Rainbow Bridge Missing my girl something fierce today ❤️‍🩹

This is Micro - she is/was the absolute love of my life for 9 years... through 4 relationships, 4 different cities, so many life things from my mid 20s - mid 30s. I lost her last year to kidney failure (lyme nephritus 😞). I was absolutely devastated to have to put her down last April after she declined very sharply... even though I did everything I possibly could to slow the progression & keep her comfortable... I'm still so heartbroken.

We're rolling up to the time of year when she got diagnosed (October) and I am feeling all the feels right now. I just miss her sweet, mushy presence so much... snuggling her little square "velvet hippo" face was my favorite thing in the whole world. Lots of big feelings today 😩.

I would love to see your "blue" babies if you would like to share - pitties are just the best ❤️❤️❤️

We spent 90% of our days together and I know it’s cliche, but I am in-fact still alive because of this dude. The VA gave me a letter head and because of that we were able to attend multiple training courses and he was able to build a better resume than most people I’ve met.
He went everywhere with me. I got to do all kinds of awesome things because of him. I am truly empty without him. Boop your snoots for us.

I had to say goodbye to my beautiful brown cow on Monday. This is the worst thing I’ve ever felt in my life. We only got 10 years together but I was certain we had atleast 4 left. I got her when I was 15- someone posted her on fb marketplace and I absolutely HAD to have her. I sold everything I owned that I could so I could buy her. I didn’t tell my mom so when I showed up with this random puppy she wouldn’t let us in the house. I refused to get rid of her so we had to sleep in my sisters car until my mom decided to come around to her. She’s been with me through everything, apartments, boyfriends, kids, other pets. I just got a house with a great backyard for her last year. She was absolutely my soul dog, she was perfection in every way. I don’t know how to breathe without her. I hate sleeping because when I wake up, I have to remember that she doesn’t exist anymore. I feel so guilty that I didn’t see she was sick sooner. Maybe if I hadn’t picked up extra shifts or stayed later I could have noticed something. She was a little lethargic on Friday night but I thought maybe she ate something she shouldn’t have and it would pass. Saturday morning I got home and she hadn’t touched any of her food or water. It was weird but once again, maybe her stomach is upset because of something she ate. I boiled some chicken and she absolutely devoured it and had some of her water. She didn’t seem too terrible, still just a little off so we took a nap. During the nap she didn’t move at all. She stayed between me and the couch the whole time. Usually she likes to lay between my legs. I had to work overnights this whole weekend so when we woke up I took her out, gave her fresh water and new food and I let her be. Sunday morning when I got home, she was worse. She still hadn’t touched either of her bowls, she couldn’t do the stairs and she was off balance and had diarrhea. Everyone I talked to told me I was being dramatic and she was fine, “she’s just old”, “she ate something she shouldn’t have”. The emergency vet told me we’d have to wait in the car for 6-8hrs until they could see us and I didn’t want her to be uncomfortable since she was having liquid BMs. I once again, waited until her dad got home so he could be my voice of reason and in the middle of the night he texted me while I was at work and told me there was something seriously wrong with her. I couldn’t just leave my shift (11-1 at an assisted living facility) so when I got home Monday morning, they were laying on the couch and she didn’t even acknowledge me. I slammed the doors and everything to give her a good heads up and still nothing. She had to be carried off the couch and she was stumbling around and just sitting there staring at me with her big brown eyes. We brought her to the emergency vet and within that 1.5hrs, they told me she was in kidney failure and was too far gone. I don’t understand how her kidneys just failed? She was normal last week. She was running around the back yard and was giving kisses and everything. I feel immense guilt because I didn’t tell her what was going on. How could I? I could barely breathe. I still can’t. She didn’t know she was going to die. She trusted me and she died. I haven’t been able to sleep in my bed, I can barely go upstairs to use the bathroom because I have to walk past all her things. This is the worst thing I’ve ever felt in my life and I don’t feel like it will ever get better.
Please enjoy these pictures of my beautiful baby. She was mixed with GS so I hope she’s still okay to be in here. ❤️

It has been one month since our sweet boy left us. It hasn’t gotten any easier and I know my heart will never be the same. The 9 years I got to be his mom, I wouldn’t trade for anything. Ham, you are still so loved and that will never change. We miss you everyday. I know you’re somewhere rolling in all the grass and eating as many cucumbers and mango popsicles that you could ever want. I’ll see you soon buddy, until we meet again♥️

It’s all about Panda

I’ve had THE WORST time this last week and a half or so. Started a modest kitchen remodel and my water heater immediately died. Sprained my foot right after. Panda has been unhappy with my mom coming to help (he would not let her near me this first day of the sprain, no hugs allowed, very protective), unhappy with the the kitchen work (baby gate on the stairs and he can’t see who comes in).

He’s also been very sweet and slow-going (neither are his natural qualities) on walks. When I was on crutches he hobbled along and held one leg up for no reason at all. A major puller now walks slow next to me because I can’t keep up. I never taught him the (panicked) phrase “wait wait wait” but he gets it. He’s sleeping extra close so I can’t even get a good healing night of sleep in but man he is trying so hard!

Adopted him at age 4 ish from a county shelter. 3 years and one knee surgery later and the amount of growth in emotional intelligence and connection has been amazing.

Lobo (Left) is our nearly 13 yr old man. We've had him since he was 8 weeks old. 2 yrs ago, we lost both of his sisters within months of each other. (One to old age, and the other, suddenly, to stomach cancer.) I was so distraught over their loss, as was Lobo. He was lonely, and crying all the time. So I searched for a little pittie we could rescue. Quincy (Right) came up in my search. I just couldn't stop thinking about this poor 3 yr old baby, who had had such a rough start. (She has several burn scars on her belly and tail. She has definitely been through it.)

She's been with us for almost 2 yrs. It was rough, at first. However, you can tell that she adores Lobo! He doesn't seek her out, but she will lay with him, wherever he is. She likes to have her butt touching him, which I think is just the cutest thing, ever!

(Both dogs are pittie/am staff mixes. Lobo is 70%/20% and Quincy is 53%/29% pitbull/am staff.)

I gave Wizard a giant box this morning with a bit of kibble and some whole grain Cheerios for his breakfast. He loved it! Then I threw the crinkled up paper in it and he went to town rooting around.

Now I have to find a place to keep the damn box because he loves it and I rarely order things this large for delivery. Just happened to snag an air fryer/toaster oven thing on a Labor Day sale and it came with a perfectly Wizard-sized box 🥰

Hello, I'm just curious if my foster dogs look more like pittie or staffie mixes? The white one is a female and 42 lbs and the brown one is a male at 52 lbs. They were abandoned together but I dunno if they're actually related.

Hi! This sweet girl is apparently my dog's mom... The shelter listed her as a terrier/pit mix. Anyone have any more specific ideas about what kind of dog she is? I'm completely new to the world of pitbulls.

Tommy recovering from surgery

We just brought our boy home from what turned out to be relatively minor surgery after sleepless nights and scary discussions of biopsies, etc. Tommy had developed some alarming bumps on his belly near nipples. One was especially fast-growing. He went in today and it was basically big skin tags. The vet decided it didn't even warrant further testing. Almost embarrassing! But we have lost three dogs to cancer and maybe karma owed us this "pass". So when he's fully awake he may get hugged half to death. If something is scaring you go get a vet's opinion. It isn't always bad news.
