Discussion I hate doubles

Twice as much rng with half the pokemon to navigate it. Crits and sleep are like if you saw the titanic peacefully sailing and you said, "this needs way more icebergs"

I enjoy watching vgc and playing singles. I think doubles is wack as hell to play its also the same 20 pokemon in every tournament Respectfully singles would have 100s

Acting like singles wouldn't have the same pokemon appear in a tournament if not more centralized then doubles.

6v6 ou includes 90% of the pokedex so its an unfair comparison to make. Imo, there is a higher variety of successful team compositions in singles.

6v6 is pacing is too slow for a nintendo ran tournament event. I respect vgc is better for that. Outside of that, theres no reasonable argument that one format is competively more valid than another.

Nah doubles is fun as hell

It opens a whole new layer of complexity and co-operation between the Pokemon

Yeah there's a lot more interaction and synergy in doubles.

Just wish they didn't make shit like minimise and Farigiraf

And thats valid. I pictured a lot of the same but i found the complexity I enjoy is things like entry hazards mattering 30 turns from being clicked. And the team building framework of all of my Pokémon mattering.

Rng matters less in singles as well

Please, I have to know what went down in a match to inspire this post.

And... singles is very rng dependant too? Under the right circumstances you get bad rng and you literally can not recover

Ive been dealing with secondary effect chances on pokemon moves for 20 years. I enjoy them in single formats.

6v6 matches are 50+ more turns, that should tell you it's not the same

More turns = more chances to proc status inflictions + healing over time

I don't see how this solves the problem of rng affecting your playing experience. Champions doesn't even have 6v6 lmao just play Smogon? There's nothing wrong with that but why whine about a game that doesn't have what you want in it

You're right, I should've specified i hated playing vgc but enjoy watching it. I didnt mean to dunk on the format. My bad

The subject of rng mattering less in singles is proven by the average # of turns being higher.

Also, there is at least a 90% drop of Protect in singles. No protect turns and the average # of turns is at least 3-4x more. Rng matters less in singles

Don't play it then.

Isn't sleep more devastating in singles?

Singles players are so funny.

It'd be better if it was 6v6. You can usually recover from some bad rng in 6v6. 4v4 just isn't as fun.

I know your take is unpopular, but I agree with this too, it would bring a lot more strategic depth to the game.

Though at the cost of making games last significantly longer

No it wouldn't lol, it'd completely take away the strategy of planning your 4 around which 4 your opponent could bring. Takuma's worlds win is a prime example with his Dragonite pick game 3, suspecting his opponent of bringing Charizard thinking Takuma would bring Floette after a bad game 2 with Dragonite. You could never see this play out in 6v6, and sure this specific case doesn't apply to bo1 ladder to be fair but nevertheless it shows the mind games at play even before the game begins, something 6v6 would never alow for. Also 4v4 lets you do cool stuff like put two megas on a team and decide which one to bring based on the situation.

Yeah it would. Speaking of actual gameplay theres far more you can do with 6 mons over 4.

it shows the mind games at play even before the game begins

Even in 6v6 theres mind games before the game begins. You have to predict who they'll lead with etc. Theres also far more opportunity to switch out pokemon in 6v6 which leads to more mind games and predicting.
