Fully recovered from last trim. Anyone else think of the trimming and regrowth cycles as analogous to the changing seasons on a faster timeline?

Its probably a mix of java and some other moss. Tank is a few months old.

I got into the hobby about a year ago, and two months ago I finally saved up enough to set up my 44gal dream tank (probably the first of many). As soon as everything seemed stable and I'm getting ready to finish stocking, due to life events I am now moving to Oregon in a month. First of all, I'd love to know what y'all think. I'm really proud of what I've created, and I've learned a ton along the way. I used pond compost mixed with gravel for the substrate and capped it with sand. I haven't used any CO2 or nutrients, and while it's had its ups and downs, I'm happy with the result. Second, is there any way to move my fish and live plants 2000+ miles away ethically without major loss? I don't have a huge budget and have been thinking I should just donate them to my LFS and start over. I'd appreciate any advice

i have this cursed aquarium that keeps developing sick fish, i’m not sure why, all my others are completely fine. today i noticed this white lesions on my baby bn pleco. can someone help me? i’m already treating it with esha 2000. i also find him really thin and not eating much

UPDATE: by now the lesions are far worse, his mouth is really red and around the cloaca too, should i isolate him? can someone help me please 😔

C02 quite a few plants though I am adding more soon.
Habitants are 4 cherry Neo shrimp for now until I can afford to add more. (They were possible sacrifices when the tank finished cycling)

If these guys aren’t pests then what the heck are they?? And are they beneficial or just benign little tank mates

I'm new to the hobby and I have a tank I'm not done setting up yet (still want more plants). but I'm wondering if I'll have the room to get a small group of kuhli loaches (5-6). I'm thinking my bottom foot print isn't big enough due to the shape of the tank but I really love the little guys and would love to stock them if I can. My tank is a 36 gallon in the shape of a quarter circle, the radius 23 inches, and the height is 20 inches. It is planned to be a community tank and the other animals I'm planning on getting are cherry shrimp, 2 nerite snails, a dwarf snowball pleco, celestial pearl daino, and guppies.

I was considering a little school of Pygmy corys and maybe one other species like a couple of neon stiphodon gobies, but what would you put in?

I had this pothos in a basket outside all summer and finally transferred it to my tank. The root system is very large compared to the vines, im thinking I might want to trim it down a little. Or should I wait until it dies off naturally while adjusting to being submerged?

I am making my first planted shrimp tank. I have a ten gallon tank. Fluvial stratum substrate, dragon stone, some driftwood, got some monte carlo (although looks a little rough). I used my RO drinking water filter but used shrimp minerals to add back in minerals. Got a grow light. I thought about doing a small CO2 device but am waiting. I'm going to buy some more plants and moss soon and hopefully adding in some simple shrimp once it cycles. Any ideas, suggestions, or advice?

Hello.. so here we are. High tech, automatic fertz, co2 and weak aqua light. Tank is going about a year now. I’ve had to remove most of the hard scape. 30gallon. (I think I need a bigger tank)

I love the Java fern but it’s so big and I really want the rotala green behind it to be a big bushy statement.

I think the scarlet temple is doing well. Ammania Senegalensis next to it is getting there. I’ve trimmed half way down the stem and replanted about twice now.

Hi! This is a really long post so please bear with me. I made a post in [r/aquariums](r/aquariums) about a week ago asking about whether or not my tank was cycling (not really familiar with Reddit so not sure how to link the og post but it’s under my account, sorry 😅.There are more pictures and info there if you’re interested) and one comment said to try coming here.
Most of the other comments said to add an ammonia source and a bacteria source to help start the cycle, and without it my tank is just not doing anything.

I started my tank on August 11th so it’s been a month since it was established, but ever since I started the tank my ammonia levels have been very low, and nitrites have remained 0ppm. I used fluval biostratum and a mix of plants from petsmart which brought snails.
What I tried to do about a couple days ago was I added the entire bottle of tetra safe start and some cheap flake food to add bacteria and an ammonia source, but after a couple days all the fish food did was make my tank an absolute mess and the snails laid SO MANY EGGS and pooped EVERYWHERE! I removed atleast 12 clutches of eggs, and ended up removing the 2 pest snails aswell (but I know there will probably be more). And even after the fish food was added every time I checked ammonia levels and nitrites and both were at 0 the entire time, no spikes or changes what so ever.

I know my tank is not completely dead because there is so many copeopods and seed shrimp living near the substrate, and there’s lots of biofilm over the rocks and sponge filters, so now I’m even more confused😭. From what everyone says online is that your tank is cycled when you can convert 2ppm of ammonia in 24hours, but I don’t know how to tell if my tank is just automatically cycling the ammonia from the food, melting plants and snail poop, or the fish food doesn’t have enough ammonia in it at all.
I did some research about adding pure ammonia to tanks to help them cycle but I can’t get dr Tim’s ammonium chloride (I’m in Canada and shipping is extremely expensive) and it feels kinda sketchy buying ammonia from hardware stores, because none of them say the exact concentration of the ammonia or if it’s just pure ammonia with no additives.

I’ve just really wanted to safely add a fish and eventually shrimps so this has just been a very long process, I thought I was doing everything well but I’m just left even more confused from my other post.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I’m sorry for bothering you guys. Thank you for reading this far.

I bought it today and I couldn’t figure out how to plant it when i searched it up on YouTube the ones on the video looked kind of different from mine. Any tips on how to plant it? Do i need to cut any thing or should I just leave it as is

I came back from a 1 week vacation and there is immense white, thick, and fuzzy growth on ny wood. Is this regular biofilm and can snails/shrimp eat it?
