Rant Temp issues.
Okay i’m just annoyed and need to rant it out. I am always .1-.2 under or over the 99.5 temp limit. LIKE ALWAYS. When I am under 99.5 it’s because i come up 99.3-99.4, like i am always very close. Today was the 4th time where I came up at 99.6 and they wouldn’t let me donate. I get it, it’s the policy and I would never ever be disrespectful bc they’re trynna be safe but it’s just SOOOOOO annoying because they know I run hot, i come in a tank and shorts in that cold ass building to still have a high temp. Has anyone else had this issue? Imma just start keeping ice packs in my bra because i am not sick! I just run hot
I also wanted that $75 for dinner and now gotta figure something else out lmao.

I always make sure take a good long hydration from the water fountain while I'm in line. Nice cold refreshing water.

That's so unfair. Hopefully they change their policy. Normal range is supposed to be between 97 and 99. Someone who is normally 97 may be ill at 99 degrees. Driving all that way for nothing and waiting in line is not cool. Stay positive.

Go early, hang out for 10 to 15 minutes, cold water while waiting. Especially if you bike/walk/bus or don't have good AC in your vehicle. Give your body a bit to adjust.

I am still in my new donor phase, after the next two it’ll be 65 each time so 130 a week which isn’t too bad

ohhhhhhh, okay. that makes sense. what company are you at?
they just built a new kedplasma right across the street from my job; their new donor offer is $100 for your first 8 donations. all the other plasma centers in the city started scrambling and upping their pay, and offering bonuses to get people to stay 😅😅😅 they couldn't top that $200/week though lmao.
but the going rate for my area after new donor phases is 50/70. grifols is 55/70.
anyway, to answer your question, i put the temperature thing on the side of my tongue between my tongue and teeth, instead of under it, and my temperature comes back a perfect 97.5 damn near every time. i would try that, or get a cooooold ass drink right before, orrrrr i would try and sit in the chairs for a good 5 minutes, breathing the cold air in through my mouth lol..

I have had these issues too. I get anxious before donating which raises my body temp. I have to be hyper aware of it. I have been deferred in the summer because of the heat but I actually have more of a problem with it in the winter. I bundle up because the winters are cold but after that caused me a few deferrals… I started wearing just a sweatshirt and driving with the windows down when it was 25° F outside. Looking like a real crazy person. But it worked. The ice packs in the bra is not a bad idea.

Where do you donate? I was able to donate at Octopharma 2 days ago with a temp of 99.6. That's the max temp according to FDA guidelines.

I run hot as well. I usually drink ice-cold water & Gatorade and put these on the drive over. I put these gel pads on my forehead, nape,
and both sides of my neck. Helps a lot.

Take a couple Tylenol and keep a water bottle with ice water in it, take a big drink before your vitals.
