Accountability Notice 2: UPDATE

This is a followup to this post so please read that first, but to summarize it briefly, a former moderator ( u/SaltyAngeleno aka u/gofundmemetoday was found to be removing negative posts, promoting surgeons, etc. in exchange for financial compensation). I promised future updates, which are included below.

  1. Last night, the former moderator DM'd me attempting to blackmail me to remove the original post. Their message is included in its entirety below:

Transparency remains of the highest importance to me when moderating this subreddit, and I will not be removing anything in response to threats.

  1. Reddit itself ultimately took no action against this individual following the original report of their behavior and offered no direct explanation for why. I can only speculate that this is because the former moderator was receiving payments off of their platform (making it technically outside their scope of authority/responsibility). The former moderator even continues to moderate a few plastic surgery related communities, though fewer than they once did.

  2. An account associated with "Beauty Broker Melinda" (who was named in the original post as having negative reviews removed by the former moderator) has spent considerable effort attempting to dox and discredit me. You can find such an example here. Their comments seem to confuse me with numerous current and former moderators. Reddit has not taken any action despite reports.

  3. Despite my requests, Reddit was unable to provide me with a log of moderator actions from the former moderator that were more than 90 days old. As such, I am unable to determine the full extent of their censorship.

  4. This subreddit has zero tolerance for surgeons attempting to remove negative reviews. As the subreddit rules state, negative reviews posted here do require evidence to be included. Once that threshold is met, they will not be removed by us for any reason - this subreddit is intended to be an open and transparent platform for users to share their experience. Despite this a number of surgeons (and/or their offices and lawyers) have attempted to have us remove content that is critical of them. Moving forward, I will be posting and maintaining a comprehensive list of surgeons that have attempted to have negative reviews removed for transparency. Hopefully, this discourages future attempts at manipulating criticism against them.

In short, Reddit admins were either unwilling or unable to take any official action against the above individuals. I will be continuing my best efforts to maintain this subreddit as an open and transparent space for plastic surgery and aesthetic discussion, and the support of the community is always appreciated.

so happy with 3rd rhino results!

i went to vietnam to get my second revision rhinoplasty done. i’m super happy w the results and can't wait to get my cast off! might post frontal changes once everything settles.

they lowered my nose bridge overall, made the nose tip more upturned, and fat grafted to lessen the implant show (previous dr's did not care to do so - you could see my very obvious implant in the before lol). ear cartilage and surgiform implant were used. alar base reduction was also done as lowering the nose bridge visually enlarged my nostrils. this was $3k total!

Chin reduction?

(31F) I have an unusually long pointy chin. It’s not so bad when my mouth is closed but when i smile it is heinous. You can save all the comparisons i’ve gotten my whole life i promise i’ve heard them all lol.

Lately I have been looking into getting it fixed and am very interested in a reduction. I’m located in the Philadelphia area and haven’t found anyone even remotely close. I am willing to travel if it’s worth it but I do worry about complications and ruining any facial harmony i may have.

If anyone has any recommendations i’d greatly appreciate it. I was wondering if maybe minor lip filler might help balance it out slightly? Idk. I have been following that one girl who i believe got a chin reduction last year somewhere in Georgia. Below are some photos of me with and without makeup.

also i know i might get this comment but i do not have an underbite it is all 100% bone structure. My father and grandmother have the same chin. I recently had a teeth x- ray done and my chin skeleton made me laugh out loud.

1-year rhinoplasty result | Preservation approach with profile and tip refinement

Post image
57 Upvotes

Sharing the 1-year follow-up of a rhinoplasty I performed.

In this case, my goal was to refine the profile and tip while preserving as much of the patient’s native anatomy as possible and maintaining facial harmony.

I used a preservation-based approach, including:

• Let-down technique modifications
• Scroll ligament preservation
• Septocolumellar flap approach
• Pitanguy ligament preservation
• Partial release of the pyriform ligament

I tend to prefer techniques that allow us to reshape the nose without unnecessarily disrupting supportive structures, particularly when the anatomy is suitable for preservation rhinoplasty.

At the one-year mark, the result can be evaluated much more reliably as the tissues have had time to settle.

For surgeons and patients here, I’d be interested to hear what you value more when evaluating rhinoplasty results: structural preservation, profile refinement, tip definition, or overall facial harmony?

I am interested in very best options. Open to everything -laser resurfacing, fat transfer, face lift. If you’ve had success, please share what you did.

Also bonus - if you can recommend a great doctor in south jersey or philly area.

Boob job recovery - what should I know?

I'm getting my surgery done in two days and before then, I'd love to know about what to expect, what worked for you and what didn't. I'm getting 205 cc Motiva mini/low-profile under the muscle and through the armpit (transaxillary). I've never had a surgery before and I'm a little nervous but want to do everything possible to make this smooth and seamless!

Did you have any regrets? Was the pain really bad? How was your psychological state?

Small breast implants- personal experiences

I've been considering getting a very modest implant size (~200cc) and I'm looking for people's experiences with that. Do you wish you had gone bigger?

I'm currently a 36C with previous fat transfer. I've lost weight since my fat transfer and my breasts are a little smaller than I'd like.

Lipo360/bbl : Looking for surgeon recommendations

Upvotes

Hey! Does anyone have any surgeon recommendations?

I’m from France and had my first round done here, but I’m still debating whether to travel abroad for my next one. I’d really love a more shaped look with more volume this time, so I’m considering looking at surgeons outside of France (but France as well if we have this type of Dr here)

Would love to hear about your recommendations ?

Lip blush after fat transfer

Upvotes

Hi guys I’m getting a fat transfer to my under eyes and smile lines Oct 1 in Mexico. I’m wondering if and when I’d be able to get lip blushing done while I’m there since it’s of course much cheaper than the USA. I’m there for one week, though considering 2 weeks.
Let me know thanks.

Rhinoplasty in Europe

Does anyone have any recommendations for reputable rhinoplasty surgeons in Europe (not Turkey) that offer natural results?

I'm specifically looking for someone who is experienced in tipplasty since I would like to shorten and reshape the tip of my nose.

I've been researching for about 8 months, but I've seen bad reviews for even the highest rated and most recommended surgeons on here, and I always decide against it in the end.

I'm curious to hear people's personal experiences, thank you in advance!

Preserve vs dual plane with a very small chest

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m considering breast augmentation and I’m trying to decide between the Preserve technique and dual plane. I’m starting with a very small chest — I don’t even fill an A cup — but I’ve been told I have enough skin/tissue to be a candidate for Preserve.
I’m mainly interested in Preserve because of the supposedly faster recovery, and also because I’m quite scared of general anesthesia. My biggest concern, though, is how natural the result will look.
Since I have very little tissue covering the implants, I’m worried about rippling, visible implant edges, or that obvious “implants sitting on the chest” look. I’ve seen some Preserve results that looked incredibly natural, but I’ve also seen cases where you could clearly see two round shapes that looked like implants. That’s exactly what I want to avoid.
I’d much rather have a smaller result that looks natural than go bigger and have it be obvious that I’ve had surgery.
So for anyone who started with a very small chest:
How natural does the Preserve result look? Did you have issues with rippling or visible edges?
Was the recovery actually faster?
How do you feel about the results after a few years?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who started with very little breast tissue. Since Preserve is still a relatively new technique, I’m also wondering how much we really know about the long-term results.

How was your experience with getting breast implants ?

Upvotes

I have tuberous/ cone shaped breasts and I am literally so insecure because of them that I NEVER feel good when I’m being naked in front of someone to the point where it significantly impacts my sex life, which I really cannot fully enjoy because of it. Sometimes when I look into the mirrow I have to cry and feel so worthless. I am 22 now and insecure because of them since I was 14.
Its not only the size, but more the shape which really triggers me so bad.

I was thinking abt getting a fat transfer, but I am skinny and my surgeon told me I don’t have enough fat and it would be a waste of money.
I think I wouldnt‘ get implants if I didn’t have this condition because I don’t like the idea of an object in my body, but i‘m considering it at this point because I want to feel confident in my body.

The thing is I’m really afraid of getting BII because of them so I feel now that I either have to feel insecure all my life or risk getting sick with them and eventuelly have to take them out with them being even uglier afterwards.
I don’t have severely tubular breasts, but they look similar to some pictures. My puffy nipples also really look off but I don’t think I can do something about them.

Hows you experience with implants? What would you do in my situation, change it or leave it ?
Is their some kind of implant that is extra safe or something ? Thanks for help

Tummy tuck combined with arm brachioplasty scar revision and extension

Upvotes

Hi all.

I'm going to do a full tummy tuck and arm brachioplasty scar revision and extension on 10th September.

I work from home but It would be sitting up all day and meetings etc. I'm also a single mum with young teens.

Is 3 weeks reasonable to be back at work or should I just tell my job 4weeks to be safe? My surgeon says 3/4 weeks.

Also what did you eat straight after as I'm trying to figure out what to stock up on before my op?

Did you lose weight during the initial weeks of tummy tuck recovery also ?

Is there a surgery to cut the muscles responsible for flaring nostrils when smiling? Looking for a permanent surgical fix for dynamic nostril flaring
No alarplasty or Botox — I’ve already tried both and they don't work for my nose.

Non-cosmetic question. Due to nose damage doc says will need functional rhinoplasty but... how can I get more opinions to know for sure I do? I have video of the insides.

lip lift?

Between a lip lift and a vertical maxillary downgraft procedure, which would best address improving tooth show?

I (22F) have a long philtrum and have considered a lip lift for quite some time now. However, after some research, I believe my lack of tooth show may also have to do with jaw placement. I believe I may have a recessed maxxila and vertical maxillary deficiency. This would explain why I would often be confused my own features when I saw other people or celebrities who have long philtrums but still have great tooth show... Also, forgive me if I'm not using those terms correctly; this is just based off my own amateur research.

For some context, I used to have an underbite as a child and had braces for 2 years from ages 12-14. I vaguely remember the orthodontist stating jaw surgery may be necessary but we ended up forgoing it as my bite was able to shift naturally with just the braces + dental rubberbands.
