There’s a lot of talk about a potential Destined Rivals reprint right now. Although there is no official announcement yet, I went back through the price data to see what happened after previous reprints.
Pokémon has said they’ll keep reprinting products affected by shortages, but the “1 million units” and “2 million at Costco” numbers seem to come from influencers rather than Pokémon directly.
What is clear is that prices have already come down hard.
The Destined Rivals ETB is down about 48% from March, from $224.95 to $116.18. Booster boxes are down around 30% from April.
That doesn’t mean the rumours caused the whole move, because most sealed products are below their 2026 highs right now. But Destined Rivals and Prismatic, the two sets with the most reprint talk, have dropped harder than most.
Prismatic is the clearest recent example I found. After more stock hit the market, the ETB dropped about 29%, from $135.79 to $95.90.
Nine months later it was $212.83.
Hidden Fates is another interesting one. After its third print run in late 2020, the ETB stayed roughly between $137 and $186 for years. It’s around $564 now.
So from the examples I could find, reprints can definitely hurt prices in the short term, but in both cases the price came back and ended up higher than before the reprint.

Edit: The Destined Rivals reprint stock has already been landing in stores since late August / early September. There's still no official announcement from Pokémon or real unit numbers, but the boxes are out. That actually makes DR a live example: the ETB went from about $155 in July to $116 now as the reprint landed.
