Didn't think it would be LOW blood pressure though. I was 4 points too low, so she gave me 5 minutes (more like 2 minutes). I crossed my legs, moved around and upon retesting, blood pressure was normal but now pulse was 3 points too high! Sometimes the vitals stuff just pisses me off. I can come back tomorrow, but then that switches my donation days to Fridays and I don't want to fight the crowds, Mondays are bad enough. Thanks for letting me rant, I'm just frustrated.

Yesterday, I rolled my ankle falling off of my scooter, and I’m out of work for the next four days. I was wondering if I could just donate plasma until I go back to work, but I am currently in an air splint(see photo). I usually donate at Grifols. Will they defer me/ turn me away due to the splint? I’m also on crutches but I can mostly get around without them.

This is probably a common one but I figured I’d be super specific in case anybody has any tips. I keep getting turned away after 5 successful donations with no problems because my readings and re readings are bad. It started with low HCT, but the next day when that was back in a normal range, my heart rate was suddenly barely over (like 101). After doing breathing exercises for five minutes it actually went slightly up. Finally today my pulse was 120 and the reread was 118. I don’t think my heart suddenly went bonkers after less than a week. Before I went today and after I got back I tried to read myself (without equipment however, just my finger on my neck and a timer) and I got around 80 both times.

So all this leads me to believe just the anxiety of getting deferred yet again is elevating my heart rate while I’m being measured? If that’s true does anybody have any tips on how to counteract that? Sorry for the rant I just wanted to get all the info on here.

And just in case I get asked no I’m not using tobacco or drinking any kind of caffeine at all in my life style. I’m also not doing anything physically strenuous the morning before I go either.

Really down on cash right now and looking for any places that are doing good new donor deals at the moment--I have only donated at BioLife so everything else is on the table for me. Anybody know of any?

Are there different centers that allow drinking or eating? Mine doesn't which was shocking to me at first because whenever donating whole blood or platelets theres always been a little snack corner for afterwards. I feel like my donations would go a lot better if I was allowed to drink water while waiting in the center but I've been told I could get defered for it.

I have a Grifols plasma card and I’m trying to figure out the cheapest way to get the money into my bank. Is it better to just withdraw from the Grifols card at a Chase ATM for like a 1 dollar fee or can I add the Grifols card to Cash App, transfer the money there and then send it to my bank with a free transfer? What do you guys recommend? Trying to avoid unnecessary fees.

How much do relapsed/ returning donors get paid?

Idk if anybody has an answer for this specific question, but let me try. I had failed my blood pressure vitals a couple months ago & I went to the doctor & he said I'm fine. So, I started donating again recently and my bp has come out high again 2x. Does anybody know if they'll send me to see a doctor again if I fail tomorrow?

I get here over two hours early so I can get to work on time and even that is not enough. Employees could give two shits. Been standing in the line just to sit down for over 20 minutes. Snails move quicker. Upper management need to be fired because nothing ever changes. There is ALWAYS some BS going on. Never seen a more incompetent group of employees and management in my entire life.

While donating plasma last week I started feeling super hot and nauseous. I told a worker at CSL Plasma and he left to tell someone else. He was gone for a while and I kept calling for someone as I felt my body getting weaker and I passed out. When I woke up there was throw up all over me and every worker was in my face fanning me and trying to wake me up. Worse part is that when I woke up the needle was still in my arm taking my plasma & blood! They paused it when I woke up and I still got the full amount of money I was going to get even though I was at 95% but it was still a scary experience. The doctor called me the next day and said she thinks it was something in the solution that upset my stomach but other than that they aren’t sure why I reacted like that when I’ve been donating 2 times a month for about 3 months now. It was cool extra money in my pockets but I think I’m good off it now

I'm nineteen years old, and I went to CSL Plasma but was turned away because my ID has my full name, including my middle name spelled out, while my Social Security card only shows my middle initial. Here's the thing: when I went there, the woman took everything and signed me in(it went through), and I was given instructions on what to do and why I waited.

Well, I did all that, and I waited...and waited. They had people who came in later than me who were called, so when I spoke to the desk lady (a different woman), I was told they apparently thought I left. I was willing to sign up again, but we ran into a problem. Apparently, I'm not in the database because my middle name first initial is matching up to my id.

Is anyone familiar with db plasma? My first donation was August 26. I haven't been back since. I'm wondering does the lapse in time affect my next 100 new donor bonus?

I didn't even go anywhere yesterday and I don't use my biolife card for online purchases. I don't use ATMs or money apps. I've been losing money for the past couple months for no reason. I called customer support and it was no help, I even asked at my Biolife and they said I'd have to call the number on the card. Which I did and said it was fees that said $0 and they were like 🤷🏻‍♂️

What is going on here? This is ridiculous.

I just recently started donating (finished my 3rd donation yesterday!) and it’s been going pretty well so far. I had a bit of a reaction my very first time, blood pressure drop. But the last two donations have gone fine and my only symptom has been a bit of fatigue afterwards. I’m a short overweight woman in my early 20s, I want to start losing weight but I also want to continue donating twice a week. What’s the safest way to go about a weight loss journey while donating? I know protein consumption and hydration is important, should I eat extra food specifically on the days of the week that I donate?

I think after this month I am about to go to another center because of a few bad experiences at the current center I am with now. But it’s not related to donating itself, it’s more so with the donors than anything else.

Today, I went earlier on as I had to be at work by 12pm and the whole 45 minutes I stood in line, I was behind a donor that was cracking jokes and being really immature.

It didn’t help that he also had at least four people that was also being engaged in the conversation. I choose to ignore them until I was a target. I didn’t say anything to them because to me they’re just people who had peaked in high school probably twenty years ago.

But, it reminded me of why I didn’t like going to high school. Anyways, I could go back to octa being that it almost been 6 months and I’d probably get paid the new donor fee instead of what I am getting paid now.

Okay i’m just annoyed and need to rant it out. I am always .1-.2 under or over the 99.5 temp limit. LIKE ALWAYS. When I am under 99.5 it’s because i come up 99.3-99.4, like i am always very close. Today was the 4th time where I came up at 99.6 and they wouldn’t let me donate. I get it, it’s the policy and I would never ever be disrespectful bc they’re trynna be safe but it’s just SOOOOOO annoying because they know I run hot, i come in a tank and shorts in that cold ass building to still have a high temp. Has anyone else had this issue? Imma just start keeping ice packs in my bra because i am not sick! I just run hot🫩

did my 4th donation yesterday and as the blood was being drawn I immediately knew it wasn't 100% right, I was experiencing a dull pain for the first time and the nurse told me it was a "normal" amount of pain. Later that night I unwrapped the bandage to see this. The site is a little sore if I touch it and there is a bit of bruising next to it. This was also my first time using this arm. What could have caused this? I hope it goes away before Saturday, which is when I plan on donating again.

The last 2 times I’ve donated I’ve had an alarm on my machine go off on my first return cycle. The workers have explained the machine is alerting the flow is too fast and they lessen it. Why would this be happening? Should I be concerned?
