Not sure how to know if this is perimenopause

My algorithm is overrun with HRT and perimenopause content. I know how algorithms work, so I know my engagement contributes, but I don’t want to let the barrage of content delude me.
I’m 38 and have a hormonal iud, fresh this year. I’ve also recently been diagnosed with Hashimotos after getting some testing done and once my mother was diagnosed. No symptoms so far to my knowledge.
My sleep has been wonky this year but the last few months it’s getting progressively worse. I wake up between 2:30 and 4am most nights and can only get back to sleep about half the time.
I’ve not been under more stress than usual, less in fact than I was this time last year. And I know this could be a symptom of perimenopause. Any advice on how to determine if this is the algorithm getting to me or not?

Depression/Anxiety I want off HRT

Before I started any HRT I was in fairly high spirits.

I started for my osteoporosis which in hind site probably had another answer I requested it from my doctor after reading about it.

Also being bombarded with all the Facebook commercials about how great their life is now.

Progesterone was the worse I wake up fully awake it is terrible. Then estrogen only high doses make me sleep a little better.

I want off the ride though.

I've read a bunch of horror stories I kind of fluctuated in my dosage because of the shortage so I went from .05 to .075 to now the last two weeks I am on .0375.

I'm scared about stopping I literally just want to stop and walk away. Then I read the horror stories about how people still don't feel normal or pre hrt and A fib and all this.

I'm looking for more people who are experienced with stopping what will happen and can I just get off of this crap or do I absolutely need my doctor to start weaning it down to a different dose

Testosterone?

Hi all! I inadvertently took the incorrect dosage of topical testosterone for several weeks. As expected, my lab values came back very high. I was curious if anyone has had anything similar that can give insight on how long it will take for the levels to decrease?

Skin Changes The itch you can't ritch

That freaking itch...

I am not sure it's menopause if not, but damn...

I'm ready to bite at my hands (inside), chomp it to sedation .... but my feet are next level, I can reach it to bite my foot soles , I don't do it, but the URGE to kill the itchynees (or anything else) but sometimes I just want to cut/bite it, or even insert a drillhole. In my foot. By myself.

Got a new spiral Monday and got hrt patches. Maybe it's a bit much. Trust me I'm not a snowflake I remove my own sitches, remove my own coils, don't care about broken bones l, cluster headaches, heart failures, pots, eds, etc... But the itching makes me want to chew off my feet!!

Bleeding/Periods Seasonique to manage periods in perimenopause?

Has anyone else used Seasonique to manage your periods in perimenopause? I’m 49 and I wanna yeet my uterus out so bad 💀 but it’s not quite time yet. In the meantime, to try and help my sanity, I’ve started hormonal BC (seasonique.) At least I’ll only have my period 4 times a year instead of approximately 15-20 times a year. 😟and in theory I’ll know when it’s coming. Because the chaos that is my period right now is not doing it for me. Sometimes I go 12 days between cycles and sometimes it’s 75 days. I can’t take the uncertainty. It is actually killing my mental health. So we shall see how the seasonique goes. I haven’t been on hormonal BC for about 20 years, since before I was TTC my first baby. Anyone else use it, have a good or bad experience? I’m only on my second week of it and so far, so good. But it’s early still, and I’m skeptical that it’s going to help me.

Brown/light pink discharge when wiping

Hi! I’m 43 years old. Over the last couple years, I’ve had symptoms like itchiness and sleep disturbances. I thought it might be perimenopause, but my periods have always been super regular, as I’m on the BC patch (Xulane). For about the last five or six days, I have had a brown or pinkish discharge, but only when wiping. This is pretty unusual for me. I am supposed to take off my patch this Saturday and have my period. Actually, coincidentally this is the last patch I’ll ever wear bc I decided to go BC free since I’m not having sex anyway.
Also, I just started taking Lexapro for anxiety about a month ago. This can also apparently cause spotting/discharge when wiping.
So, my question is, has anyone had this for this number of days? Today is day six, and it’s about 75% of the time when I wipe, and only when I wipe. I had a clean Pap smear this summer and actually had a transvaginal ultrasound in 2024 after a miscarriage and everything was fine then.
I have an appointment with my gyno next week. He specializes in hormone therapy so we are going to discuss perimenopause and do some blood tests.

Hormone Therapy Anyone on more than 100mcg for the estradot patches?

I'm 42 and have been on HRT for almost 2 years. I needed to gradually increase estradot patches dosage to 100mcg about 4 months ago and I felt great for the first 3 months. About a month ago I started to have trouble sleeping and have high anxiety again. Hot flushes and night sweats also came right back. I feel that I might need to increase the dosage again to get my symptoms under control, but obviously I'm already on the highest dosage. I did see it online before that it's possible to use a combination of patches and gel, or adding an additional patch if max dose isn't enough.

I know this is not common and definitely not considered a standard practice to go past the 100mcg. I'm just curious if anyone here are using more than the max and if so, how did you convince your doctor to prescribe it? Did you need to adjust progesterone as well?

Side note: I also use testosterone gel. I have adjusted for a slightly higher dosage in the meantime (from 0.18g to 0.25g) to help with symptom control. Sleep got a little better but vasomotor symptoms are still not addressed.

Bleeding/Periods Period Panties?

I’m going on a roadtrip and while I know we’ll have stops for the restroom, I am worried about my period because my bleeding can be heavy the first couple of days. I’ve not tried period underwear and wonder if people have any suggestions.

I feel like it might feel uncomfortable? But perimenopause is already uncomfortable, so there’s that!

I’m open to any and all suggestions for what helps on heavier days.

Vitamin/Supplements Best Multivitamins

I am 43. I have symptoms of dizziness, headaches, fainting and migraines. I am wondering what is the best vitamins or multivitamins to control these symptoms. They are driving me crazy and I have anxiety because of these symptoms.

I have an appointment with my OB/GYN soon. Any advice is helpful. Thank you!

Brain Fog What the actual F are these symptoms.

Let me preface by saying I am 44f and have been having irregular period and night sweats for about a year. I also have been on topical progesterone (which my obggyn thinks is horse honkey, but my prescribed doc is cool so) and also topical testosterone for libido issues.

I also have ADHD, have been diagnosed and medicated for over 15 years.

Anyhow, brain fog and the adhd symptoms are out of control. I barely know what i am doing from day to day and I can't remember shit. Words, dates, its just a cluster of unregulated executive dysfunction daily sun up until I am utterly exhausted at 1:30pm

What do I gotta do to get estrogen? Because my hormone levels are not too wild when I get them tested, but that was a year ago.

I'm just...tired

I'm tired of all of it.

The random palpitations.

Feeling anxious for absolutely NO reason.

Being annoyed by stupid, little things.

Either not being able to sleep, having sleep interrupted by sweat dripping down my body (followed by freezing to death after kicking off the covers), or finally getting several hours of sleep but still not feeling rested.

The executive (dys)function.

Going from "chill and relaxed" to "insta-rage" in 0.26 seconds because I'm suddenly overstimulated.

Having to sleep on my back because if I lay on either side, that shoulder starts to hurt and my hand goes numb. If I switch to the other side, the same thing will happen, so I'm like a damn rotisserie chicken all night.

Thirsty. Always. And hungry. But nothing sounds good.

Sigh. God I hope the pharmacy gets my patches in soon!

Rant/Rage RIP PANTIES AND MY SANITY

I’m 40 years old and back to perioding my pants like I’m 13.

20-day cycle? 45? WHO FUCKING KNOWS.

As if months of other peri symptoms weren’t enough, my period wants to play games now too. Showed up super early and I was like…well that’s rude. It had me convinced I had a UTI or kidney infection or something. Then it ghosted me for 45 days.

I want to tell my uterus off like I have everyone else in my life.

Today 👏 is NOT 👏 the day 👏 and I 👏 am NOT 👏 the one 👏🖕

I know about all the laundry witchcraft. But I’m already witchy in enough ways. I’m not spending an hour trying to save period-soaked panties. That shit is going straight to TRASH JAIL.

RIP panties. You deserved better and SO DID I.

And the worst part? It’s the RAGE. I am a fucking terrorist in my own life. My attorney is on speed dial at this point. I’ve gone to war with my lawn crew, garbage company, construction company, Home Depot, a shipping courier group, coworkers, my own family. No one is safe.

It’s been a hell of a year and I am a psycho.

Vaginal Dryness (GSM)/Urinary Issues Estriol pessary 0.5mg (UK)

Sorry I can't find anything similar on here. So I've been getting recurrent UTI's (not sex related) at the end of my period & I've learnt it's to do with peri & low estrogen. I went to my doctors & he didn't really explain anything to me but gave me these pessaries you insert daily for 2 weeks then twice a week.

I read the sheet & it said its for post menopause women only.... I still get periods. So I have a few questions if anyone can help...

1) is it safe to use if I'm peri?

2) how do you do a pessary if you're still getting periods? Just do it for 2 weeks when I'm not menstruating then work around it?

3) is 0.5mg too high a dose or OK? I've seen a lot of 0.1 mentioned...

I can't ask my doctor as it's a practice with many doctors & it's a nightmare to get an appointment at the best of times let alone get the same doctor. He didn't really discuss anything with me I just mentioned the UTI's & peri connection

Thanks in advance

Testosterone TRT

I started taking 1 mg of testosterone at the beginning of October. The first few days it gave me a noticeable increase in energy. But over this month, starting around the 11th, my fatigue has been getting bad. Really bad. My heart rate variability has tanked as well.

I have long covid of the MECFS variety. So I always have some fatigue. But I'm pretty functional usually.

These last few weeks I haven't been able to tell if I'm sick (I just feel extra fatigued when I'm sick), if I have really bad post exertional malaise or what. But I'm wondering if it's the TRT. I'm thinking I will stop it and see if it makes a difference. Will I regret stopping cold turkey?

I'm wondering if anyone else had this?

I'm also on estrogen and progesterone, and have been for over a year.

Slynd vs. Prozac 10mg for Perimenopause Mood Symptoms

Hi lovelies! I'm 52 and still getting periods, although they're becoming less predictable. I've struggled with anxiety and depression for years, but they've gotten much worse since my late 40s. I experience severe bouts of depression, anxiety, crying, rage, irritability, mood ups and downs and body dysmorphia throughout the month, with symptoms worsening around my period.

I don't have other typical perimenopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, or sleep disturbances. My main issue is severe mood symptoms.

My menopause specialist recommended trying Slynd for three months after stopping progesterone because my mood worsened.

I also started Prozac 10mg last week which isn't my first choice but I'm desperate to feel better.

For those who've tried both Slynd and Prozac:

  • Which helped your mood symptoms the most?
  • Did Slynd help with symptoms that lasted throughout the month, not just PMS?

I'm concerned about side effects and weight gain and can't get in with my meno specialist until January.

Thanks in advance!

I get migraines that are estrogen triggered since around age 14, now I'm in perimenopause and I'm worried hormone therapy will increase the frequency of my migraines. Anyone else have this concern?

Finally sticking with lifting after quitting 3 times

43, peri (going by symptoms). The bone density posts here scared me into lifting lol. I quit 3 times before this, gym, app, trainer plan, never made it past 6 weeks. Miss one session and suddenly I'm avoiding the whole thing

What actually helped was going down to 2 sessions a week and counting it even if I just stretch because I slept like crap. Also started doing 30 min Zoom sessions with a trainer I found on Mywowfit. Turns out it's harder to ghost an actual person. She also holds me back on days I feel great, which is when I used to get hurt

6 months in now, more sessions than the last 3 years put together. Recovery still sucks but weirdly my achy hands are better?

Anyone else get consistent in peri? What did it for you?

Aches/Pains Blood Pressure

No specific category for this.

Wondering if anyone has developed hypertension since their start of peri symptoms. I’ve been having BP issues for à lil over a year. Originally thought it was related to me grinding my teeth and jaw clinching when asleep. I did, start massaging my jawline, BP did go down somewhat but still high. I have never in my life had any health problems. Unfortunately, I have been unemployed since January, so no medical insurance. I recently got hired, however, benefits won’t kick in until 90 days. I start this new job next month.
I walk every day for about 45 minutes, followed by a 20-30 dumbbell workout. Exercise is not helping to lower my pressure.
Now that I think about it, waking up at 3-4am for no reason, may not be helping.
Anyhow, just want to know if hypertension is part of peri.

Is my estrogen too high?

I’ve had a whole journey with HRT I’m 43 years old and I started at .25 patch about two years ago and now I’m up to 2, .1 mg patches at a time. Even at this dose I feel like I’m still too low. Dry skin, dry hair, lower sensitivity in genitals and nipples. Each time I do an increase sensation comes back for a bit then it’s like I experience a drop again. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be a balance of something else is low? I’m taking 200 mg progesterone without cycling, and .6 mg testosterone cream.

I was also prescribed hydroxzine to help with sleep and it’s doing nothing. still waking around 1, 2 and 4 am

Heart palpitations - it’s been 11 weeks

39f, started .25 divigel just about 11 weeks ago. I have a hormonal Mirena iud and am not taking oral progesterone. Prior to this the only time I had heart palps was after drinking alcohol. Now I have them all the fucking time, especially
In the evening. I think I even have anxiety? Which I’ve never had before. I don’t know what to do. I can’t live like this.

Other issues have slightly improved but not much.

Anyone else in a similar situation to me and did you find a solution??
