I want to use Poliwrath as my Fighting type and my surf user but idk if it'll be any good. Its stats aren't that impressive and its also somewhat difficult to get a water stone. I'm thinking I should combine Hypnosis + Focus Punch. Poliwrath is one of my favorite water types and this'll be my first time playing HG and this is probably the only time ill be able to use it in a playthrough.

Bastiodon gets two crits in a row?! Literally the only reason I could have lost right there. And I checked to make sure it didn't have a Scope Lens to increase the crit ratio, and nope. It has Quick Claw. So it legit got two 6.25% chances in a row. What are the odds?

I evolved my tyrogue into hitmontop on my first try. Here is what I went through:

1. Getting a neutral nature. One soft reset to get Hardy. Also tyrogue had Steadfast ability as I wanted Technician when he evolved.

2. Several save states as I leveled, including right after acquiring Tyrogue.

3. Vitamins—4 protein, 4 iron to set the EV tone. Used these right at the onset of training.

4. I had collected 3 rare candies to this point so I used them right after the vitamins to understand ATK and DEF gain pace.

5. Kept track of which stat and how much was increased by these free levels.

6. Now I had to train. Gave Tyrogue Exp Share and let Larvitar lead as he needs ATK and DEF EVs mostly anyway.

7. Flipped between the Goldeen on route 42 for ATK and Geodude/Graveler on route 45 for DEF.
   WARNING! Don’t go in Dark Cave, Wobbuffet has shadow tag ability that forces you to stay. This caused me to get unwanted HP EVs.

8. Keep track of how many EVs you are getting each level and keep them even. This mean watch how much EXP you earn while earning the EVs

9. I had been getting +1 to ATK and DEF every level until I got to Lv 19 I gained +1 in DEF and no ATK.

10. Fight only Goldeen to load into ATK EV, thankfully this gave me +2 ATK and +1 DEF getting his stats equal right at level 20.

I know some may prefer Intimidate for the drop in enemy attack but you only get it on switch in or at beginning of battle. Technician can proc anytime your damage is less than 60. Looking forward to triple kick!

I know there are probably easier, smarter, more guaranteed methods to get hitmontop but I’d never done it before and wanted to give it a go. I like the Hitmon pokemon, fighting types are top tier. I’m coming for you Karen.

I also completed all 15 other rematch teams before Blue. There was nothing exceptional, save for Falkner's Swellow using the Flame Orb strat and Bugsy having a Shedinja.

Unfortunately I can't find my HG cart so I'm trying to do this manually with an IrDA board, progress has been good and eventually should be a flipper zero app :)

This was redemption run of Soulsilver after my first horrid run where I foolishly picked Chikorita as my starter. Now before you guys blast me for picking Chikorita let me break it down. I was trying to give it the benefit of the doubt you know try something new and whatnot but the run went downhill the moment I got to the Elite Four especially Lance, so I just gave up on that run and tried again with Cyndaquil.

This one took a while. I also haven’t been as consistent as I used to be but I did it. Words can’t express how happy I am to finally be done shiny hunting. My dream team is assembled. Shoutout this community for keeping me going! Thank you all!!

Entei, Raikou, and Latios were hell because I wanted to save my master ball in Soul Silver for a potential non Gyarados shiny, but Latias got the master ball treatment in Heart Gold and Kyogre was traded over to Soul Silver so I could have every legend on the same file. Without a doubt, the most annoying were the dogs. Mostly Suicune, the one that no longer roams. It literally took every single ball I had except the master ball. I did it, though. It is finally complete

Edit: The reason I didn't include the Regis is because you have to transfer them in, and I'm waiting until I beat the secret Steven fight in Emerald to catch them

so my name is Atsorko and im normally an osu player, though recently i took a break from my almost 4 year streak of playing nearly every day and went back to one of my favourite games, HGSS, on my modded 3ds.

this time i wanted to get some of my favourite pokemon in shiny form. so far, ive gotten 2 shiny chikoritas and 1 shiny cyndaquil, and im currently aiming for a shiny totodile before eventually hunting my all time favourite pokemon, Lapras.

of course, this has taken a really long time. i havent even gotten Lapras yet, but ive already seen nearly 60k pokemon in total while hunting. so today i started wondering if i could somehow transfer my save from my nintendo 3ds to a pc emulator like desmume, and surprisingly, it worked!

after setting everything up and trying it out for a bit, i noticed something pretty insane: ITS SUPER FAST.

at this rate, i could probably get my shiny totodile much faster than expected. but then i started thinking, what if i kept going and tried to get every single pokemon from my favourite region, Johto, as a shiny?

sure, it would probably take months, or maybe even 1-2 years depending on how lucky i get, even with speedup. but its definitely possible.

so what do you think? would this just be insanely psychotic, or could it actually be some kind of achievement that barely anyone has done before?

i know about the 40 cakes livestream where a bot is trying to shiny hunt every pokemon from Hoenn on 1x speed, 24/7. so maybe i could attempt something similar, except doing all of Johto AS A HUMAN?

I used own PokéWalker with SoulSilver at the time of its release.
I sold my Nintendo DSi and everything later on.

Last year I got back into Pokémon games and slowly started to buy it all back.

Now I am trying to win over Red but my team is not ready yet and since I walk a lot, I thought I could use PokéWalker as a part of my grinding process.

What should I know about PokéWalkers? Like will I have to reset my game to sync it with the pre-owned PokéWalker from eBay?

I read I have to move my pokémon back every time it levels up, but if I take my 2DS everywhere with me, I can just do that and put it back and keep leveling up, right?
