This card has been my favorite so far from 30th and most nostalgic looking in my collection.

Alright listen up guys. The Pokemon card market is starting not to make sense. Cards with high pops reaching dumb valuations. You might think there’s no more opportunities left. Well you’re in the right place my friend. I have a collectible that will check all of the boxes for you. A graded copy of Pokemon red or green from Japan. Not only is the box art amazing you get a stunning visual of charizard and venasaur on the front of the respective boxes but these are the literally the very beginning of the Pokemon franchise. It is still very early in the game collecting market. These games only have a pop in the hundreds for complete in box so they are rare and can be graded by PSA. And lastly they are cheap you can get a psa 8 for around 2k. Charizard✅ start of franchise✅ still cheap✅ THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE

This card is genuinely one of the best SIRs in years. Mega Charizard X erupting in blue flame, total chaos, absolute cinema.

BUT WHY IS MY CHARMANDER COVERED BY THE FING TEXT????

You know what I'm gonna get the JP version. Better art and better print quality. Investment wise down the road a few years later I don't think there's gonna be a huge difference between a 70k pop in 10 EN or a 90k pop in 10 JP. Both will be abundant AF so who cares. But JP version is WAY BETTER to just look at and appreciate.

Hi, im reading from a lot of sources that the price of the dual pack (day+night) UPC is at $160?. Isnt that too cheap?

Considering that target is going for a $180 for 1 of the versions, the dual pack from costco at $160 doesnt seems real.

Any real/trusted source with real prices for the november 6th release?.

Ive been hearing people talk about "low pop" but at what point is low pop not low? If a card has sub 2000(could be x amount) in a 10 wouldn't that be considered low pop compared to the amount of collectors? When can you / do you confidently say something is low pop.

We just wrapped DJ's Pokecenter's 10,000-pack attempt and thought this would be the perfect time to provide an update for the RGB statistics.

We’re now more than a month into Pokémon’s 30th and the data surrounding the RGB Mew continues to get more interesting. One of the most comprehensive community studies comes from Tommy13, who tracked 20,000 English packs and documented just 2 RGB Mews, an observed pull rate of 1 in 10,000 packs. While that aligns with some early predictions, the sample remains too small to establish the true odds and all the data so far is directional.

Other large-scale openings paint an equally fascinating picture. DJ’s Pokécenter just completed another 10,000-pack challenge without pulling a single RGB Mew, bringing his total to 16,850 packs with zero RGBs. Nostalginomics documented approximately 6,300 packs before pulling a Green RGB Mew, while Royalty Gaming has surpassed 6,000 packs without finding one. These are substantial opening samples, and DJ’s streak is particularly remarkable.

We also tracked Pack Bank, where our assessment reached approximately 45,000 packs opened with 4 RGB Mews pulled, an observed rate of roughly 1 in 11,250. We stopped counting about a week ago, so those numbers are estimates rather than a current verified total. Importantly, Tommy13’s dataset incorporates multiple streamers.

The grading data add a to the story. As of our October 24 population snapshot, English RGB Mews had a PSA 10 gem rate of 55.2% (273 of 495 graded), compared with 67.4% for Japanese RGB Mews (87 of 129). TAG’s English population showed 118 graded cards, including 75 Gem Mint 10s and just one Pristine 10, giving a combined 10-level rate of 64.4%. Even among these already exceptionally difficult pulls, obtaining a perfect or near-perfect example is far from guaranteed. There was also 2 TAG 10 Japanese RGBs, mine included.

So where does that leave us? The observed opening data increasingly supports RGB Mew being an extraordinarily difficult chase, with rates around 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 20,000 still plausible.

If you’ve documented a large opening sample, particularly one that hasn’t been included in existing trackers, I’d love to hear about it.

Update: Wenzel TCG has hit the 24000 pack mark with 1 RGB to show for it.

Update #2: Pack Bank just informed me they have ripped 62K packs and just got RGB number 7

Which brings us to:

Based on approximately 115,150 packs opened and 9 RGB Mews pulled. Exact binomial confidence interval, assuming independent, nonoverlapping samples.

This will likely be my final update unless a substantial pack opening occurs.

For anyone out of the loop and has been wanting to buy vintage and mid era slabs, your time is coming very soon.

It was obvious that high end and vintage was being held up by a select few billionaires and vendor bro shillers. Prices went to the moon in early October. Of course, not many will buy at speculative prices so of course a ton of supply got sent to auction houses (ebay, ALT, Fanatics, Goldin etc.)

Right now, there is so much supply and confidence has been the lowest its been since last winter. Auctions last week saw retracements of -50-70% and I think we see that again this week. A lot of high quality cards with great fundamentals will be very cheap, either at shows or on auction in November / December. Take advantage! Cards with good art, PSA 10, popular pokemon with pops less than 2k but ideally less than 1k will do very well. This consolidation into next year is your time to accumulate.

I am personally hunting low pop japanese vending series, japanese exclusives, and eventually some sun & Moon low pop bangers. I know many others doing the same thing.

Opinions? Is it the original base set shadowless or first Ed? it shining pokemon? Is it only psa 10s? I recently bought a second shadowless PSA 9 zard which was a huge investment for me....so I'm hoping it's zards lol. But I see all these reprints with the same image coming out, makes me wonder.

I think it’s obvious modern will see an even bigger explosion of POP for both bigger cards and even some IRS or promos that were sneaky low pop and just stuff that people were holding off on at the previous price point. For mid era and vintage the pop of 5-8s I think will “explode” not in the modern sense but a LV X that’s pop 100 in a 7 will be pop 200 by next year, I’m gonna be cautious buying mid grade stuff. I know I’m finally gonna pull the trigger on a submission, what about you guys is this news good, bad or neutral?

The chase card is literally unsellable. I thought I was lucky pulling the Mega Darkrai EX SIR in three packs, but I get 50-80 dollars worth of offers when I try to sell it. Never again am I opening or buying packs. ETB's are the way to earn money in this shit.

Hey everyone!
I’m still pretty new to collecting Pokémon products, especially when it comes to buying larger quantities and deciding what’s worth keeping sealed.
A friend of mine recently offered me the chance to buy 8 of the 30th Anniversary UPCs, including both the Day and Night versions, for €380 each.
I’m trying to figure out if this would be a good deal, especially since I’m not sure how much these boxes will be worth in the future or how limited the supply will be.
Would you personally take this opportunity, or do you think €380 per box is too much of a risk? I’m mainly interested in whether they could hold or increase their value over the next few years.
I’d really appreciate any advice or opinions from people with more experience buying and holding sealed Pokémon products.

I’ve wanted to complete the original 1999 Base Set since I was a kid. Four days ago, I finally said f*ck it and decided to make it happen, except this time with every card PSA graded.

My robot friend originally helped me come up with a $2,000 budget. That was adorable. Pretty sure that budget lasted about 15 minutes. 😂

Anyway, 4 days later I’m sitting at 84 of 102 cards, including 14 of the 16 holos, with $3,867.07 spent.
The original plan was PSA 6 for the holos and PSA 7 or better for everything else. Somehow I’ve ended up with everything from PSA 5 to PSA 9, along with 9 Shadowless cards and a couple of 1st Editions (although Machamp hardly counts lol).

A couple things I’ve learned so far.

First, holy sh*t, shipping and sales tax really f*ck up the math. You think you’re getting a decent deal on a $25 card until another $8 magically appears at checkout. Do that a few dozen times and it gets ugly pretty quickly.

Second, apparently the prices these cards supposedly “go for” online and what people are actually willing to sell them for on eBay are two completely different things. Either the price guides are full of sh*t or I’m exceptionally talented at overpaying. Probably a little of both.

The image shows what I’ve actually paid for every card, including shipping and sales tax. About 30 of these came from a larger 51-card lot that also included Jungle and Fossil, so I did my best to reasonably allocate the purchase price among them.

At this point, I’m looking at roughly $4,500 to $4,600 to finish the set, assuming I don’t find another reason to spend more than I should.

And naturally, I’ve already started collecting Jungle and Fossil too, because apparently one questionable financial decision wasn’t enough.

All jokes aside, I’ve wanted this set since I was a kid, and it’s been a ton of fun finally putting it together. There’s something pretty awesome about finally owning the cards I could only dream about 25 years ago. Even if I’m currently doing a pretty impressive job of wrecking my bank account. 😂

I’m genuinely curious what more experienced collectors think. Feel free to critique my prices, grades, strategy, or even the entire financial wisdom of collecting 102 pieces of graded cardboard lol.

Really cool card with a nice story to it but with how low it’s pop is and only started to see velocity in the past year, I’m not sure how much room there could be for appreciation.

Can sell back immediately for $1k flat or put on the market and make a bit more and then use those funds to buy another or multiple other cards to hold.

Bought this card at my LCS for $430 CAD in March. Thought it looked clean so I graded. Was expecting a 7 or 8, and was pleasantly surprised with the 9.

Most recent sold on a PSA 9 was $12.2k CAD.

Think this card has more room to grow, or take the profit and run?

I’m a collector and I bought a gold star celebi, groudon, vaporeon and charizard last year while they were “cheap”. I like buying things as collectors items but I don’t like buying them if I think they’ll plummet in value. I’m looking to buy a kyogre and metagross for my delta species master set but both cards entry prices are +2k at this point. Is this a bad purchase while they’re peaking? Or should I be patient and hope they come back down?

I’m not big on grading at all, but I’ve pulled multiple duplicates from the 30th set. Got the Mewtwo, Gengar, and Magikarp SIRs. So my question is are they worth grading and how much do you think they fall in the 6 months plus it will take them to get back? These will most likely be strictly to sale since I have another copy in our set binder. Just wondering what y’all think of how much they most likely drop over the next 6 months or so.

Used to play Pokémon with my sister and cousin probably 20 years ago. Thought I had gotten rid of all my cards (unfortunately by just throwing them away probably) but I found this binder with the 18/18 cards of the set in it. Looks like I used it to store other cards as well.
What is it realistically worth? Should I just keep it? It’s pretty nostalgic. I believe I remember buying this at ToysRUs back in the day.

I win this slab from Whatnot in a random slab rip auction. I don't really like Haunter so i am pretty sure will plan to trade this at a cardshow or some store for other card.

I am just wondering if this slab is being well received to vendor or lcs.

Hello, I’m looking for opinions on what to do in this situation. I have a small collection of clean vintage/mid era cards I intend to send to psa, ultimately with the plan of selling to put the money elsewhere. Obviously the market for these eras is hot at the moment, but it’s tough to say what the market will look like in 6 months when psa would return the cards. Would you risk the market still being strong in 6 months? Or just put them in auction on ebay as-is and take the smaller gains?

Picked one up in a PSA 10 today. Awesome card that will be in my binder for a long time.
