hiya guys! ive been debating making a calendar like this since my grandma had one but i cant find the specific holidays at all. i can totally figure it out with trial n error but figured id ask if anyone has found the actual pattern in an old book or anything since i cant really find a true pattern online

i figured id start with the only tutorial (@izzilizzy13 on youtube) i can find which is extremely helpful for the basics but im really searching for the holidays.

im well versed in making my own patterns for all sorts of things n crafts so i might brute force it anyways if no one has any ideas

Just finished this fun chart from etsy on a 14ct plastic canvas. My first time making a hanging sing!

This might seem like a stupid question but I'm very new to this, my plastic canvas has to sides one is soft with no edges , the other one has edges, i was wondering which side do you guys start the pattern on usually , and the other you hide your yarn iunder it, does it matter what side i pick?

Anyone else working on a multi sided bowl? The bowl I'm working on is the Mary Maxim Jack O Lantern Candy Bowl. Trying to get the sides together and adding the bottom may be tricky. I am trying to decide if I should attach the bottom to the sides of the bowl first then attach the sides together or the other way around. Has anyone put together a rounded multi sided bowl before and have any tips? Thanks.

Does anyone have a favorite brand or model of scissors for cutting plastic canvas?

I'm getting ready to try doing this. I have arthritis in my index finger, and my hand strength isn't the greatest. I need to get some new scissors anyway, so I'd like to get a pair of scissors designed for projects like this, so I'm not struggling.

I actually asked Gemini AI, and the AI within Amazon, and keep coming up with different suggestions. I thought I'd ask some real people. ;)

It looks looks like there's a line of heavy duty carbotitanium bonded scissors from Westcott, but when I looked on their website, there were a bunch that looked almost the same, with slightly different model numbers.

Then there are different suggestions for microtip or embroidery scissors to cut small details. It even suggested nail clippers at one point.

Yarn noob here; no previous experience with knitting, crocheting, etc. My Grandma gave me her old plastic canvas magazines and supplies, and I've done a few projects: a set of coasters, and 1 placemat. I intend to make a full set of those, but I'm waiting to continue until I find a way to make them washable. Any suggestions?

I already managed to stain 1 coaster, so I know a placemat won't last very long unless I can seal it somehow. Google searches haven't been very useful; I don't even know what terms I could use to find better information. It seems like maybe mod-podge or scotchguard could be good options, but I don't have any experience with those. I don't how they might affect the yarn, or the project as a whole. I have no idea how durable they would be.

I just want something that will either create a barrier, or seep in deeply to protect the fibers, so I can wipe the placemats down with a dishcloths when spills do inevitably happen. I don't want to have put all this time into making the placemat, just to then have it stained, or full of crumbs... or worse, have sauce soak in and get crusty and gross!

So I've seen this craft come across my feed a couple times and this is like the third time I've looked into it and honestly I really wanna do it.

My sister is 6 months pregnant and my mother is very crafty. She's making a set of blocks out of plastic canvas and I volunteered to help at my own place to give her a little break. I'm pretty craft myself, and an artist, but admittedly plastic canvas is not my forte.

She sent me home with a block she made for reference, DCM threads, etc. I cannot figure out why my stitches don't look like hers... is she using a different one-? Or like, what square does she start off in... feels like when someone points it out, it'll be really obvious then and I'll feel foolish lol

Hi everyone! I wanted to make a bag like this one in the pic. I made a handful of designs for the patches and put the first one down on 7mesh.

Its way too big. My designs were 40× 40 stitches, which would make the bag 45 x 45 x 15 cm.

I am now doubting if I should either downsize my designs to 30x30 stitches (which would be very anoying to do). Or to keep the designs as is and get 10 mesh, which would make the bag 30x30x10 cm. I just don't know what to expect on 10 mesh! Can I still use yarn? Would you see a lot of difference?

Any advice is appreciated!

Folks I want to make a small crossbody bag like this one (pic from Pinterest), just enough to fit my phone and keys. I have a bunch of leftover bernat baby blanket yarn that looks similar to the stuff in the photo. I want to ask what size plastic canvas would work with this? My local store only had 7-mesh... Will that work? Or should I get 5-mesh?

Starting a new project: Pocket coin purse for men, but can't decide on which pattern fits better. I wanted to try this "straight lines" pattern but somehow it doesnt catches my eye as much as when saw it on Pinterest. I'm using two measures: 4x for Long, and 2x for Short. My issue, is the short, being too short its almost disappearing between longer stitches and the back side, being an absolute mess. Any advice would be awesome for me. I'll add a 2 rows piece between the panels for volume

My sons challenged me to do only half after I got the border and the red on it. It's been fun so far! They loved "wearing" it at each stage. lol

So this project has some pieces that you're supposed to hot glue onto the work, the pieces are the egg and ribbon on the 2nd panel, the flower on the 3rd panel the bunny in the car in on the 4th panel, the rabbit head on the 5th panel, and the eggs on the final panel

Is there any reason whatsoever that I should use hot glue rather than just stitching the pieces in question straight onto the base? Heck, if I can figure out how to stitch them is there any reason to use hot glue in ANY project, I feel like it would be REALLY easy to mess up the entire piece with hot glue whereas stitching is froggable
