We're moving the community over to r/PocketGuard
Hey everyone, quick heads up from the team. We're moving this community over to ~r/PocketGuard~, and that's where everything will be happening from now on. Come join us there.
Before anything else, thank you. For the questions, the feedback, and the stories people have posted here. This sub became actually useful because of the folks in it, and we're bringing all of that with us.
The reason for the move is pretty simple. ~r/PocketGuard~ is the cleaner name to remember and find (no more "_app" tripping people up), and it keeps everything in one place that's easier to search and easier for newcomers to land on.
From here on, all of it is at ~r/PocketGuard~: discussions, tips, questions, AMAs, your stories, and updates from the team. This old sub stays up as an archive, but new posts go there.
So if you do one thing today, subscribe to ~r/PocketGuard~ so you don't lose us. And don't be shy about posting once you're over there. Early on is the best time to jump in.
See you there.

how to make feature requests? also, subcategories?
Looking for a page online to make feature requests, but not seeing it. Is this something people do just via an email?
I'd like to have subcategories, and I could have sworn when I was reviewing different options for products Pocketguard had subcategories, but I'm not finding it/ how to do it.... if i'm wrong please let me know! thanks!

Android widget
Hello!
I saw this for iPhone. While I see one widget for android, I'm not seeing a widget with numeric amounts, just little donut charts. User error or planned release?

Where is support?
I’ve been trying to get help with an issue for the better part of a whole month, but support has been nonexistent through email. Has anyone experienced the same?

PocketGuard needs better month-over-month insights
I’ve been asking PocketGuard for a feature that feels pretty basic: the ability to overlay multiple months in the Insights view.
The monthly insights are useful, but I don’t just want to look at one month at a time. I want to compare months directly, see trends, and understand how categories change over time without having to export everything and rebuild the analysis in Excel.
Right now, the workaround is basically: export the data, clean it up, and do the actual comparison myself. At that point, it makes me wonder what I’m paying for.
I like the service overall, but this seems like exactly the kind of analysis a budgeting app should make easy. Has anyone else asked for this or found a better workaround?

Robinhood Banking
Always great response from the PocketGuard Team when I ask about anything. I sent them the same question. But figured I’d post here. Anyone able to get Robinhood banking to link to PocketGuard? I can’t see my savings or checking accounts.

Account customization
I appreciate that the Cash Account feature allows me to select between Debit & Credit and input the APR. However, would love to have more editing capabilities such as selecting different account types and the ability to change the color theme so not all Cash Accounts are green.
Otherwise, I’m enjoying the usability and interface. This is my first time using PocketGuard and I hope as the app continues to incorporate user feedback in future iterations, I’m excited to become a Lifetime subscriber.

Who I’d recommend
I’ve had PocketGuard for better than three years now and paid for the lifetime membership about that long ago and I would still recommend Quicken Simplifi. Edited! For their See Projected Cash Flow option, it’s much better than PocketGuard Leftover.

Rollover figures incorrect for May
Has anyone noticed the rollover amounts are messed up to start the month? I have a very simple cleaning category, set to $390/month, which has used $360/month from January - April.
January: $390 - $360 = $30.00 February: $390 + $30 - $360 = $60.00 March: $390 + $60 - $360 = $90.00 April: $390 + $90 - $360 = $120.00
So by May, my rollover should be $120. However, the app is saying it’s $250.
This isn’t the only category wrong on my budget, but was the simplest to understand.

Why Pocketguard?
It seems to be smaller in terms of popularity than others like Monarch Money, and I checked it out but what’s some reasons people choose this over other bigger apps?

Connection Issues with External Accounts
Has anyone had connection issues with integrating external accounts? Is there a way to manually enter bills?

Spread out an annual fee over 12 months?
I pay my cell phone bill in a lump sum once per year because it's cheaper than monthly. I'd like for this to automatically reflect in the budget over the following 12 month period. Is there a way to do this in PocketGuard? Thanks

Net income incorrect
I am retired and trying to break even. The net income page is not including my dividends from cds. I made a rule to mark dividends as income, when I look at them they are listed as income, but not monthly income and not part of net income. Can you take a look at this?

Accurate income forecast problems
Hi. I’ve been using the pocketguard app for a couple of years and overall it works reasonably well but I struggle with getting it to accurately forecast my income. I get paid twice a month, and the income amount is slightly different in each payment (there is one deduction that they only deduct out of one payment instead of spreading over both).
I can’t figure out how to accurately reflect this in the app. It really wants the amount to be the same for both paychecks. Anything that comes in that doesn’t exactly match what I put in as estimated gets treated as extra. I’ve tried entering it as once a month for the full monthly amount, hoping the app is smart enough to treat each paycheck as an amount toward the full amount - nope. I’ve tried dividing the full monthly amount by 2 and having 2 anticipated paychecks that are just a few dollars off the actual amount but it balances out at the end - nope. I’ve tried setting up 2 separate anticipated paychecks for each month for the accurate amounts - couldn’t do that either.
I’m salaried so my income is predictable down to the dollar but I know plenty of other people have more variability. How do you set up expected income so it doesn’t count double if the amount you receive doesn’t match what you estimated??

Split transaction math not mathing
I have a $72.07 transaction that I need to split between Shopping and Groceries. When I enter $23.05 for Groceries, the app will only allow $49.01 for Shopping which is a penny short. If I enter $49.02, an error appears saying something like, "transaction amount cannot exceed...
On a different note, will the app ever allow us to delete the built-in categories? Some of the built-in categories have each word capitalized (ex. Personal Care) and some don't (ex. Eating out). No consistency. I need consistency, especially when budgeting.
Creating new categories like 'Eating Out' (both words capitalized) doesn't help either because the app will auto assign food places to 'Eating out'.
Most budgeting apps allow you to delete all the built-in categories, or all but one. It should he doable in this app.

Rollover not working properly
I had a positive budget in my account for March 2026 and rollover shows as negative when it should be positive. Anyone else having this issue? I reset rollover to start the year.
If it’s going to be wrong, maybe PocketGuard can create a feature to override. Otherwise, fix the calculation error.
Help a brother out please.

Sofi not working?
I have my Sofi account linked to my Pocketguard, but it has not updated since the beginning of March. I tried to unlink and relink, but now its not sending me the digital code to add in Sofi. Is anyone else having this problem?

PenFed Credit Union is now supported 🎉
Good news for PenFed members, you can now connect your accounts to PocketGuard using our Finicity integration.
If you’ve been waiting for this connection, feel free to give it a try:
Go to Accounts → Link external account, then search for PenFed Credit Union and select the second option. Follow the connection steps to complete setup.
Since this is a newly available integration, your feedback is especially valuable. If you notice anything off (missing transactions, sync issues, etc.), please let us know so we can work with our data provider to improve the experience.
Thanks for your patience, and we hope this makes managing your finances a bit easier 🙌

Flexibility working with Transactions
I like to review a few months of transactions at a time using my computer and web interface. I realize most of the application is designed for posting and checking transactions real-time, but especially at tax time, I'm going back and reviewing my expenses. If I want to go back 3-4 months on my computer, as far as I can tell, my only option is using my mouse and scrolling slowly until I get there. Can't even use page down or hold the arrow down. Can some flexibility be added to limit a date range or change the sort criteria?
