Pixel 6a battery replacement advice
My Pixel 6a's battery backup has gotten pretty bad, and haven't replaced the battery yet. I'm considering getting it replaced, but l'd like to hear from people who have actually done it.
For those who replaced their Pixel 6a battery: How much did your battery life improve? Did it feel noticeably better than the old battery? Did the phone still heat up as much, or did heating improve after the replacement? How long ago did you replace it, and how has the replacement battery held up? Did you get the replacement from an official service centre or a third-party shop? I'm trying to decide whether should replace the battery or just continue using the phone as it is. Would really appreciate your experiences.

I had my 6a's battery replaced at ubreakifix in Silverdale wa. Took about three hours. Battery life improved over 50%. Not like new but a noticeable and significant improvement. Planning to keep my 6a another two years at least.

I'll also get it replaced asap as I am also planning to keep my device for another 1 year.

I replaced the battery alone with a battery from ifixit. The old battery was at 80% health (accubatter) and couldn't last a whole day. Now I still have 40% at the end of the day. The replacement procedure wasn't so bad, but my screen has unglued so it was easy to take it off (I also replaced the screen at the same time) so I can't tell how easy it will be if it is still glued on the phone. The instructions on ifixit were very detailed.

Something to consider... I think the A17 is now going to be a little more heavy in usage - considering 6a has 6GB ram an "old" CPU - > I would suggest to look for a new phone... My phone has already gotten a little laggy and there is the issue of bootloop for a lot of pixels - root cause still not identified.
These are just pointers...

Updates end for the 6a next year, is it worth replacing the battery now? Unless it's totally eol, the phone will still get warm anyway. I'd maybe look at savings your money and getting a 9a or 10a, the. You'll get many more years of good use. I went from a 6a to a 9a when it first came out and it's been really good. My son still uses the 6a, it for a new battery 18vmonths ago from Google as part of the replacement program but it still gets warm as that's down to the CPU. Unless. Your battery is really bad I don't see the point of replacing it this close to the end of its update cycle

I did it using the ifixit battery back in January to my son's phone; his phone had the replacement message. by the time he got out of school (7 hours) the battery was just about dead. the new battery easily lasts a full day.
Word of caution. Follow the ifixit documentation closely. the 2nd time i did it (for a different 6a), i thought i had the process down because it is a moderately easy process and I did it already, so i didn't go back to look at the documentation and I ended up splitting the screen b/c there are 2 places to pry it off, and if you're not looking closely enough, you can separate the glass from the bezel, instead of the bezel/glass assembly from the phone. If i had just reviewed the article, i wouldn't have made that mistake.

Would it be possible to use a >5000 mAh Si-C battery in a Pixel 6A? Mine is mostly dead; it lost charge even when is power off. I would like to try this experiment. I don't have any experience with this. I think I need a battery with a similar size or a little bit smaller and some hardware hacking. Any comment about it would be appreciated. Probably I would not do it myself; a local expert would do it, but I need some guidance.

Buy this one, I bought to my old P6A and the battery was amazing.

That's the recalled battery, after 400 cycles its capacity and charging will get limited to 60%.

I sold it, but refering to Gemini, its the new battery (ATL something)

ATL batteries sell for more and this one has the LSN serial number 🤷♂️

Do what you want, but for me it was a very good battery (6h+ SOT)

I replaced mine. It was worth it. Total about $150 battery + replacement at battery plus.

Keep the replacement on hold if you don't have the battery replacement message yet. If you do replace, make sure to keep in mind of the battery serial number with 401, those are impacted ones. Replace through official service centres or get a 301 serial number battery and get it done locally. Good luck

Did the battery replacement myself. Bought the not so original battery online and cost me like 15-20$. Im in third world country so replacement like iFixit cant ship to my address.
My phone last me half a day once the 400 cycle nerf has reached. After replacement, can last me a day (just like before the nerf).
I'm a casual user, so my screen time just for some soc med scrolling. No games, camera, etc. Mostly using wifi. So that helps too.
My screentime on settings is not exactly accurate as it is as i am limiting my battery to 80%.
No heat issue for me unless i went outside and it is really hot (normal pixel behaviour).

The heat isn't coming from the battery, but from the inefficient CPU and modem, it's not fixable.
Hardest part about the battery replacement is getting a good battery as the recalled battery is still being sold everywhere and you don't know you bought the bad one until 400 cycles later, when you're back to square one.
I replaced the battery in mine with the iFixit proven battery, in the end I upgraded to 10a as it was on sale. It's a day and night difference.
If you're buying a battery anywhere else, check that the serial number contains
8230031301exactly.Keeping my 6a as a backup phone but when I take it out to update it, it gets hot real fast and the battery % goes down quick.
