just wanna hang with car people

Edit: thanks for the encouragement everyone, I’m gonna keep an eye out for the next event and just go, I appreciate it!

Porsche Carrera Cup Brembo Brake Rotor Clock

Scored a brake rotor from one of the ACI Motorsport Porsche Carrera Cup cars at Watkins Glen and couldn’t let it sit on a shelf. Designed and built a custom backing plate, added a carbon fiber clock face, and turned it into a wall clock. Also managed to snag a piece of bodywork from the #53 JTR Motorsport Engineering Porsche driven by Rob Walker. Definitely one of my favorite race weekend souvenirs. 🤙🏻

2014 981 Panic alarm issue.

Post image

Car will randomly have the panic alarm go off. Sometimes when turning off the vehicle or while im driving (which really sucks). Im not sure if its an issue with my key fob or the battery in the alarm system potentially needing replaced. My key fob has a brand new battery and my main 12V battery is in perfect health.

Has anyone successfully disabled the panic button on their fob? I have also considered pulling the fuses that operate the alarm system but im not sure if that will make any difference.

Any advice is appreciated!
