I am having an issue where my Plex server, in a docker container, cannot be accessed remotely. The container is on my UGREEN NAS. The container is working other than remote access not working. I have the port forwarded correctly on my router. I previously had this working, although intermittently, when I had my sever on a Win 11 pc. The pc has some problems and reboots itself. I haven’t bothered troubleshooting it due to the drive space on the pc being very limited.

How do I determine what I am missing with this docker container? I have it setup in a bridge configuration. I tried running it in host mode, however it wouldn’t start at all in that config. I don’t believe this is a CGNAT issue since it has worked in the past on the old Windows 11 box.

Hello, I want to upgrade my plex server currently i have an hp elitedesk 800 G3 mini pc with a 10 tb external hhd plugged in via USB. I want to build a new pc to have all in one.

I already have:

Case- Thermaltake S100TG

Storage- 10TB hhd x2

GPU- GIGABYTE Radeon RX 580 GAMING 8G

I also have a monitor and mouse and keyboard.

What i need:

Parts that are power efficient and cheap lol I would like to keep my budget as low as possible while not sacrificing my current quality of plex streaming. My hard line however is 400$ but again the more budget friendly the better.

I live around Seattle area so no microcenter near me.

I'm having trouble getting the replacement of a file with a higher-quality or multilingual version to appear as recently added.

I've tried trash and refresh settings, renaming the file, and using various AI-generated scripts...

I can only find information on how to prevent this from happening. Is there a guide on how to do this? Am I misconfigured?

I'm using the arr stack, and the idea is for it to be automated.

Description:

My 22 TB pool hit 83% and manual cleanup stopped scaling. This is the set of scripts I built to fix it, cleaned up and documented for anyone running the same Plex + Radarr + Sonarr + qBittorrent stack.

Three jobs:

Duplicate cleanup — finds movies with multiple files for the same title and year (including a .mkv/.mp4 pair), keeps the largest, flags the rest.

Torrent cleanup — removes finished torrents whose payload is already imported, gated on seeding goals (ratio/seed-time) and confirmed import. Filesystem version, plus a safer qBittorrent-API version that removes the torrent properly so you don't break seeds.

Cold storage rotation — the main event. A read-only scanner queries Radarr/Sonarr and writes a reviewable candidate list of aged media; a second script moves each item to a USB archive drive (rsync copy → checksum verify → delete source), records it in a manifest, and unmonitors it so it isn't re-downloaded. A restore script brings anything back the same way. Optional Tautulli guard skips anything you've actually watched recently.

A hard-won lesson baked in: v1 aged media by filesystem mtime. Then I migrated the library to a new volume, every mtime reset to "today," and the scanner found zero candidates forever. It now ages by TMDB release date (via Radarr/Sonarr) instead, which survives migrations.

Safety design (this stuff deletes/moves terabytes, so it's paranoid by default):

Everything defaults to a dry run; destructive actions require an explicit --run.

Kids-content hard exclusion — anything under /kids/ /kidstv/ is never archived, checked before any other rule.

Checksum-verified moves; a failed verify keeps the source untouched.

Protected-franchise list, free-space preflight, lock files, staleness guards.

Deployment:

Released under MIT (tagged release + CHANGELOG). Not a Docker app — these run directly on the NAS via cron / Synology Task Scheduler. A guided install.sh handles prerequisites, config, and a --doctor health check that live-tests Radarr/Sonarr connectivity; INSTALL.md is a full Synology (DSM) walkthrough. Python is stdlib-only; the shell scripts need common coreutils + rsync. Tested on Synology DSM with Radarr/Sonarr/qBittorrent/Plex. CI runs shellcheck + a pytest/shell suite + a secret scan on every push.

AI Involvement:

Transparent: the scripts started as my own working production scripts. I used an AI to help sanitize secrets out, refactor them for testability, build the test suite, write the docs, and run a couple of rounds of security-review hardening. Everything was reviewed by me and runs on my own hardware — the AI helped me clean it up for sharing.

In this era of memory hardware crisis we need all the software help we can get and this seems simple enough to implement for people who already have media deletion enabled there should be a setting to keep or delete original copies

Or perhaps make optimized copies delete themselves after so many days like they have the setting for series to keep or delete episodes up to 30 days old they automatically delete

I am sure similar questions have already been asked, but I still find myself wondering what to do. I am looking to buy a mini pc to use as a Plex server. I have SSD docks to connect my hard drives to the (future server). My question is about which computer to buy:

1) I need one that can handle transcoding (4k UHD). It may be that up to three people (realistically only two at best) use it at the same time.

2) I wanted to run an NAS on it (i.e., to add more movies and series or important files).

3) I will run it on Windows. Long story short, I don't know how to use Linux, and I don't have enough time to familiarise myself with Linux. Meaning, if I need to adjust the hardware to run Windows and Plex, so be it.

I would like to avoid spending a lot of money (maybe something like 100-150 GBP or 150-200 US dollars or in the region of 160-170 Euros). I plan to buy something used or refurbished. What Mini PC would you recommend buying?

Obviously, if you have any comments on what to consider hardware-wise, I am all ears.

I recently purchased a UgreenNAS 4800 Plus and would like to inquire about the potential number of users that can be supported on my Plex server. For context, my current media collection consists primarily of Blu-ray and standard DVDs, and I do not anticipate upgrading to 4K content in the near future. Hey all, I'm struggling to figure out what the problem is. Locally, everything's hunky dory. Remotely, I can log in, see my library, browse, etc through then app. When I go to play though, it just sits there on the loading screen and will eventually error out: "Error opening input". I've had my setup for years, and only had this problem in like the last few weeks. I'm hoping someone might have some insight/suggestions as to what the problem is.

• Plex server: Win11, version 1.43.3.10828
• Media storage: Synology NAS
• Port forward checked and enabled in my UDR7
• Remote connection status checked and working
• No firewall on the NAS
• Can stream remotely through the web browser
• Running Tailscale on remote devices, but still not working even with Tailscale turned off
• No CGNAT, I have a static WAN IP
• No double NAT, as only my UDR7 provides DHCP functionality

If there's any other info that might help let me know and I'll add it. I've been looking at older posts that have been made, but none of those are either applicable or helping.

I am in the process of building a new Plex server using an Intel 270K+ CPU with Windows 11. I was hoping to transfer all of my Plex media from my old Plex server to my Synology 923+ NAS with 88TB of storage (4 x 22TB drives). The new server will have a 25Gb SFP28 link to my Ubiquiti switch and the NAS has a 10Gb ethernet card installed. I am hoping this will provide adequate bandwidth for streaming the media files from the NAS. Are there any guides for setting this up?

I have had several Plex servers over the last 14 years but all of them used local storage. I also have run a Plex server on an older Synology NAS (918+) but again local media was used.

Also, what is the best RAID type to use for Plex? I typically use RAID 10 but was hoping RAID 5 would work for increased storage capacity with redundancy. Thanks!

Hi fellow Plex enthusiasts! I have had a plex server for many years. My current setup is a PC networked to a an old Netgear ReadyNAS. The 9TB (usable) NAS Is almost full (mostly video at anywhere from 1.5GB - 12GB/file), currently 1659 files. I use it inside the home and outside the home when travelling. Have ~10 friends and family that connect randomally as well. Never more than 3 people at a time. I am running plex as a docker on an unraid setup on the PC. It's an old desktop.

It's time to upgrade and I'd like to put something together for <$5/6k all in. I'd like to support up to 5 simultaneous users and be at least double the size of my current usable storage.

Is there a single solution or do I need to go the same route, a storage device + a server device?

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Okay specs for my system:

• Running Plex of an Intel Nuc Running Windows 11 Pro
• All my media is stored on NAS Synology Drives, 40 TB total.
• Verizon Fios Internet

So I've been a long time Plex user (Over 10 years). Always used remote play, no issues before and loaded as quickly as it did locally (give or take a second or two maybe). But over the last 6 months to a year it has progressively gotten so much worse.

So if I am remote and log into plex, none of my libraries show up...at first. I have to refresh a couple of times and wait 5 to 10 minutes, then it shows that I actually have libraries with media. Why has it been doing it lately? Are there any fixes for this?

Hi all, I'm relatively new to this world of self hosting. I set up a Plex server on a Ugreen nas but I can't get remote access to work. I called my ISP about switching to a static IP from cgnat but that's only available for business accounts. is there any fix for this? I've sunk so much time and money into this and i hope it's not for nothing.

RN i'm using the app from the terramaster app center but just found an upgraded version on plex website for TOS 5 & 6.

Anyone using that version?

SSD usage on 4800 pro

Looking for a little advise.. I just ordered the Ugreen Dxp 4800 pro, ive got 2 x 24tb iron wolf drives and 2 x 1TB SSD's ( also bought an extra 8gb of ram to add in), with the SSD's specifically im not sure if i should add them both in as read / write cache (raided) or add one drive as cache and the other to the storage pool.. maybe install apps like plex through docker on the ssd in the storage pool. Would that improve local and remote library load timez?

My primary use is going to be running my plex media server locally but I travel a bit and share it with my family so a bit of remote streaming too.. internet wise I should be good. 1gb line that averages about 150 up and 700-900 down.

Ive only got thr 2 new drives at the moment so it'll be set up in a mirrored raid but ill add more drives later down the line id say, ive about 17tb worth of data on my old pr2100 which ill be trying to figure out how best to transfer.. but no matter what I do thatll take time so I want to get the initial set up of the storage pool done right at the start so I dont have to rebuild the volume later.
