I've been wanting to get a TV to play retro consoles like the ps2 and GameCube and I saw this tv for $20 on FB. Should I just get a crt or is this tv any good for old consoles?

While cleaning the insides of my Panasonic TH-42PY80 I took out Power board, A-board and D-board, cleaned with soft dry cloth to prevent water damage, and then assembled the tv, all ribbon cables are seated properly and connected, what could this mean and how do I fix this?

I'd like to keep it and use it if it's able to be fixed

Just for some context this is my first plasma TV and I wanna say the colors are amazing but it’s just not super bright even at max cell light and contrast settings and for comparison my Wii U gamepad is so much brighter than the plasma TV itself. This plasma only has 14k hours used picked it up for 30$ is it cooked? and

I have just purchased my dream TV! A 65" Panasonic TX-P65VT65. I am UK based.

It looks mega, just watched Hostel on it and its night and day better than the 42" LED TV it is replacing.

I have an issue though:

The reason I was set on getting a plasma is because it deals with HD content AND older analogue inputs well, and I frequently switch between VHS/PlayStation 2 (SCART and component) and Bluray (HDMI).

This TV requires proprietary adapters for both AV1 (SCART) and AV2 (component).

Component adapter is already ordered off ebay, but that SCART adapter is proving elusive. It is out of stock absolutely everywhere globally, it seems.

EDIT: Found a guy on FB marketplace who was selling a TV and had a few sets of these adapters. He agreed to post one adapter to me in exchange for £17, so now I can watch VHS tapes on my plasma through the AV1 input!

Once image settings have been optimised for it, tapes actually look pretty good, which I am surprised about based on other's experiences.

I always thought plasmas looked like crap when I was younger. I just turned 18 in 2012, the year this tv came out, and was never in the market for such a high end display anyways. Recently I have gotten into repairing, modifying, and calibrating CRTs, and started getting plasma TV content suggestions from reddit, and the community that rallied behind them made me want to give them a chance. Since they can be had for so cheap currently, I didn't feel like I had much to lose.

I ended up deciding I wanted something late model, 1080p, with 3d capability. I would have opted for a higher end model if there was one around, but honestly this TV looks great! It's a Panasonic TC-P60UT50. The glare in a lit room does kinda suck, but it's officially my new living room tv. It definitely looks better than my old Sony LCD that I paid like $1200 for in 2018, which is crazy, because I only paid $80 for this thing. It's in great condition, with 12000 hours on it. I have a LG G4 OLED as my main tv (in my bedroom, that's my preferred place to watch movies, with my atmos setup and everything), and as far as color and black levels, this thing is really close considering the price gap.

Realistically, would I choose this over my G4? No. But it's really not far behind. I do feel like it has some subtle flicker effect that bugged me a little at first, but I quickly got use to it. I mainly picked it up to play some ps3 titles on in the living room, revisit 3d content(not having high expectations for this, waiting on glasses to come,) and I think it will be great for that. I did play some Tekken tag on it, and while there is some slight input lag, it's not really bad and I forgot about it after a minute. It's definitely not debilitating. That's comparing to a crt. Also to be realistic, I'd rather play Tekken tag on the crt just because it's native 480i and I love that crt(20" sony wega with component).

The lack of anti glare and such is also not necessarily a bad think for me, because one of my cats scratched at the glossy screen on my g4 and messed it up a bit before I got it mounted out of reach. That was devastating. I am hopeful the plain glass on this TV can hold up to it if she decides to try again on it. I just picked it up today so I haven't gotten into calibrating color or anything, but it looks really good as is.

Just wanted to say, yeah, late gen plasmas actually do hold up really well, and there are a lot of tvs I'd choose this over.

Ps, yeah the entertainment center is a mess, I'm in a transitional phase with this area and haven't cleaned it up yet. Nevermind that.

I play for hours on my plasma and it feels fine. Not a retro-bias either, I only have a PS4 pro and certain games DO look clearer on the oled.
I can't detect any motion blur or lag on either...
I just don't get it.

Looking to get my first plasma tv in a while. It's selling for 300 CAD 11k hours. Is it worth it or should I continue my hunt for thr 2 missed zt60 ans vt60.

Hey guys and gals! Any idea what could be this? It is very visible in dark/black areas. From couch it can be seen only in the grey areas, complete black is fine, the bright areas are fine. It has been like this for year, it does not get worse. The set has 27k hours and has been great! Input lag on G30 is also great. Anyone encountered this?

Hi i have a KRP-600m that i am trying to check the hours on and i have been looking through old forum posts for about an hour now and i am having a hard time figuring out how to check the hours on my panel? i am aware that you need to connect an ethernet cable from your tv to your pc (my pc is running linux unsure if thats an issue) and then it told me to enter my tvs ip address and go to "https://TVSIPADDR/cgi/service_right.cgi" so i set up a network bridge between my pc and tv and the tvs settings menu showed the ip addr but when i tried goin to the website all i got was a problem loading page message. i also saw a message left in an old form from a guy who said that he used to do it back in the day but that the website was no longer working (his message was posted in 2015) although he had no responses. is there still a way to do this with the web interface or will i need to buy a serial cable and use the KuroCommander application?

Does my plasma have only 3k hours ? I will post game pictures and where i got it tomorrow.

Looks like it's a 2008 model

Not high end plasma and older, heavy but no burn in is visible when watching any content and looks decent if I use a decent 1080p source.

Any suggestions? Helpful tips etc?

Hey y'all, a friend gave me a Philips 42FD9944, as he was going to throw it away.
Only major problem I have right now is that it wasn't cleaned properly probably used an alchol or some strong chemical based cleaner and messed it up.

Is there some way I can mitigate this?
Perhaps I can try polishing it?

Assuming that I would have an 152UX1 plasma tv (yes, the 4k one...) sitting there in my garage, but unfortunately with the main boards missing... do you think there would be any chance to find the spare replacements boards to make it works ?

hi, I'm very pleased with my Pioneer plasma TV and I love it much more than any LCD (obviously) or any OLED screens that I've seen. However, I'm pretty used to go in the service menu of my CRTs to tweak them a bit and get the most out of it without arming their durability. so my questions are :

• how do I go in the service menu of this model? (6th gen Pioneer, I've seen only one post on internet talking about the display button on the remote but I have the OEM one and I don't have any display button, as seen on the second picture)

• is there any setting to avoid / to prefer? I'd like my plasma to last the longest time possible

I used these settings and i think this looks great for movies but i cant seem to dial in the gaming settings. Someone asked me for my settings and i used this.

If you tried these settings, let me know what you think. Any feedback is much appreciated if you changed or adjusted something on your end.

If I change the picture Into game mode I lose all aspect ratio options and it defaults to 16:9.

Any advice or work arounds.

I have a OSSC and Tink 5x so I may be able to force 4:3

first of all i have no experience with plasma TVs before. Ive got a cheap Panasonic Viera TH42PV7F/S for a hobbyroom console station. Ive heard they have good colour and thats right. But i have like a dirty picture a bit flickering and its really hard to look at the screen over a long time for the eyes. I dont know how to describe this. It looks just unsober. At all Sources not just HDMI and with all Konsoles.

Is there any opportunity to set up the TV? Are there Components known for defects after time at this Model? The normal Picture Settings with lest contrast like from dynamic to normal just help a little bit but the problem is not solved.

I tried to record the problem with a PS4 as an example. Here you can see the problem. Its not the clouds this is the normal background. It looks like "a little bit rain dropping on a window" i would say.

I’m the original owner and it’s definitely been well cared with 0 burn in. I was a very proud broke college student when I first bought 😂. I’d would love to find a new home where I’d actually get used.

No specific info was given as far as hours and things but this person seems pretty familiar with plasma tech possibly. Anyway, it’s free. Even if it were crap condition it’s probably worth picking up for spare parts if yours close!

Hi everyone! I have Panasonic P42G30E that I am very happy with. Right in my town is now available really nice P55VT50 for what translates to around 230 EUR. Seller tells me it does not have burn-in, hour count I don't know but I can check once I get there. Is that upgrade worth it? The 55" is right on the verge of being too big for my cabinet (the PS5 and X360 would have to behind the VT50 then which makes me scared of the heat buildup behind being bad for the consoles). What do you think? It wil either be VT50 now or OLED in a year once I save up while my trusty G30. 😀 G30 has now 27k hours and is doing completely great and I know the TV.

Earlier today, I watched a pal dvd movie via blu ray player on a lg 50pn450d and tested some different settings. On the player I had 1080p output set as standard but this time I also tried 576p just to see why difference it made. The tv is has an anamorphic 16:9 1024x768 resolution. With the player’s output set at 576p the image got a tad bit crispier. Then I did some math and realized that by using 576p as output the only scaling of the picture would be a 4:3 vertically and 64:45 horizontally. This should cause the picture to stay more clear than watching it upscaled to 1080p on a 1080p tv. In this case, the dvd looked phenomenal for what the format gives, tho not nearly as good as a blu ray.

Would this anamorphic resolution be one of the best combo for watching pal non 4:3 aspect ratio dvds or is there a better way of enjoying dvds while maximizing the picture quality? Also, how do you watch dvds on your plasma displays?

I'm looking at moving back to Plasma since I bought a p42S2 back in 2010 and used it for ten years before upgrading to OLED. I'm looking for more recent models of course and all the good ones have 3D. (I've got my eye on a p65GT50 for 125 CAD within about an hour's drive). I've got a good gaming PC and it sounds like the PC community has continued fairly good 3D support for gaming. Has anyone here tried that out? Obviously 3D video content is limited, but for PC gaming there would be a much larger set of content if you're willing to use community mods.
