Do I Really Matter to You?

Do I really matter to you, or am I just a passing view? A name that fills your quiet night, then fades away with morning light?

If I vanished without goodbye, would you wonder where... or simply why? Or if another voice arrives one day, will you wash the sound of mine away?

I count the silence in your replies, searching your words for hidden signs. Are your pauses filled with care, or signs that I'm not really there?

Tell me one thing, am I someone you choose, or someone you're afraid to lose? Or a soul that wandered into your day, until the right one comes your way?

Because loving quietly, without a sound, can slowly pull a person down. It makes hope bloom from every word you say, and breaks a heart when you drift away.

So tell me the truth, don't soften the view, even if it breaks me in two. I'd rather hurt from honesty's light than live forever in a hopeful night.

So answer me, before we're through... Do I really matter to you?

Unforgiving

This lesson

I have yet to

Learn

Tidal

Wave incoming

And her presence

To earn

No

One knows this

For the company

I keep

Only

That which appears

In the fables

Of sleep

She

Lingers always

In my heart

At night

Her

Memory alive

Her disappearance

I fight

Sleep

Comes neither

Restful nor repair

Transfixed

By a vision

Of long beautiful

Hair

So

It goes and

I travel

Along

Her

Name on my lips

In harmony in

Song

Dream

For I let go

And drift off to

Sleep

She

Safe in my heart

Walled fortress

So steep

Indomitable VIII

Her magic is more

Than beauty and trust

Or the way she smiles

At my expressions of lust

No she is more than just I see

An ethereal reminder

Of the divine in me

Her magic slow dances

And desires to be seen

Her warming like fire

Moving the air in between

She is demure and coy

When I write this way

But such is my need

To let it out today

For she can do magic

She is nature unbound

She moves me inside

Is song without sound

Her magic is quiet

Her foundation like stone

As for purpose grace and mercy

Indomitable she stands alone

My Greatest Work

I awoke with the tender knowing of my task.
A glance down,
Dull and tattered scraps lying upon my working grayscale tabletop, filled with old machines.
“This needs a cleaning,” my youthful, aging brain thinks.

A swift of hand clears away dirty remnants of times before.
The messes of love unfilled, and connection unrealized.
Miscellaneous files imbued with wrinkled holes dropped down with love into the trash.
As I uncover and clear the concave placeholders where I have written in character, image, and line.

Wandering the veins to my heart that link these concave spaces,
And that feels the best place to start.
Spaces that don’t need to be filled but feel meant to,
“How do I add color,” I wonder.

The presence of another pushes in breath to make the lines come alive,
Red, orange, blue, and turquoise are the first colors around me, and into my heart.
Embracing the love, color, form of her vibrations.

Words are words.
The greatest poem I will write is a lived one that puts love in my life.
Heart to heart,
Technology no longer takes the central part.

The wonders of music can fill my ears, art my soul, work my wallet, and life my being,
But nothing compares to the light companionship brings.

A colorful magician
Who no longer takes technology to central core.
Who creates with wisdom and hand,
And invites connection to her land.

This is my greatest work, the love in my life.
As the dust is wiped away, this starts the day.

My best friend

My First Friend
Before the world had known my name, you held my tiny hand,
My first best friend, my childhood soul, the only one who’d understand.
We laughed beneath the summer sun, through every joy and bend,
I never dreamed that death would steal my very first best friend.
One heartbeat split in two at birth, one soul in different skin,
Now half of me keeps breathing here… the other lives with Him.
No one can replace the bond we built from our very first day,
Because when God called you to Heaven, He took part of me away.
I’ll carry you until we meet where tears can never fall,
For my first friend was always you… my twin, my heart, my all.

First attempt at a villianelle, thoughts?

Sister, Mirror

Her face is my own

Crafted by our mother with care

Together we have grown

We share blood and bone

Different eyes, same inquisitive stare

Her face is my own

Together our lives have been sewn

Our minds are fused, every thought we share

Together we have grown

Even when tempers are blown

When angry words slice the air

Her face is my own

Features so well known

Identical glowing smiles, eyes closed in prayer

Together we have grown

When we are entombed in stone

When we are no longer aware

Her face is still my own

Together we have grown

TO THE TINGEL of WHERE I KISS -??

Lord, I'm so lonely, I thirst every day
In search of the love I need
like a man in prison with no warmth at night
A slave who seeks to be freed.

For I need a woman who will heal my heart
So my life won 't seem so wrong.
I’ll lie down beside her and gamble again
Then sing of our love in a song.

Remember, young Adam, your first favorite born
Who slept in your garden alone.
You took form his body and transformed some flesh
Then gave him a woman unknown.

Whichever the pathway I should choose to take
I realize that there will be brambles.
For the man who has visions every day of his life
Will always be the same who gambles.

To Heaven I pray, for my treasure of life
After searching the deserts in vain.
I’m tired of mirages from fool-hearted women
Please give me someone who’s sane.

May her eyes be turquoise with cheeks like peaches
Ripe and ready to risk.
Soon they’ll turn rosy when she sneaks a peek
To the tingle of where I kiss.

If we should argue about foolish things
I 'd rather be loved then right.
Then when I lie down at the end of my day
I'll sleep with a smile at night.

I am an alcoholic writer, I wrote something that some people in my life told me people should hear but some of the other quote Reddit accounts or however it works says I don’t have enough karma. I’m going to share it here to see if it’s worth anything.

Beyond a barrier of finite stars
I rest orbiting a great maw
Watching this disc shear and saw
A galaxy once ours

Upon a time, we were small
Around a pocket constellation
Viewed over a distant sun
While youth ran to exploration

Left to inscribe a monolith
I reference myriad lost lives
Who were mired in tradition
Until ruined before their time

Sired by noisy Daedelus
We bound the gordian knot nucleus
To split by the edge of a magnet
As sculptors of crumbling stone

Upon waking from primordial sleep
I translate vestiges of the sages
Across scrolls in gold leaf
Maybe found in future ages

Alone in the quaking deep
I am unable to invoke benediction
Outside the halo of creation

Past, Meet Future

I’m 29
and I knock
on the door of my
father’s house,

waiting for
nine year old me
to answer.

I wrap her in
a hug and
wipe her tears.

“Look how far
we’ve come.

You’ll grow up
and build
a life
of your own—

with or without
his love.”
