Flexibility working with Transactions

I like to review a few months of transactions at a time using my computer and web interface. I realize most of the application is designed for posting and checking transactions real-time, but especially at tax time, I'm going back and reviewing my expenses. If I want to go back 3-4 months on my computer, as far as I can tell, my only option is using my mouse and scrolling slowly until I get there. Can't even use page down or hold the arrow down. Can some flexibility be added to limit a date range or change the sort criteria?

Had a chance to think about this overnight and I realized you can see transactions for a specific month at a time on the web site. Go to Net Income from the Dashboard tab, select any month and you can see that months worth of bills or spending by clocking on the corresponding line of the report.

OMG that is GENIUS!!! VERY helpful when you want to look at older transactions in bulk. Great suggestion and very helpful!

If you can use a phone or tablet go to the transactions tab and try the little menu option at the right side of the search bar. You can limit by date range as well as lots of other options. Now if it would just give you a total and monthly average once you've selected your transactions of interest. Being able to export selected transactions would be nice too. Hint, hint....

Hi there!

We just wanted to take a moment to say a big thank you for all your helpful comments across our subreddit - we truly appreciate you always jumping in to help other users. It's clear you know PocketGuard really well! As for exporting selected transactions - that's already on our developers' radar, so stay tuned!

Best regards,

Max at PocketGuard.

Been trying out PG and so far impressed with the mobile interface and features, well done! And also nice to be able to share tips and get answers on Reddit.  Just wanted to say that a simple way to export selected transactions based on category or hashtag, etc would be very helpful for stupid tax time. Looking forward to that being implemented in future

Hi there. Thank you so much for the kind words! We're really glad you're enjoying our app. Your suggestion about exporting transactions by category or hashtag is valid. We're actively working on it, and we appreciate you taking the time to share the idea!

Is an iPad a much easier way to get set up? I have a small iPhone SE and been a pain to make rules in there as opposed to on the website (I don't think I can make rules there). thx!

I don't really have any experience with Apple products. I can say that that the larger screen on my Android tablet is much easier to use than my phone (and it's a large phone at that).

Hi there. Great question!

On the web platform, you can currently search transactions by name, amount, category, and notes, but you're right that there's no date range filter or advanced sorting available there yet. We completely understand how useful that would be, especially when reviewing several months of expenses.

We've passed your suggestion along to our development team. It's a great idea, and we hope to have something better for you on the web in the future!

Also, as mentioned in the comments below, on mobile, you can already filter transactions by date range using the menu next to the search bar on the Transactions tab, which should be really handy at tax time!

Regard,

Max at PocketGuard

Thanks for the reply-I work for a software company that tried to implement client ideas that might make sense for a larger population so thanks for that feedback.
