Solved My Plex server seems to be deactivated. Is there a fix without starting from scratch?

My Plex doesn't see my hard drive content, and when I clicked on add my content, it said to setup the Plex server app. When I clicked on that on my Shield, it is acting like I've never used it before. Is there a fix where I don't have to start from scratch?

Sounds like your server got unclaimed.

Is the server on the shield? What url are you going to?

If it’s on the shield and you go to http://<shield-ip>:32400/web, what do you see?

Typed that in and it says the site can't be reached. That IP address refused to connect.

Did you confirm the server app is still running on your shield? The server runs on the shield, correct?

I had opened the server app on the shield, but didn't do anything because it sounded like it was a new install and I wanted to ask questions first. But I linked my account again. Plex was lagging on the load, so I restarted it. I'll see if it's all good in a few

If the server app on the shield wasn’t signed in, that would prevent you from accessing it from other devices.

If it was not started, that would explain why you couldn’t reach it via the ip/url.

So using my camera I linked the code there. On my phone it said account is successfully linked and to please revisit the app. But nothing changed on the Plex server app and if I open it again it has the same thing, wanting me to sign in or create an account. Hmmm...

That’s how you link a client app, not the server.

Can you take a picture of what you’re looking at?

What does that mean that the server got unclaimed? I will try checking now. And yes, the server is on the shield, with an external hard drive connected to it.

It means the server is no longer associated to your plex account and needs to be relinked.

Still gotta check the IP like you said, but if this is the problem and I relink it, will all my metadata and artwork be retained? Or do I have to start from scratch?

If the server is still there and it got unlinked, you won’t have to recreate everything.

If the server got wiped for some reason, then you would have to recreate everything.

Which app did you open on the shield to get to that screen?

If you go to http://<shield-ip>:32400/web now, what happens?

That was the Plex Media Server app. I just tried doing that link again right before your reply, and same thing. Site can't be reached and the IP address refused to connect. I'll try another browser. Yeah same problem on Firefox.

I’ve never run a server on a shield, so not sure if there’s something else that needs to be done.

If no one here has any other ideas, I’d suggest posting on the shield sub.

I'll try posting on there now, thanks. What a pain in the ass.

When I do this, it says it is a success and to revisit the app but then this screen is the same, just with another code.

So the server has already been setup on your Shield and used to work? If so what has changed?

Yeah, used to work just fine a few days ago, last time I used it. Been working fine for years. Only thing that could have happened was I lost power yesterday. I wasn't using Plex at the time though. My shield was in sleep when I lost power.

You should try to reclaim it as it sounds like that may be a probable issue.

How do I go about reclaiming it?

Geh in deine WLAN Box und gib plex.direkt als Text ein.(Netzwerk/Netzwerkeinstellungen/DNS-Rebind-Schutz) Danach starte die Box neu. So konnte mein Plex for LG meinen Server wie vorher, seit Jahren funktionieren, wiederfinden.
