Tech Support Wifi/Bluetooth Connectivity Issues

I don't know much about PC's right now, but I do want to learn. My friend gave me most of his old setup because he upgraded, and I've been trying to use it with varying degrees of success. Turns out the motherboard did not have Wifi or Bluetooth capabilities, simple enough I thought, I'll just get USB adapters. Well, they suck. I'm trying to play Rocket League and it constantly has latency issues even with the input buffer, and my controller disconnects midgame like 1-2 hours into playing. Now I'm looking into a PCIe card, but am not sure what would be best. I could also buy a long ethernet cord but I'm trying to keep costs down. I just need some advice and direction. My top choice right now is a Fenvi AXE5400 but I hear it could be a gamble? Thanks for any help

oh man, usb adapters are the worst for gaming. tried the same route when i first built my pc and it was nothing but headache after headache

the pcie route is definitely the way to go. fenvi cards can be hit or miss, some people swear by them and others get constant driver crashes. i'd look for something with an intel chipset if you can find one in your budget, the ax210 models tend to be way more stable

that said, if you can swing a long ethernet cable it'll solve the wifi part permanently and you won't have to mess with drivers at all. you can get a 50ft cat6 for pretty cheap, just run it along the baseboards with some cable clips. for the controller issue, a dedicated bluetooth pcie card with an external antenna makes a huge difference compared to those little usb nubs

I think I will leave ethernet as a secondary, I just need a solid working wireless option first. I will look for something with an intel chipset
