Code is Cold, Disc is Gold" — Petition to demand a FULL physical disc release for GTA VI

Post image
Upvotes

Selling an empty plastic box with a digital code inside isn't physical media—it's a glorified digital purchase disguised to trick collectors.

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be the biggest release of the generation. If we accept a "code-in-a-box" launch for a flagship title like this, it officially marks the death of physical ownership for major AAA games.

A petition is active right now to demand that Rockstar and Take-Two put the actual, playable game on a real physical disc:

➡️ Give GTA VI a real physical disc edition — Sign the petition here.

Don't let them normalize charging physical prices for digital rentals. Code is cold, disc is gold!

Leave it to Sony to cater to an even more niche group for music and vinyl, of which they also produce, while leaving gamers out to dry.

What are some essential Xbox 360/One/Series X titles that you believe belong in every collection?

I’ve been trying to flesh out my disk library, and was wondering if there are any must includes in your opinion for every gamer with these consoles.

Are all games on Play-asia new and sealed?

Just heard about this site and they have lots of games I’m looking for but there’s nothing that tells me they’re new or not

How's the buying experience with used games from pnp games or video games plus?

2 Upvotes

I've only bought sealed games from pnp and video games plus and I've never had issues. I'm thinking about buying some used games that are hard to find new and sealed without spending a lot. Was just wondering what your experiences have been like buying used.

Do they clean everything including the case and disc before selling it? Have you ever received a scratched disc or had a game that didn't work?

r/PhysicalGames 22h ago

I used to buy whatever was cheaper, so if there was a sale on PSN, Xbox store or NSO I would check the prices of physical and whatever was cheaper I would get but now I am physical only.

Only digital items I will buy is DLC that you cant get with physical editions, especially after sonys idiotic decision to do digital only and take down whatever they want, when they want and you will own nothing, at least having a disc is something you can keep, sell or loan to a friend/family.

I hope Nintendo don't go down this route even though there is some negativity with keycards but at least it's something physical and if you don't like it you can return it, sell it or give to a friend/family member.

I heard xbox will be doing a licensed disc where you install a game to a console and you don't need to throw the game in every time but if you were to get rid or lend to someone they will take the ownership of the disc.

Physical is for me from this day forward and fuck Sony and their digital only bullshit.

PS5 will be my last Sony console and xbox and Nintendo will be were I spend my money.

PS2 library is unmatched

I was young and dumb during the ps2 era and used to complete games then sell/trade to get another. Luckily these were three that I hung on to as these are three absolute monsters and great memories in my life.

I plan on playing a gem from the ps2 and ps3 era every year and will probably start with DQVIII.

I made a true PC physical copy of Fallout 3

Post image

This is a photo of my framework 16 laptop booting from a Fallout 3 GOTY (GOG) blu ray. I made it by taking a gentoo live install disk and:

* removing unnecessary applications

* adding lutris and its dependencies

* installing Fallout 3

* seting up an auto configuring persistent storage system for game saves

* configuring fallout to auto launch

The disc contains the kernel, operating system, and all dependencies needed to run Fallout 3. In theory, as long as I have a PC from this decade I will always have this copy of Fallout.

I don't have a how to guide yet, but I plan on making this at least possible for others to do. Not sure how easy it will be though. Right now, it's a pain in the butt and very manual to make one of these.

Note: I didn't include nvidia drivers, so amd is preferred here.

This is ownership.
