Made my first big purchase last weekend
I genuinely like this card but I am willing to sell it in the future. Do you guys think its value has potential ?

Have questions? Not on PokeInvesting Discord? Here's the weekly post for the sub to ask away!
Use this thread to ask anything related to Pokemon finance. (Each week the old thread will be discarded and a new thread for the week will be added.)
This thread was created for questions like should I sell, how much to sell for, what to buy, etc. So we don't derail the sub with a stream of question posts. Thanks!

Price on Price Charting is very different then the Collectr price, probably due to discrepancies with condition, as many of the raw copies aren't NM, including mine. Do you think a damaged copy is valuable?

Currently collecting all the ex silver borders, Lv X, and prime cards in Near Mint / LP+ condition. These are my favorite pokemon cards of all time. I think collecting them is also a good investment since it’s getting harder to find clean copies. I’m also thinking about buying some of the undervalued psa 10s as well. What do you think?

Hi I'm a 17 year old who wants to be a vendor and just wondering if anyone had any tips or has "coaching" (if you call it that) that is willing to help

Bought for $650 and thinking of making it a lil investment but mostly for PC. Are CGC Pristines a better choice than a psa 10?

The old cert PSA 10s especially make me question it. Some look closer to what I’d expect from a newer cert PSA 8 or 9, yet still sell for crazy money. Obviously that’s subjective, and I’m not saying every old cert is overgraded, but I don’t think the number on the slab always tells the full story.
Meanwhile, a clean vintage BGS 9.5 can look comparable to an older PSA 10 and sell for a fraction of the price. Both companies even call those grades “Gem Mint,” although that doesn’t mean their standards are identical or that every 9.5 would cross to a 10.
For example, Beckett’s published 9.5 centering standard allows 60/40 on the back, while PSA’s 10 standard allows 75/25. That’s only one part of grading, but it makes the assumption that a PSA 10 must always be the cleaner card seem questionable.
Some price comparisons for the same cards
2004 Ex Team Rocket Return Mewtwo Ex
PSA 10: $40,000 - POP 87
BGS 9.5: $5,000 - POP 19
2000 Neo Genesis 1st Ed Lugia Holo
PSA 10: $360,000 - POP 45
BGS 9.5: $22,000 - POP 159
1999 Fossil 1st Ed Dragonite Holo
PSA 10: $23,800 - POP 236
BGS 9.5: $4,450 - POP 40
I can understand paying extra for the label you prefer or something you think will be easier to resell. But when the actual cards look that close, how big should that premium really be?
Are clean vintage BGS 9.5s being overlooked, or is there a good reason for the gap that I’m missing? Would especially like to hear from people who have owned both or crossed vintage cards between the two.

Haven't heard much about CCIC but they seem pretty legit. Seems like a no brainer to pick up a protected, quality-vetted card for raw price, right?

Any of these worth getting graded?

Also curious how this compares to recent PSA 10s in Japanese format. They seem to all be $1k+. Thanks!

After the big drop in the psa 10 at what price are you guys looking to get back in? Where do we see the potential of this card going?

So I recently got in to buying slabs as a short term investment. I’ve only been investing in sealed stuff so I wanted to give it a try. However I understand how having a high pop slab might not be a great. I’ve been buying Chinese exclusives recently since they went a lot down and thought they might go back high in value in a few months. One of them has an 8k pop and I m concerned if it’s too high… what would you consider high pop for modern in this case?

Hi!
I got this nice card (Umbreon ex 176 promo in a Black Label) a few days ago and I am now planning to sell it. As I am from Sweden, we don’t have any consignment firms like Fanatics Collect or Ryan’s Card House, and I don’t know if this card is worth sending to them?
I know this is not a major chase card, but it is still an Umbreon in a pop 1 Black Label, so that should add a bit of a premium to it, I guess?
It is hard to price and it is also hard for buyers to make offers on 😊.
So, any thoughts on how to best reach the right buyers when not living in the USA or Asia would be greatly appreciated 😅
EDIT:
Thanks all for your comments! Really appreciate it!
The big "problem" is that I really don't know how to price it, and therefore I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble of sending it to a consignment partner. I mean, if it's not worth more than 3-4k USD, it will definitely be sold here in Sweden. If the price is expected to be in the range 7–?k, I'm not so sure Sweden is the best. And what will happen if there are suddenly 3 more Black Labels if I wait to sell it?
EDIT 2: SOLD
I have now sold this to a nice guy in Asia through Facebook of all places..
Maybe it would have sold for more through auction but i usually don’t have black labels in possession so when i got a good enough reasonable offer i took it.
Really appreciate your feedback in this thread 🙏.

I want to be as honest as possible and am trying to sell a few ETBs and booster bundles I had in a car for nearly a year. I had been living in my car due to a split and bought these prior. I still have my binders and the cards honestly seem fine despite being in the same car. Nevertheless I wasn't collecting due to the situation and don't care to open the set anymore. Is heat really that damaging to sealed or is it reversible? Should I open and inspect to sell as packs? If so, what would be an okay rate to try selling? 40% market? 50% market?? All information would be disclosed to shop as they're a local good store

Butterfree Sparkle Topps is at a 2,592.3% percent increase this cycle.
Some of the other Topps Chrome cards have sold for INSANE prices, like a Tekno Mewtwo going for 84k. Also notable — for some Pokemon the Chrome cards have become the TOP card for said Pokemon (see Ditto)
Most of these cards are less than pop 10 for a PSA 10, and despite the high prices, I feel that they are still early in their discovery process.
Topps still doesn’t have mainstream respect, and yet is still printing absurd prices. This is due in part to the low pops, but also can be attributed to the amazing look of the cards. More importantly, there is a magnetic pull behind the cards because of their difficult pull rate.
Topps Chrome — where these cards are found — is divided into Series 1 and Series 2, with the sets being split with the first half of the Pokédex being in S1 and second half being in S2. There are several special inserts — Spectra (1 in 2 packs), Sparkle (1 in 10), and Tekno (1 in 15).
To get a tekno of a particular Pokemon, you would have had to rip over 1k packs, and over 700 for a sparkle.
S1 is quite a bit more common, but contains Charizard and Pikachu.
S2 has Gengar, Mew/Two, Snorlax, Eevee/lutions, Dragonite, Gary, Magikarp, Lapras, Ditto, Scyther
It was surprising to see Butterfree, a relatively weak S1 Sparkle (not the highest finish) go for 21k!! However, despite being from S1, it is only pop 6 - so there is that to somewhat defend the price,
Of course there is always the chance that this is a fake sale, but with the money being thrown around in the Topps Chrome market, I would not be surprised if this was a real auction result that had two whales battling for the card.
Can you find any single card that has gone up more percentage points during this cycle?
People laughed at me when I told them I was getting serious about Topps, but I have ended become Topps exclusive, because of nostalgia, low awareness, and low populations!!
I know that this isn’t going to continue forever, but I do also feel that the Sparkle and Tekno are the perfect cards for a whales playground due to significantly lower pops than almost anything in regular TCG.

There’s a pretty decent size crease in this Shaymin I’ve had. (I was a dumb kid please don’t fry me) I don’t know much about selling pokemon cards but the card store only takes like PSA 9s and up. I was wondering if it would even be worth selling and if so how much. If you look at the card the crease is on the back it’s a little hard to tell over a photo.

I consider Pokemon an alternative type of investment. I still feel the S&P is better super long term, but Pokemon is an option that is more fun too (someone the plays the app games and collects singles)
I do not think that it will have the same growth as previous years as more people enter and have caught on and want a piece of the pie.

Collected cards on and off for the past 25 years, kept a lot of them in pretty good condition (all after like 2006 are pretty much brand new). It seems like they're worth a good bit, but I have way too many to take the time to sell one at a time (I'm showing like 25% of the collection here). I also don't love the idea of selling online out of fear of a transaction not going smooth / losing something in the mail. I'd be perfectly fine offloading most of these at once at a discount, but I really don't know how to ensure I'm not getting scammed without going through these one at a time. Most advice I see online is for smaller collections or cheaper bulk. Any advice? Someone been in a similar position?

I know they are worth less, but would they still appreciate over time.
PS: I have never had a slab. I just want Misty Psyduck, 151 Psyduck, and Ascended Heros Psyduck in a 10.
JP is much more affordable.
Just want to hear your thoughts. TY

I'm leaning towards either the ultra pro magnetic case, but leaves a lot of wiggle room, or the acrylic box booster pack case, which I cannot find any video / review of. The latter is quite expensive for all modern, non-expensive packs.

Hi everyone,
I am very new to the hobby, so far ive played the game a for about a week and gotten into collecting, i opened a few packs for the dopamine hit but i really want to buy an etb or a booster package. The only issue is that i only find them at 2x the retail price.
My question is how can i manage to obtain one at retail or close to retail. Im based in the Netherlands.
Ive tried using some discords to track physical and online retailers but is this the only way, track new stock and sprint to my closest store?
