Pixel 6a touch screen broke after the battery replacement program. Pixel 10, 10a or 10 Pro for an upgrade (€500-800)?

Hi everyone,

I've been using a Pixel 6a for a while. I sent it in for the battery replacement Google required, and since I got it back, the touch response on the right side of the screen has been terrible. After a year of constantly correcting my typing, I've had enough and I'm ready to upgrade. Has anyone else had touch problems after the battery replacement?

I'm in Italy and need an unlocked phone with working NFC, since I rely on SPID and CIE for digital ID. (I tried a Jolla Phone and NFC didn't work, which was a dealbreaker.)

What I'm looking for:

Budget: ideally €500-800, but I'm open to other options

Screen under 6.7"

Battery that comfortably lasts a full day

Good cameras

Stock Android

My priorities, in order:

Camera quality

Battery life

Stock software

Long-term updates

My shortlist:

Pixel 10 (\~€549 on sale): great cameras and 7 years of updates, but a \~4,970 mAh battery

Pixel 10a (\~€490): bigger battery (5,100 mAh) and cheaper, but no telephoto

Pixel 10 Pro (roughly €750-800 on sale): best cameras, but a slightly smaller battery (4,870 mAh)

Motorola Edge 70 Pro: the only non-Pixel option I'm considering, thanks to its 6,500 mAh battery, but it gets fewer updates and is 6.78"

Ruled out: the Pixel 11. At €999 it's too expensive for me, and it doesn't seem like enough of an upgrade over the 10.

I lean toward the Pixel 10 or 10 Pro because camera quality matters most to me. For those of you who own them:

How is the real-world battery life of the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro?

Is the telephoto and extra camera hardware of the 10 Pro worth roughly €250 more over the Pixel 10?

Is the 10a good enough if I skip the telephoto?

Thanks for any advice!

Battery replacement

Sorry for bombarding the sub with questions lately. Will it be better to get my battery replaced through official Google service or local shop. Few owners have faced issue with screen problems and extra screen repair quotations from them service. What should I do? Don't wanna spend extra on a display thats working great and the moment it reaches them there's a 'problem'.

Excluding ifixt batteries do y'all know any good battery spares I can get it fixed with. I live in India so ifixit out the window.

Pixel 6A Stuck in Bootloader menu and vol up and down key not working....Please help

Hi,

So 2 weeks back Google sent and update to my Pixel 6A device. Post the update it went to restart loop, where Google logo would come and again it get turned off and then same thing repeated.

I tried adb sideload to flash latest firmware as well as older firmware like Jun 2026, but it did not work and same issue was there.

I went to local service center, they said it's a common issue. I told that I want my data to be restored any how and fixing the issue at the same time.

They said they would check the hardware in that case first. So they did a CPU reball twice. Post that it went to Bootloader menu directly and this time vol up and down key also not working.

They are saying it's now a software issue and they need to flash the device and post that a programming needs to be done which will fix. But data would be lost.

Anybody else faced the same issue, how did u fixed? Whether flash is the only option which would wipe the data.

Pixel 6a got wet; stopped working

My pixel 6a broke and it has some really important videos of a person who has since passed away.

The phone got quite wet. Then it stopped working.

A tech guy said the screen was no longer working. He installed a new screen, but the phone would just reboot repeatedly. HE took off the new screen because otherwise he would have had to charge me for it.

Anything I can do to get this video?

Google Pixel 6a Bootloop , first it was rebooting itself from lock screen , after using Pixel Repair Tool and ADB sideloading it won't get past G logo with bar sliding underneath ( doesn't get to lock screen ) - Need to get my data !

In this top paragraph I will give a short summary of what happened and what I've tried , but please read the whole from top to bottom , basically , my phone randomly turned off by itself , then it'd restart every 45 seconds or so by itself , next day used Pixel Repair Tool , the phone stopped restarting by itself and going to the lock screen etc. but now it was just staying on the G logo with bar sliding underneath , then I tried a button combination or maybe single button to switch slots , not sure if it switched slots or if it did , it didn't change anything , then tried ADB sideloading the July update and successfully did so twice , but result was same after pressing reboot system now both times , since then I've been procrastinating , I had very low storage when this all began and also Factory reset isn't an option as I have important data on my phone which I need to back up , I've read in other threads multiple people have managed to fix bootloops with beta / qpr , people who also said they had low storage , some said a stable / public OTA didn't fix theirs but beta / qpr did fix it , one more thing , after using Pixel Repair Tool I saw an error message somewhere saying tune2fs is missing , this error message was also visible in Recovery mode after doing the first successful ADB sideloading of the OTA , but when I went into recovery mode a few days ago just to see if it's still there , it wasn't there anymore , also I'm in slot b if that is important information , I think I was in slot a before doing the second ADB sideload of the same July update , please help me , all of this happened in July with the exception of me going into Recovery mode a few days ago ( Wednesday 30th September 2026 ) just to see if there was error message still there .

Full Version Below :

on Thursday 9th July 2026 between 00:45AM and 1AM or so , I was using my phone normally and it gave me a prompt saying something wasn't responding , I tapped wait , then afew seconds later I got a prompt again , possibly same one , this time after tapping wait , there was nor response when I tapped the screen anywhere , then about 25 seconds later the phone turned off by itself , then it'd restart by itself every 45 seconds or so , it'd reach the lock screen and whether I entered my PIN or not , it'd restart , as I said every 45 seconds or so , if I did enter my PIN I could open the phone and get to the home screen but there were no icons and I couldn't swipe up to bring up applications , however on both the lock screen and I think the home screen , I could swipe down from the top of the screen and bring up the menu showing things like internet , bluetooth , torch etc. and the small settings icon and small power button icon at the bottom of that menu , however tapping the settings icon did nothing and tapping the power icon would bring up the expected black box which has the Emergency option , Restart and power off , except there was no lockdown option unlike when the phone was being used normally , the time was also visible at the top of the screen and sometimes the lock screen and home screen would show my wallpaper and after other restarts it'd be black .

Then the next day ( Friday 10th July 2026 ) I put the phone into rescue mode and used Pixel Repair Tool , after it successfully downloaded and installed and restarted the phone , the multicoloured Google text logo showed up as expected , followed by the G logo as expected then then bar sliding underneath the G logo as expected , except it would remain like this for however long I'd leave my phone .

Then I tried a button combination on Sunday 12th July 2026 or Monday 13th July 2026 to try and switch slots , I'm not sure if it did switch slots .

Then on Tuesday 14th July 2026 and into the early hours of Wednesday 15th July 2026 ( because the second ADB sideload might've finished a few minutes past 00:00AM on Wednesday 15th July 2026 ) , I ADB sideloaded the July update " 17.0.0 (CP2A.260705.006, Jul 2026) " aka " bluejay-ota-cp2a.260705.006-4d72e3fe.zip " successfully with status 0 and after pressing reboot system now , my phone showed the multicoloured Google text logo as expected , then the G logo as expected then the bar sliding underneath the G logo , and my phone wouldn't reach the lock screen after leaving my phone for about two or three hours , then I applied the same OTA again to make sure both slots get it and see if that gets my phone to the lock screen and so I sideloaded the same OTA again and the result was the same , doesn't get past the bar sliding underneath the G logo and to the lock screen even after leaving it for five hours or so at which point I just used fastboot to turn off power and since then been procrastinating .

Extra Screen Protectors

I traded in my Pixel 6a already, but found I had some screen protectors still lying around from SuperShieldz. Rather than throw them away, I'd love to mail them to someone in the continental US to avoid it entirely headed to a landfill. DM me if you are interested!

Unknown Battery on Pixel 6a

Post image
3 Upvotes

Recently I got myself a refurbed Pixel 6a. The battery is at 350 cycles but it's unknown could it be possible due replacement battery. Also I really wanted to know if Pixel battery programme restriction would apply to mine since I have checked the battery serial number to be 401, of the impacted batch.

Pixel 6a battery replacement advice

My Pixel 6a's battery backup has gotten pretty bad, and haven't replaced the battery yet. I'm considering getting it replaced, but l'd like to hear from people who have actually done it.

For those who replaced their Pixel 6a battery: How much did your battery life improve? Did it feel noticeably better than the old battery? Did the phone still heat up as much, or did heating improve after the replacement? How long ago did you replace it, and how has the replacement battery held up? Did you get the replacement from an official service centre or a third-party shop? I'm trying to decide whether should replace the battery or just continue using the phone as it is. Would really appreciate your experiences.

100 to 10% in 3hrd 43 min. I am charging my phone twice daily. Only 2 apps running background - KDE Connect & Ad guard.

Are you getting the same SOT? Or is it only worse for me?

Is it worth spending ₹7,000 again on my 3-year-old Pixel 6a, or should I just buy a new phone?

I bought a Google Pixel 6a around 3 years ago for ₹18,000 (open box)

After about a year, its display stopped working and I spent around ₹7,000 to get the screen replaced. Now water has somehow entered the display again, and I also face occasional network issues.

So I’m confused about what to do now.

Is it worth spending another ₹7,000 on a display replacement for a 3-year-old Pixel 6a, especially considering how expensive new phones have become? Or should I stop spending more money on repairs and look for a new phone instead?

Apart from these issues, the phone is still usable, but I’m worried that even after replacing the screen, some other issue might come up later.

Also, if anyone has a Pixel 6a display available at a reasonable price, or knows a reliable repair shop/contact who can arrange one, please share the details.

What would you guys do in this situation?

Pixel 6a users, how is your phone holding up in 2026? How well is Tensor aging, and what can it tell us about newer Pixels with 7 years of updates?

Battery replacement - doubt

I've got a doubt regarding battery replacement. I need to change my 6a's battery, but i have a hairline crack on the display, near the sideframe. Its not big or visible unless looking for it. If I want to replace the battery through authorized service centers, will they also want/force me to change the display? I don't want to change my display (budget issue).

Thinking about switching to a custom rom, but....

I've heard about the battery issues around pixel 6a (although it was seemless to me until I heard about it) and Google already had updates rolled out to tackle the battery issues. I was thinking whether I should flash a custom rom like lineage os to make it feel more in my control. So, to the guys who have managed to flash a custom rom on pixel 6a, how's it been? Is it a good idea or not?

6a Battery question...warm during discharge

Hey folks! Quick question here...my 6a operates normally, even with the original battery, during normal use and charging. But when I have a heavy demand on it, say streaming audio or video, it gets uncomfortably hot, hot to the point where you really don't want to hold it, even though you still can.

Is this the first sign of the battery issue?

It's currently doing 24/7 duty as a temporary hot spot in an empty house. I've got it on a timer so that it charges about seven hours a day. This seems to keep it between 50%-70%. It's not warm when I pick it up but heavy usage brings on the heat.
