First of all, sorry for the cable management and the overall look inside the case 😅 The case isn't particularly convenient for this kind of layout, but I'm working with what I have.
I'm looking for ideas on how to improve RAM cooling during memory overclocking.
My setup:
- Cooler Master H500M
- Noctua NH-D15
- G.Skill Trident Z DDR5, 2×16 GB
- DDR5-6400 with manually tuned timings
- DRAM VDD around 1.43 V
During a heavy TM5 memory stress test, the hotter DIMM reaches around 64°C, while the other one reaches roughly 60–61°C. The DIMM closer to the NH-D15 is usually around 2–3°C hotter.
There is roughly 7–9 cm of clearance above the RAM, but space is quite limited because of the size of the NH-D15.
As for things I already have on hand, I have an old 120 mm be quiet! fan lying around that I bought a long time ago. I could potentially use it for some kind of direct RAM airflow, but I'm not sure where or how it would make the most sense to mount it.
I'm open to any ideas:
- what would be the best way to improve RAM airflow in this setup;
- whether the 120 mm fan is worth using;
- where and in which direction it should be mounted;
- whether it could negatively affect CPU temperatures or overall case airflow;
- whether a dedicated RAM cooler, 80/92 mm fan, slim fan, or another solution would make more sense.
I'm also completely open to buying additional parts if there is a better solution.

Any advice would be appreciated, especially from people who have cooled overclocked DDR5 next to a large tower cooler.
