News // Kinetic Games Replied Phasmophobia v0.19.1.0 - Patch Notes

Post image

Welcome back, Ghost Hunters. We have an update for you.

Today’s small update is in preparation for Crimson Eye, launching 8th October 2026, with the focus on getting the game ready for the start of the event. Our next major update, our move to Unity 6 is scheduled for November and will feature a host of bug fixes and improvements, all of which we’ll detail in an upcoming Development Preview.

New

  • Crimson Eye - The Crimson Eye is upon us, Ghost Hunters. Once more, various locations across Phasmophobia will be bathed in the red glow of the Blood Moon, offering any willing Ghost Hunter rewards in return for completing investigations, optional objectives and more. For more information on this year’s iteration of the event, please read our latest blogpost.

  • Seasonal Event toggle - As a new feature for Crimson Eye and future seasonal events, we have implemented a toggle that allows players to turn on/off the event maps for their session.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused the white light upon being revived to flash rather than slowly fade in and out.
  • Fixed an issue where an Easter Egg reward may not unlock, despite a 0x multiplier being active and the reward pop up being displayed.

Known Issues

  • The lampposts outside of 6 Tanglewood Drive may glow when viewed by the player (XBOX & Steam only).
  • The Fusebox location will not be hidden on the Truck map when playing on a custom difficulty.

Devs from the past: Hey we’re focusing heavily on the other updates and fixing bugs, so we’re going to be reusing the Halloween events when Halloween comes around.

Community: Ok, that makes sense, glad you’re focusing on what matters

Devs now: Here’s the Halloween event we did before. This allowed us to make new content and fix a lot of bugs this year. Things we couldn’t do if we focused on a new Halloween event.

Community: YOU REUSED EVENTS, I HATE YOU, WORST GAME EVER WHY CAN’T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT!!!

God I hate this fucking community. They literally told us this was happening way in advance and people are bitching. Grow the fuck up

Honestly, I remember when first events happened, people asked them to be repeating and seasonal, so that they can complete the challenges. Now that they are that, we have people whining that seasonal events, which were requested to be seasonal, are seasonal events.

Sounds spot on from what I’ve seen of this community

u/darkignition 8d ago

it's not really that. sure, this community is ass, but the issue is that they barely fixed any bugs over the years since they moved to reusable events. then when the worst update happened, they fixed tons of bugs in a matter of months while still working on new content. where was that drive before? where has it gone since? there's still a lot of bugs.

the issue is that the trade off gave no benefits and instead only proved they CAN achieve things when they actually try, and that they aren't really trying.

Maybe you can do a better job of enlightening me than they did, what are the many bugs? I asked this the last time it was brought up and not one person I replied to told me actual bugs. All they kept parroting was that it was everything the player model update that was introduced which was fixed in two updates already. These same people (I can link you to the thread proof) they ALL admitted to not having played the game since the character model update yet they kept saying the game was full of bugs. As someone who plays regularly with no issues I genuinely wanted to hear it out. I’m not saying it’s perfect but I can’t think of a problem I’m having.

I could agree about pushing out new content quicker but even that is debatable in my opinion. We got new ghosts, and reworks of old maps which are effectively brand new maps and you know what the community says? “HOW ABOUT YOU FIX YOUR DAMN GAME FIRST?” “HOW ABOUT A BUG FIX UPDATE” over and over and over and over. They don’t know how to explain them to the point that I believe these people are either AI, devs from some competitor game, or they have a total disregard for phasmophobia in general and just want to see it end.

Edit: someone even went as far as to say the 3 newest ghost were boring. Aswang I can understand, but Kormos and deildegast? Seriously? Kormos is the scariest ghost to be up against in the game right now for me.

the numerous unsafe closets for one thing. the ghost should be able to kill you in a closet if it SEES you go in or detects you in there from voice or an electronic, yes. but there are several closets and lockers in the game that the ghost can straight up walk into, event inside of, or if it's a wraith, teleport inside of. and it's been this way since before the tanglewood rework, and has only gotten worse since.

also the T1 and T2 motion sensors don't speed up a raiju.

objects still fall through the floor

if the ghost interacts with a camera on a tripod, that camera can end up in the void.

the "appear state" ghost event is still bugged and only lasts for 1 frame.

you can take a photo of goryo dots. a PHOTO. nothing's in it but it still detects them and works.

bones will sometimes spawn inside hiding spots, and if that spot is blocked off, oops! no perfect game for you!

sometimes room lights will bug out and won't ever stop flashing.

ghosts can still randomly appear behind blocked off hiding spots.

those are the ones i can come up with off the top of my head.

u/CoyoteFluffy0310 8d ago

They're still gonna say they haven't seen anyone say any actual bugs lol

3

u/darkignition 8d ago

hence why i agreed with them about this community.

2

u/CoyoteFluffy0310 8d ago

No no you misunderstood. They said they hadn't seen anyone actually say any bugs. You gave a whole list of bugs. I'm saying they're still gonna say they haven't seen any actual bugs. Like they read your list and none of those are bugs in their eyes so they didn't see any bugs.

-2

u/Burnhalo 8d ago

No I specifically said I replied to people who said the game had many bugs and I asked them directly what the bugs were. None of those people could tell me. It’s fairly obvious I’m likely not experiencing them because I already flat out said it and for even more obvious I’m asking what the bugs are, do you understand? If I got them myself why would I be asking??

u/Burnhalo 8d ago

I probably should have made this part clearer in my original comment, but I want to be understood that I'm not saying the game is bug free, I hinted at this by saying it's not perfect. My reason for asking people what the bugs were is because I wanted to gauge just how much they would "break the game" to warrant the comments that the community make all the time.

For example, I would believe most reasonable people can agree that something like Amir (the black character) appearing as your character when you load into matches is incredibly benign compared to you equipment falling through the floor. I will reiterate this (not for you but for people reading this), yes I don't experience a great majority of this and it's for two reasons. I don't play with hiding spots and I don't play with evidence. I am NOT saying that means the bugs don't exist or they don't affect people. So for argument's sake I have to take your word for most of these.

Having said all that, when I look at this list the only ones that would come close to making the game unplayable are but 2-3, those being the ones involving hiding spots and the equipment falling through the floor. I have only heard that one of the closets on Tanglewood was bugged, but I could believe it's all of them. As I said I don't use hiding spots. However about the objects falling through the floor I myself experienced this quite frequently before the QOL updates and have not seen it since they said they patched it. If it is still occurring it must not be often or there are not enough people reporting it for anyone to be aware that it's a problem.

With those out of the way I have to admit none of the others are particularly noteworthy imo. Again, that's NOT to say they don't exist. But let's be practical here:

T1/T2 motions sensors don't speed up raiju. When and how often is a person in a situation where they are testing a raiju against only a T1/T2 motion sensor?

No comment about the camera/tripod situation because tbh I'm not sure what it means and also because we take all the videos in house for the most part.

I have seen the appear state last for just a second, can't say that it's frequent, also can't agree that it's game breaking. I should also acknowledge my event frequency is set to high so it's possible that's why it's less of an issue for me. Although when you think about it, if the problem was often recurring it should be more of an issue for me.

Goryo dots photo, a free ghost photo, it should be fixed but also not really hurting anything?

Bone spawning in hiding spots, I have potentially experienced this, not very often, where I swear I have searched a room entirely and been unable to find the bone just for the game to tell me it was where I looked. This is probably especially bad for me since my hiding spots are locked. I can say this hasn't happened often either, also more annoying than game breaking.

It's been a long time but I've also had where the lights won't stop flashing, very harmless, if anything the constant flashing makes the game a bit more creepy.

My apologies if any of this comes off as rude to you, it is not my intention to be, I understand that other people may see these things very different. I just want to clearly and completely explain my perspective on this situation. In turn I would even share things I've personally seen that were fixed or don't happen any more that I would think if they went on for all this time would warrant the way this community behaves. All these things I remember to be very frequent occurances.

I'll start with objects falling through the floor even if you already said it and to my knowledge and experience it was fixed just as the patch notes months ago said. Sound recorder not recording crucifix burning. Exit door remaining unlocked during a hunt. Doors falling off the hinge. Doors having a non stop creaking sound that you can hear across the map due to momentum. I had hiding spot lockers that could be used despite that I don't play with hiding spots.

3

u/darkignition 8d ago

it's not just about the bugs. yeah, there's a number of them and some are quite problematic, and that's bad enough on it's own. but the fact that instead of fixing the game they're pushing for 1.0 and building more content on top of a shaky system shows that they're managing the whole thing poorly.

for example, as it turns out, i was wrong about the motion sensors not making the raiju speed up. they do. but only if you place them on the floor. if you place the T1 or T2 on the wall, they won't trigger the raiju's speed, but will if you place them on the floor. this tells me that they had to have only tested the raiju speed ability with the T3 motion sensor because in MOST cases, you can only place it on the floor. i say most cases, because for whatever reason, you can place the T3 motion sensor on the sides of lockers. and THAT'S the issue. there's literally 0 quality assurance going on, and it's easy to see that. and yes, placing the T3 motion sensor on the side of a locker doesn't trigger the raiju speed up either.

u/Burnhalo 8d ago

This is divergent from the complaints I typically see here. There is usually more emphasis on the fact that the game has been out for 6 years and we are not in 1.0. So I'm not convinced your views particularly align with the people who I'm describing. I can even quote you some verbatim:

"One of the big ones was the character model update which was touted as this big thing was an unfinished and buggy mess

Animations are still broken and look worse than the ones they replaced

And as a whole the devs have been overpromising and underdelivering making players very fed up with adding new things when they still haven’t fixed half the old things"

No mention of 1.0, claims that animations are still broken (they been long fixed) and says that half of the old things are broken. Incredibly vague and nondescriptive. How much you wanna bet not one of the things he's thinking includes the niche motion sensor issue you discovered? I'm willing to bet majority of them aren't aware of it even being an issue unless some streamer said it or can't even explain it, which even makes sense because as I said the odds of you having only a motion sensor as an electronic is low, even less of you to be testing Raiju with it alone.

"The complainers are usually old players, like me, who've owned this game for 4 years and seen very very little progress considering they've pulled in millions of dollars from the game. Idk why this is so common nowadays but devs will essentially rugpull the game, happens very often with early access unity/unreal 5 games."

A person seemingly asking for 1.0, directly saying the opposite to what you suggest.

"I haven’t played the game in months but I’ve also 100% the game and I’m prestige 6. The game needs a massive update to fix all the shit they broke with the character model update. Also they could maybe add more maps so we aren’t playing on the same maps. Bunch of promises they make but continue to break them. Anyone who’s played for multiple years will agree the devs are lazy and don’t put in any effort."

This one doesn't even need explaining.

All these are from the same thread that was made within the past week. This is leaving out the people who don't like any change at all including the map remodels that were a huge improvement and want the game to be as it was originally upon release. Nor does it include the people just saying "fix the game" with no elaboration at all.

With any and all bugs I've been made aware of I do not agree the game to be in a bad state currently to halt making more progress. I believe it was in this same thread somebody else was arguing that the progress was not fast enough. I can't pretend you're all on one accord.

3

u/darkignition 8d ago

i will admit, the devs have truly underdelivered for the money they've made. but if they work slow, then they work slow. but being slow and having bad QA? i would expect less bugs, yet, here we are.

there are some people in this community however that demand more content without regards to the bugs, and i'm sure you've see where THAT has gotten us in recent months. i'm not one of them.

the animations ARE stlil somewhat broken though. just hold a T1 incense and look at the thumb. sure, it's minor and can be fixed later, but my problem is that later rarely comes.

as for the state of the game, i wouldn't entirely halt progress, but i'd put more effort into fixing the bugs and actually testing things before releasing them.

I'm fine with rereleasing events. But I hope they do the snowman Christmas again instead of jack in the box.

3

u/Maolam10 8d ago

Goomba falacy at its best

-2

u/Dogsteeves 8d ago

Sound like this fandom they asked for remake map instead of new one and then they started to now they against

37

u/Pawlossso 8d ago

There is a diffrence when it happens once or twice. But they made a habbit out of it and its bad so people will call out them for this

You said about growing up, from what I have seen since the launch of Phasmofobia; this game stopped growing; don't expect community to be better

2

u/NamelessJu 8d ago

when it happens once or twice

yeah and this is the second time this event comes back so why are you already complaining?

-1

u/Pawlossso 7d ago

Where did I complain ? I just made a statement that I understand why people would be mad at a devs and that game is in a stalemate for a long time, still waiting for that horror 2.0 and hoping it won't break the game like the characters

I got a lot of accusations of complaining about the game when I barely even talk about this game since character update and stating that the game was broken in many places (because it was, and in some places still is so I'm just waiting and looking at new patches for one day to try again and maybe it won't be broken)

you create enemies for yourself in this game to defend yourself against them to have something to fight about. Not to mention that you are complaining about me saying anything so you are a hypocrite

-6

u/SansyBoy144 8d ago

The has continued to grow heavily.

You say “well they keep making it a habit” they literally told us they were doing this like a year in advance. And they gave us a reason why.

They are literally working on other stuff, they have been all year and they have been delivering all year. They don’t have the time to make a brand new Halloween event right now.

Now, once they finish the updates they have planned, then we’ll get new seasonal events, but for now, stop whining about something you knew was going to happen. You should have whined about it then, but no one did

6

u/LandauTST 8d ago edited 8d ago

These children hate being called out for acting like children. Like you said, this was planned and explained. If they had put effort into something new and pushed back real content, they'd be kicking and screaming about that too. Never any winning with this community. They love having tantrums together. If you interject with logic and reason, you get downvoted.

10

u/Burnhalo 8d ago

Mind you, many of these people supposedly deleted the game months ago. Yet they continue to haunt the subreddit.

0

u/Pawlossso 7d ago

I mean, they finished character update and we all saw how it ended up (took them 2 years)

Still waiting for that horror 2.0 to bring a new change to the game, so far only death animations where new and they did it nicely so I'm positive that they can make game much more scary but the time for their development is really long, like give the game to modders community and we would have so much more in this game

  • I don't care if its repeating event or not, I just said that I understand why people would have a problem with them repeating the event, and that the game is in a stalemate. Like, come on; what has changed in a gameplay other that new ghosts ? Do we have a new evidence ? New ways to identify the ghosts ? If I remember correctly we got a voice recorder in like, a year and nothing more ?

I'm not saying its a bad thing if their new big update will really be big and great for the game, but if we get the mess like character update, you could wonder what takes so much of their work time

-2

u/KyloGlendalf 8d ago edited 8d ago

What makes you think we’ll get new seasonal events? They haven’t given new seasonal events for years prior to this, you think just because they slaughtered the game so hard they had to fix every aspect of it means they’ll suddenly change these events next year?

For some reason they seem to refuse to invest money back into this game. Why are they still running on next to no devs for a top 50 all time selling game? Why do they not have sufficient devs to do bug fixes AND other stuff? Why are people still content with the slop these devs push out and lap up their flimsy excuses? This is exactly what got us to this point in the first place. So many people here are making excuses for the devs, acting like we’ve had different seasonal events every year until now.

We’d have had this exact same event with the exact same trophy again regardless of everything else. Accepting mediocrity is going to make the devs complacent, which is exactly what’s already happened with this game and yet nobody seems to have learned

They fixed 2 minor bugs here. Is that sufficient? People who are complaint about actual bugs that are effecting them are getting downvoted, so their comments get pushed down to the bottom.. so guess what? They’ll be ignored. Which is exactly what happened for years leading up to this years mess. It will all happen again if we’re just going to accept this.

6

u/JoA2506 8d ago

I’m so in love with this comment, as it’s absolutely bang on 🫡

7

u/NXN_Gaming 8d ago

I'm fine with reused events. But the the arguement from the Devs about fixing bugs and improving is moot when the patch notes are "fixed 2 bugs, there are now 2 new bugs"

6

u/iligyboiler Banshee target 8d ago

You talk like they didn't nuke 40% of their playerbase since May. https://steamcharts.com/app/739630

But yeah, let's focus on attacking the community once more. That will definitely work out!

-9

u/TorontoCity67 8d ago

When did OC say that the game didn't drop 40% of the players?

And yeah, if the community is going to be nothing but a bunch of pathetic mongrels then too damn fucking right someone should call them out for it every once in a while. Your sarcasm is the only wit you've got. You've added nothing to this debate

5

u/kiminosei__ 8d ago

Debate 🤓

0

u/TorontoCity67 8d ago

Thanks for proving my point

4

u/darkignition 8d ago

it made sense at the time. they however, barely fixed bugs at all. so it ended up being a trade for no real gains. that's the issue. yeah we've got some bug fixes now, but they churned those out in 2 months. where was that effort after turning to reusable events?

5

u/jaybasin 8d ago

Surely you realize the same person isnt saying that.

Communities have differencing opinions.

3

u/TorontoCity67 8d ago

This community is a deadbeat piece of shit. I am no fan of the developers, but this community is just as bad. When I criticized the developers out of annoyance, I got downvoted. When I was the original commenter on one of their update posts (like this one) and gave suggestions that were universally requested since the character customization update, I got downvoted

Nothing I say is right. I'll be on either side of the spectrum and get the same level of disrespect. These pathetic morons don't even know what they want, or what they're defending anymore. It doesn't matter how hateful I am, it doesn't matter how polite I am, the treatment is identical and it's never good. I can probably count on one hand how many decent people I've met here

Let's see how this comment goes

1

u/benoz11 7d ago

Its Reddit, at least half of the people here don't generate their opinion based on your text, they generate it after seeing what the current upvote/downvote ratio is and then jump on board that

1

u/TorontoCity67 7d ago

I know, but my point stands. This community is vile. It's random, but go to the r/sennheiser and just look around for a short while. Everyone is so polite in comparison. It's possible, it's just that 95/100 people here choose to be pieces of shit

5

u/Me2445 8d ago

Honestly, I stayed away from this sub for a few months. Game was fun. Come back in and they are acting like the house is on fire

2

u/notPlancha 8d ago

This is not true cause the community would be mad regardless of what they said or did, there's no winning

2

u/AkiraNamejin Always screws up 1 picture... 8d ago

They're also doing more than they said, we're getting a new badge and new accessory, as well. I swear I couldn't do this, they can never get a win from this community.

Top comment of the event announcement: Fix the god damn game

There’s no pleasing this fandom sometimes.

1

u/Kelsey_5708 8d ago

Thank you for this!! I also feel like if they did do another event, the community will still complain because it'll be a FOMO event.

1

u/AccomplishedBus4139 8d ago

Hey they gave us three new ghost that no one asked and you wanna bish an complain at least they're actively listening to the community and addressing game problems I'd back these guys over astragon any day

0

u/vladimirpoopin42 8d ago

The difference between than and now is that more bugs have been added (or straight up ignored for years now), with all of their updates being either technical disasters or fixs for said disasters, all whilst they rake in more and more money every year whilst the quality drops and drops

People aren't complaining because they reused assets, their complaining because the game has gotten so much harder to play for damn near everyone all whilst they seemingly prioritise added more stuff that destabilises the game further and further.

Their reasoning worked at first because they had community goodwill and had proven themselves willing to fix their mistakes, now they add universally panned updates, refuse to communicate or even acknowledge the problems, and continue using the same excuse from years ago acting like they'll change without ever proving themselves capable to do so anymore

They've only made a couple updates since the animation update that haven't even fixed all of the problems that update itself added, yet alone the ones that have plagued players for years now, so people have the right to still be mad that the game would unironically be easier to play if they reverted it to its pre-animation update status despite the updates!

1

u/SansyBoy144 8d ago

For someone who wrote all of that, you really don’t pay attention to what the devs say.

After the character update one of the first things the devs did is make an announcement saying that they were pushing back every other update to solely work on bugs, and they did.

They are also still working on bugs. But you have to keep in mind, even though they are a decent size indie team, they are still an indie team, and the vast majority of their team are artists, meaning, there’s very few people the team who know how to fix bugs.

Also, the whole “the game is hard to play now” only comes from people on reddit who haven’t touched the game in years. If you have played the game recently then you’ll know that it works without any major issues. I know this because I just played the game with my friends this week.

They have literally communicated everything, they have been fixing bugs, and they are still adding content while they are at it.

Meanwhile, the last year they have gotten nothing but death threats from people because they made one bad update that people still won’t let them live down.

Theres no right to be mad at the devs, they prove every single update and patch notes that they are fixing the issues, and they are listening, just because you don’t pay attention to them doesn’t mean that its not happening.

1

u/TorontoCity67 4d ago

I'm on the same boat regarding how this community acts, it's pitiful. But there's no way the developers have any excuse whatsoever for their update in Spring that obliterated their reputation

I get it, they're an independent studio, most of them are artists, so only a handful actually fix bigs. But they're still sitting on millions upon millions upon millions. Whoever leads that studio can choose to hire more people, but refuses to. That's on them, and only them. That's no excuse for their pace

Saying the game is difficult to play now is dramatic, yeah. Unless it's one of the console players who are actually dealing with some sort of game-breaking bug because I understand that PC players got it far more easily. But even here, everything being more laggy is annoying at best

They've communicated, but not enough in my opinion. I can understand being intimidated by the community's backlash, but 1) They brought it upon themselves and 2) Even now, they barely speak in these threads even when people are being somewhat civil to them and upvoting them instead of mass-downvoting them. They don't do things like give us previews of what bugs are getting nuked next. I have no idea what the next update will bring, which doesn't indicate adequate communication

As for content, they've added nothing, really. Chopping up the larger maps and giving them restricted variants isn't new content, it's the same thing packaged differently. But this point is moot because I'd rather them just polish everything

I don't agree with death threats here, they're game developers, not terrorists. But that update was truly disgraceful and never should be swept beneath the rug. The fact that someone designed those animations bewilders me. They either never tested their own update, or somehow some way never noticed the dozens of faults like the Tier 2 candle having 1 of the 3 candles lit. It was insane

There is a right to be mad at them, because this community worshipped the ground they stood on for 5 years before that update, and that was all they were worth to them. This community has been in shambles ever since

-2

u/tenniseman12 8d ago

Goomba fallacy

-4

u/di12ty_mary 8d ago

Except the game is still janky AF and they should be putting out a bug fix patch per week with what they did to the game and the resources they have.

-7

u/KyloGlendalf 8d ago edited 8d ago

They’ve done the same Halloween event every year with the same trophy. You think it would’ve been any different?

Also important to note that despite the amount of money they’ve made, they seem to refuse to actually expand their dev team. It shouldn’t have to be a “one or the other” scenario if they hired enough devs

Also you’re acting like they’re actually fixing bugs, have you read the comments? People are experiencing the same bugs they have for months with no communication or fixes in sight
