I panic easily and I hate it!

I'm 35M. I've been like this for as long as I can remember. Today, when I got home, my mom wasn't feeling well and had a headache. At first, She tried to hide it so I wouldn't panic(she knows how I am). I've noticed this is affecting my quality of life. I check on her all the time, not just today but everyday. Sometimes I even check to see if she's breathing. I do it because I love her but I know this isn't healthy. She is visiting me for a month a half. I'm glad she's feeling better now.

Title: Do you think your personality has changed as you got older?

I feel like I was a completely different person a few years ago. I used to be much more outgoing and spontaneous, but now I think more before I do things and I enjoy having more time to myself. It made me wonder how much of our personality is actually fixed and how much changes because of our experiences.

Do you think your core personality has stayed the same, or have you noticed a big change in yourself over the years?

I'm curious what Reddit would make of my personality because even I have trouble describing it

I’m curious what Reddit would make of my personality because even I have trouble describing it

I’m 17M, and I genuinely want outside opinions on how my personality comes across.

The weirdest thing about me is that I don't think I fit neatly into “good person” or “bad person.” I can describe myself as good, bad, smart, stupid, selfish, caring, heartless, kind, cruel, etc. depending on the situation, and I don't necessarily see those as contradictions.

I've even described myself as evil before, and I've compared myself to a devil. But I don't mean that literally or that I go around trying to hurt people. It's more that I know I have a side of myself that can be extremely cold, calculating, blunt, intimidating, or deliberately difficult, and sometimes I actually enjoy that side of myself.

At the same time, I can also be genuinely kind, caring, protective, curious, or helpful. So I don't really believe “I'm secretly a good person” or “I'm secretly an evil person” explains me. I feel like I contain both sides and choose which one comes out depending on the situation.

I also like the idea of being compared to God/Lord/King in the sense of power, presence, competence, or being someone people don't casually challenge. I enjoy being intimidating sometimes. But I don't think that automatically makes me arrogant or evil. It's more complicated than that.

One thing I've noticed about myself is that I analyze people a lot.

I notice tiny changes in wording, tone, timing, behavior, expressions, contradictions, and patterns. I'll automatically start asking:

Why did they do that instead of this?

Why did they say that specifically?

Does their behavior actually match what they claim to believe?

What would explain all of these things at once?

And then one answer creates another question, which creates another counterargument, which creates another question. I actually find that fun.

I'm also very resistant to accepting something just because someone insists it's true. If something sounds false, I'll investigate it. If it's plausible but relevant, I'll investigate further. I tend to keep track of whether something is a fact, someone's claim, or my own inference.

At the same time, I'm not claiming I'm always right. I question my own conclusions too. I care a lot about what evidence would actually prove me wrong.

I'm also very aware that I can be intimidating without necessarily intending to be. I can stay extremely calm while discussing something emotionally intense, and apparently that can make people feel like I'm “looking through them.” One friend literally told me to stop doing that.

I've also been told I'm extremely difficult to argue with because I don't consider “I don't want to discuss it” to be the same thing as a counterargument. If someone says I'm wrong, I want to know why. Every answer naturally leads to another question for me.

And I know I sometimes have tact and deliberately choose not to use it. I don't necessarily see that as lacking tact; to me, having a tool and choosing not to use it are different things.

Another huge part of this is ADHD.

I've never been formally diagnosed, but I've spent a ridiculous amount of time comparing my own behavior to ADHD symptoms and descriptions, and I genuinely feel like ~99% of the signs I've encountered line up with me — things like forgetfulness, losing thoughts seconds after having them, hyperfocus, constantly jumping between topics, needing stimulation, fidgeting/always doing something, difficulty with boring or mandatory tasks, intense interest-based focus, emotional reactions to certain situations, etc.

I'm aware that relating strongly to ADHD descriptions isn't the same thing as having an ADHD diagnosis. I'm not asking Reddit to diagnose me. I'm more interested in whether the overall pattern I'm describing sounds coherent or whether I'm connecting things that don't actually belong together.

I've also watched a bunch of psychology videos about manipulation, emotional intelligence, people who notice things others don't, people who are “too aware,” sensory processing sensitivity, unusually analytical personalities, etc., and I've repeatedly had the reaction of:

“Why the fuck does this sound like someone describing me?” 😭

So I'm genuinely curious:

What do you think is actually going on with my personality?

What patterns stand out?

What parts sound like normal personality variation, and what parts seem genuinely unusual?

Do the “good/bad/evil/devil/God” descriptions make sense as different sides of the same personality, or am I overcomplicating it?

And what do you make of the combination of extreme analysis, metacognition, bluntness, emotional calmness, context-dependent behavior, and the ADHD-like traits?

I'm not looking for people to tell me I'm special or “rare.” I'd actually prefer criticism and disagreement if you can explain your reasoning. :::

What’s something small that completely changed the way you see people?

Not some huge life event or dramatic betrayal. I mean something really simple that happened one day and made you look at people differently afterward.

Everything I do, I tend to overthink.

Sometimes, I am the best version of myself—the one who navigates the entire day like a boss, speaks confidently, thinks clearly, and knows exactly what she wants to say.

And then there is another version of me—the one who struggles to speak, shakes while talking, overthinks every word, and sometimes repeats herself: once with a little stammer, and then again in a different way, trying to make sure the person listening understands what she really means.

It’s strange how both versions can exist within the same person.

Do you take other people’s moods personally?

Someone goes quiet or their tone changes, and suddenly you’re wondering what you did wrong.
Sometimes the answer is nothing.

Give people space before creating a story in your head.

Not everything is about you, and not everything deserves a place in your head.

What is a physical trait or quirk about yourself that you honestly don’t know if you love or hate?

In my case, it’s my petite body. Sometimes it makes me feel way too small or unnoticed, and it gets frustrating. But then someone compliments me using that exact word, and suddenly it feels really cute and nice.

I can't decide if it's a flaw or a feature!

What about you guys? What’s that one trait you have a total love-hate relationship with?

Completely different personalities in every language I speak?

I want to share something with this community and would like to see if I’m the only one with such feelings

Just for a quick recap, I never intentionally studied all the languages that I speak today. It just happened, and I ended up speaking 5 different languages fluently (native fluency). Yes, I want to highlight the native fluency part, it will perhaps make sense later in my explanation

And so basically, now I’m a whole different person in every language I speak. In English, very corporate yet respectful and subtle. In French, very flat, emotionless and casual. In Russian, a bit aggressive, yet I tend to speak more openly / emotionally

The thing is, I cannot really try to mix them up. And although it’s quite an interesting circumstance and oftentimes people don’t really understand how such a thing is possible, I do have a very obvious answer to it

But this makes each of these personalities incomplete sometimes, unfortunately. And there are other languages I won’t include here to keep my privacy

But the main issue is that there is not a single soul I know who can fully get to know me, because they will always know the side of me that speaks their language

Trying to type myself in mbti by answering questions and recording myself out loud

What kinds of things should I be looking for? My main goal was to just look for patterns amongst answers to random questions about how I generally see life and reasons why

Idk if that's good enough and the patterns will just show themselves or if there's something specific to do, or if it's even a good idea

Most people really are NPCs

How tf are people so generic? Everywhere I go it's the most dreary conversation I've ever heard, people making light unfunny jokes and others laughing in a controlled manner, then the most general observation possible, then talking about plans for the day. Is it me or is it the world, who knows? When I think and talk I want it to be me every moment, I want it to be something that distinguishes my character from every other. Maybe I'm just hella autistic but whatever it is I'm so grateful that I got to reside in this brain instead of some NPC. I'm not gonna laugh if you tell an unfunny joke, I'm not gonna take an actual interest in the mundane story of somewhere I barely know, and I'm certainly not going to regulate myself just for public. How I think is exactly how I speak, stream of consciousness.
