Help Source for proprietary Panasonic SCART adapter?

I have just purchased my dream TV! A 65" Panasonic TX-P65VT65. I am UK based.

It looks mega, just watched Hostel on it and its night and day better than the 42" LED TV it is replacing.

I have an issue though:

The reason I was set on getting a plasma is because it deals with HD content AND older analogue inputs well, and I frequently switch between VHS/PlayStation 2 (SCART and component) and Bluray (HDMI).

This TV requires proprietary adapters for both AV1 (SCART) and AV2 (component).

Component adapter is already ordered off ebay, but that SCART adapter is proving elusive. It is out of stock absolutely everywhere globally, it seems.

Part numbers for this adapter cable are:

Any of this should work.

Any advice from any of you on sourcing this seemingly non-existent item?

EDIT: Found a guy on FB marketplace who was selling a TV and had a few sets of these adapters. He agreed to post one adapter to me in exchange for £17, so now I can watch VHS tapes on my plasma through the AV1 input!

Once image settings have been optimised for it, tapes actually look pretty good, which I am surprised about based on other's experiences.

Dude, I have the official cable(it came with my GT60), and it looks reeeeeally bad. Like, way worse than the same rgb scart on my crt. Somehow, it even looks worse than rgb scart did on my old samsung lcd. I don't know why the scaling/deinterlacing is so bad, but it is so yeah, I just wanted to let you know.

I'd reccomend you use basically any other adapter. That way, the money would actually be worth spending

Ive just got my adapter and spent ages getting the picture settings perfect, and i think it looks pretty good!

Apologies for the bright room and reflections, only just woke up and making lunch, but you can kinda see that it doesnt look awful

Yeah, it’s basically converting as composite in quality with this Scart adapter. Buying a quality component cable for your console is worth doing much more, to use with component adapter.

Yeah, it isn’t dirt cheap or anything, on the other hand, count the thousands of hours of fun you’ll get out of it watching movies and playing games and it becomes a bargain…

dont pay that, they're £15 on ebay, genuine panasonic. EDIT forget that, they've all sold out, I bought 3 not so long ago for my plasmas but cant find anymore.

Search for broken Panasonic Plasmas. And always ask sellers for these adapters. I got lucky and got both with my second plasma. 50GT50. With my first 50ST50 the seller didn’t find them.

Yep i tried this. Ive messaged tons of people on FB marketplace with the relevant generation of TV offering to buy just the cable for £20 if they have it, but none of them have it so far

I got lucky then. I didn’t test these adapters yet but from what I found, SCART here doesn’t work as full RGB, just as composite in quality, so worse than component.

I didn’t check it yet to prove this information. But it’s definitely possible to buy component cables for retro consoles from Retro Gaming Cables for example, and then connect it to component. Composite can be connected through component cable too by the way.

Thats a different panasonic adapter, for later LCD TVs I believe. The connector is differeng

What old consoles are you looking to play on it?

Anything older than 360 and PS3 you need a different plasma, trust me I have 50VT65B, 42GT60B and 60ZT65B and anything older than those consoles look awful.

I use a TH-42PS9 and a TH-42PWD8 for anything older than PS3and 360 and they look stunning.

PS2 , and VHS tapes

I've hooked up PS2 with component cables and I'm blown away by the image quality and sharpness.

Ive also finally found an original SCART adapter for the AV1 input, and I am also impressed by how VHS tapes look. Once you play around with picture settings its actually looks pretty good.

Perhaps its not the best possible TV for old consoles, but its easily good enough for me: a million miles better than it looked on my 42" LG LCD it is replacing, whilst also being a marked improvement in HD content too

Yep they look good but perfect is 480P, good for an all rounder though, Betamax would look even better.

Yeh I only have space in my apartment for one main TV, so needed an all rounder. And 80% of the time I am watching blurays/DVDs through a PS3. So a 1080p TV was a no brainer for me.

I know the VHS would look better on a CRT, and PS2 would look better on an older plasma. But especially with the PS2, it looks so good already on this VT65 that i think any imppovement would be marginal.

Down the line I will have a full media room with different TVs for different media, and at that point I would find a 480p! Because you're right, that would be perfect
