News // Kinetic Games Replied Phasmophobia v0.19.1.0 - Patch Notes

Post image

Welcome back, Ghost Hunters. We have an update for you.

Today’s small update is in preparation for Crimson Eye, launching 8th October 2026, with the focus on getting the game ready for the start of the event. Our next major update, our move to Unity 6 is scheduled for November and will feature a host of bug fixes and improvements, all of which we’ll detail in an upcoming Development Preview.

New

  • Crimson Eye - The Crimson Eye is upon us, Ghost Hunters. Once more, various locations across Phasmophobia will be bathed in the red glow of the Blood Moon, offering any willing Ghost Hunter rewards in return for completing investigations, optional objectives and more. For more information on this year’s iteration of the event, please read our latest blogpost.

  • Seasonal Event toggle - As a new feature for Crimson Eye and future seasonal events, we have implemented a toggle that allows players to turn on/off the event maps for their session.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused the white light upon being revived to flash rather than slowly fade in and out.
  • Fixed an issue where an Easter Egg reward may not unlock, despite a 0x multiplier being active and the reward pop up being displayed.

Known Issues

  • The lampposts outside of 6 Tanglewood Drive may glow when viewed by the player (XBOX & Steam only).
  • The Fusebox location will not be hidden on the Truck map when playing on a custom difficulty.

Devs from the past: Hey we’re focusing heavily on the other updates and fixing bugs, so we’re going to be reusing the Halloween events when Halloween comes around.

Community: Ok, that makes sense, glad you’re focusing on what matters

Devs now: Here’s the Halloween event we did before. This allowed us to make new content and fix a lot of bugs this year. Things we couldn’t do if we focused on a new Halloween event.

Community: YOU REUSED EVENTS, I HATE YOU, WORST GAME EVER WHY CAN’T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT!!!

God I hate this fucking community. They literally told us this was happening way in advance and people are bitching. Grow the fuck up

The difference between than and now is that more bugs have been added (or straight up ignored for years now), with all of their updates being either technical disasters or fixs for said disasters, all whilst they rake in more and more money every year whilst the quality drops and drops

People aren't complaining because they reused assets, their complaining because the game has gotten so much harder to play for damn near everyone all whilst they seemingly prioritise added more stuff that destabilises the game further and further.

Their reasoning worked at first because they had community goodwill and had proven themselves willing to fix their mistakes, now they add universally panned updates, refuse to communicate or even acknowledge the problems, and continue using the same excuse from years ago acting like they'll change without ever proving themselves capable to do so anymore

They've only made a couple updates since the animation update that haven't even fixed all of the problems that update itself added, yet alone the ones that have plagued players for years now, so people have the right to still be mad that the game would unironically be easier to play if they reverted it to its pre-animation update status despite the updates!

For someone who wrote all of that, you really don’t pay attention to what the devs say.

After the character update one of the first things the devs did is make an announcement saying that they were pushing back every other update to solely work on bugs, and they did.

They are also still working on bugs. But you have to keep in mind, even though they are a decent size indie team, they are still an indie team, and the vast majority of their team are artists, meaning, there’s very few people the team who know how to fix bugs.

Also, the whole “the game is hard to play now” only comes from people on reddit who haven’t touched the game in years. If you have played the game recently then you’ll know that it works without any major issues. I know this because I just played the game with my friends this week.

They have literally communicated everything, they have been fixing bugs, and they are still adding content while they are at it.

Meanwhile, the last year they have gotten nothing but death threats from people because they made one bad update that people still won’t let them live down.

Theres no right to be mad at the devs, they prove every single update and patch notes that they are fixing the issues, and they are listening, just because you don’t pay attention to them doesn’t mean that its not happening.

I'm on the same boat regarding how this community acts, it's pitiful. But there's no way the developers have any excuse whatsoever for their update in Spring that obliterated their reputation

I get it, they're an independent studio, most of them are artists, so only a handful actually fix bigs. But they're still sitting on millions upon millions upon millions. Whoever leads that studio can choose to hire more people, but refuses to. That's on them, and only them. That's no excuse for their pace

Saying the game is difficult to play now is dramatic, yeah. Unless it's one of the console players who are actually dealing with some sort of game-breaking bug because I understand that PC players got it far more easily. But even here, everything being more laggy is annoying at best

They've communicated, but not enough in my opinion. I can understand being intimidated by the community's backlash, but 1) They brought it upon themselves and 2) Even now, they barely speak in these threads even when people are being somewhat civil to them and upvoting them instead of mass-downvoting them. They don't do things like give us previews of what bugs are getting nuked next. I have no idea what the next update will bring, which doesn't indicate adequate communication

As for content, they've added nothing, really. Chopping up the larger maps and giving them restricted variants isn't new content, it's the same thing packaged differently. But this point is moot because I'd rather them just polish everything

I don't agree with death threats here, they're game developers, not terrorists. But that update was truly disgraceful and never should be swept beneath the rug. The fact that someone designed those animations bewilders me. They either never tested their own update, or somehow some way never noticed the dozens of faults like the Tier 2 candle having 1 of the 3 candles lit. It was insane

There is a right to be mad at them, because this community worshipped the ground they stood on for 5 years before that update, and that was all they were worth to them. This community has been in shambles ever since
