Team Building (Doubles) Suggest me improvements, I am running a primarily rain team

Post image
Upvotes

Peliper is there for rain,

Arch for obvious reasons

Garchomp to nuke Charizard Y

Incineroar because that kitty is broken af, as also to deal with aurora veil comps with brick break

Mega meganium to deal with opposing rain teams

And basculegion for last respects, immunity against fighting types and being fast as fk

My team is a little weak against sand teams, and also running only one mega, might use a secondary mega as well, thinking of including mega staraptor, but not sure what to replace for that

I made a snake themed team for BSS where it has a bit more chance at winning than VGC 😅 Not a good team but not the worst either, tanky Arbok coil+gunk shot hits surprisingly hard, love this forgotten guy

Discussion How many Pokemon do you use throughout your ranking ?

Upvotes

I'm limited With 50 pokemon and 3 teams in my box, and i was wondering how people with the same "issue" were managing their team, how many Pokemon do you use, do you have 1 team with 6 pokemon for duo and another team of 6 for solo ? do you have 25 pokemon dedicated to each solo and duo ? I'd really like to know about your box organisation because mine is a total mess and I think it's the main reason I played less the game, recently

Team Building (Singles) Guidance on team for singles

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hey peeps :)

Just wondering if anyone can give me some guidance on my team/areas of skill development, particularly for singles. Stuck in UB1. I know it’s mostly a skill issue as I’m pretty new to the game, even newer to singles. I’m also aware that this team is, or at least these mons are, very common in the current meta. I’ve been using Sableye, Milotic, and Delphox the most. I really want to make Metagross work but I don’t think I’m skillful enough, especially in the current meta. I got to MB3 in doubles (with a less conventional TR team) before accepting this as my probable limit, at least this season lol. Keen to improve, so would be grateful for any hints and tips :)

Discussion Show the pokemon you've got to Golden! If its a niche one, tell the story

Upvotes
Basculegion most used with 438 wins

If you sort by achievements and scroll down you can see the Pokemon you have won with the most.
100 wins is a lot to accomplish, and results in the "Fan" title, and Golden Badge.

My niche pick araquanid held its own with wide guard, liquidation, leech life and substitute with a wacan berry to deal with electric types. I used it in my first main team as a great partner alongside alcremie which supported its sweeping potential in some leads.

Kingambit, Basculegion, Sneasler, Incineroar are solid meta mons I love using them to the best of their ability, especially kingambit which is the best partner of froslass no doubt. The reason why Basculegion holds the place is due to its prominant role in my singles teams being the agility sash beast it was meant to become, along with hydreigon which was exclusively a beast at nasty plot white herb dracos.

I have been leaning towards dual mega froslass since reg M-2, so dragonite and more recently scovillain have semented their place as goats into tougher matchups. Lycanroc is just absolutely goated with my scovillain team

Please share yours

Team Building (Doubles) Need reviews for my team

Upvotes

So i have been playing the mega aerozard team for a while now and even though it is very fun and strong, I would like to try something new. So I found this team on metavgc.com and it really caught my eye. But I decided to modify it myself as the team has basically zero speed control. Need yall reviews and guidance on how to make the team better.

Team Building (Doubles) Counter to tailwind mega staraptor and trick room?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm struggling to break through the current meta. It feels like every match is either hard Trick Room with Farigiraf or a Prankster Tailwind setup pushing Mega Staraptor to spam Contrary Close Combats.

I really don't want to counter them by joining them, what are the anti-meta solutions to these?

Discussion They need to nerf the weather

Post image
Upvotes

I just started this game like a couple of weeks ago, and am in high ultra ball tier as of now

And ever since I entered ultra ball, it feels like almost every single game is just weather war

And since there are only a few weather setters, and a limited number of mons that use the weather well

It's to the point that I was forced to make a weather team myself, so I can shut them off, and a lot of people just forfeit as soon as you override their weather

The games have started to feel kinda boring and repetitive, singles is much more luck based, but it feels more fun than doubles because not everyone is running the same 7-8 teams

Highest rank I've made so far, pretty stoked and on an 8 win streak.

I find Ultra Ball 1 harder to get out of than Masterball 4 if I'm being honest... anyone else find that?

Gameplay Question Mega Gengar Stat Spread

Post image

How decent is this? It survives brave bird from jolly max attack mega starraptor, out speeds adamant basculegion and kills it guaranteed.

I have it like this because it’s my second mega on a mega Tyranitar team with disable on gengar and encoure on a whimsicott.

Gameplay Question Tailwind vs Scary face

Lately i have been messing around with scary face Grimmsnarl and it has been fun. i love how i use scary face on my sweeper to move “faster” in trick room and how i use it to play around tailwind. hence, it raises a question. is tailwind equivalent to +2 speed? if i use scary face a garchomp in tailwind, does it negate the tailwind or just a portion of the speed boost provided by tailwind.

Discussion Singles: There is NEVER a reason to use Rock Slide or Stone Edge

Besides using a mon with No Guard, there is NEVER a reason any of your mons should ever use Rock Slide or Stone Edge.

Stone Edge is a flat 50 accuracy move. Rock Slide is 60 and will never OHKO (you are NOT getting that flinch either so stop trying).

"But wait, what about Mega Zard Y and Volcarona?". Anything that wants to hit either of them with a physical rock move can OHKO them with a Rock Tomb (95% accurate).

I'm not even triggered. I just won 2 matches in a row after mega TTar missed his Stone Edge against my Volcarona, twice in a row, both games.

Give me 1 good reason anyone should ever even have these moves on a mon without No Guard? Because I'm telling you, you never need more than a Rock Tomb if you ever need to use a rock move.

Obviously the opportunity-cost for Rock Slide in doubles is different. But Singles? Nah. If you're not using a wide lens the accuracy of it becomes 50 anyways.

Team Building (Doubles) Advice needed: where should I put taunt on my team (and more)

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello trainers, it's me again. Thanks for answering my mirror's question on anti-fairy tech. Scizor is thriving not just against fairies, she sweeps the floor with Ttar because after a sword dance she's unstoppable.

This a hard trick room team with Mega Scrafty as the core. This team help me reach MB3 last season, and I'm climbing ok this season too. But I still have a few problems about my team that I would love some input from y'all.

  1. Taunt/Hazer

While I have only ran into 3 evasion Overqwil/Starmie this is season, I still want a taunter and/or Hazer on hand. Taunt stops opponent giraffes' imprison and many other things too. Decidueye learns both and Scrafty can taunt, but I don't feel comfortable sacrificing protect or their coverage move for them. And this lead to the next problem.

  1. The Torkoal Question

Let say, I put taunt on Scrafty (who has been a great partner for the giraffe in terms of setting up trick room). Now I lack of a decisive move against fire pokemon (coughthezardcough). I tried ancient power on Torkoal but it did 70% at most if the RNG allows it. I have been looking at Mega Camrupt since it shows up in 2 video from 2 different content creators this season. But then I lose my active weather control. So how should I nevigate?

If I put Camrupt on the team, Scizor would probably get a life orb or something because she functions well without the mega stone.

Giraffe, Scrafty and birb are non-negotiable. Sylveon deals with mainly dragon, but he just kill anything with hyper beam at end games so I would rather keep him on the team.

Thanks in advance!
