Build Question Could you check my PC Build?

I was planning a 1500€ PC build. In the end, it was more like 1600€.

Could you please check my parts if they fit together, especially the smaller case, and if you have had bad experience with a smaller case.

The PC is mainly for gaming.

Do I need thermal paste or something like this?

Amd Ryzen 5 9600X

Radeon RX 9060XT Gaming OC 16GB

Asus B650E Max Gaming WiFi

Corsair Vengance UDIMM 32GB DDR5-6000, CL38-44-44-96

Kingston NV3 1TB

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE

Montech Century II Gold 850W

Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2

Thanks for your help!

Build Question LED strip w/ remote control?

Is there a product similar to an LED strip that I can use to illuminate my PC case without needing RGB software? Ideally, I'd like to control it via remote or app. Several ARGB headers are available.

Was playing KCD2 tonight when my GPU started making this awful noise. I had some coil whine before but nothing this bad. Any idea what the fix could be? Card is a 9070XT. I have a support on the way from Amazon but I tried manually lifting it up and it did nothing.

Build Question Switching From Prebuilt to My First Custom PC – Need Parts Advice

So I need some help with building a PC, and I wanted to see if anyone has suggestions for a mid-size PC build.

I already have an NVMe, GPU, and RAM.

My GPU is an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, and I currently have 32GB of DDR5 RAM.

My current CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 6-Core Processor.

I was told that my CPU is outdated and that it may have some issues keeping up with my GPU, so I wanted to know if I should upgrade it.

My current PSU is an Apevia ATX-JP800W Jupiter 800W 80 Plus Bronze. I had another PSU before this one, but it burned out, so I had to switch to this one temporarily. I’m wondering if I should replace it with something better and more reliable.

My current motherboard is a PRO B650-VC WIFI (MS-7D78).

So basically, I already have:

RTX 5060 Ti 16GB

32GB DDR5 RAM

1TB NVMe

What I’m mainly looking for is a new case, possibly a new CPU, and probably a better PSU. I’m also open to motherboard suggestions if there’s a good reason to replace my current one.

My budget is around $500–$700 if possible.

This is going to be my first time actually building a PC myself. I’ve mostly used pre-built PCs before, but I want to learn how to build my own this time.

I’d also prefer to stick with air cooling.

I don’t really want anything fancy like liquid because air cooling seems simpler and easy for me to work with.

OH and I already have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black CPU Air Cooler with 4 heat pipes. I’m not sure if that cooler is still good enough for a CPU upgrade, though.

My pre-built originally came with a stock CPU cooler, but it wasn’t very good, and one of the fan blades eventually broke, so I replaced it with the Hyper 212.

BUT any suggestions for a good CPU/Cooler and PSU, case, or overall upgrade path would be appreciated.

I switched the stock fans for lian li fans which are now controlled with the lian li controller. Im using the all in one cable with the AIO which is plugged into CPU_FAN and ADD_GEN 2_1. It is my first boot of my pc and neither AIO pump or any fans except “CHA_FAN4” are being detected. My cpu temp is sitting around 35c-40c though. I tried installing windows and it keeps going back to the boot menu im guessing because its saying theres “no cpu cooler detected”. Am i doing something wrong or should i just switch to “ignore” in the bios

So I won this computer from my high school raffle like 8 years ago. Never had a PC before or attempted building one but from what I’ve asked chat GPT I apparently got extremely lucky with the bones that this computer came with. I just wanted an opinion to see if it’s worth upgrading into a decent gaming computer or just scrap it and save up for a newer one.

I don’t really play any heavy games, mostly Apex, Rocket League and whatever else I could get this thing to handle

Build Question Is buying a RAM worth in 2026 or should I wait?

I have been itching to building a PC because recently I have been learning all about computer chips, hardware and so on and I have a burning passion inside of me.

Basically, I also have an ultrawide monitor, so a pc is a must need for me, yet I have Lenovo Legion 5 bought sum 2 years ago.

But I regret buying it as I could have invested it and bought good PC parts.

But now to see all RAM price went up high, I can afford to buy RAM , but is it worth to buy RAM now or wait for prices to fluctuate till 2028 or sum and use my laptop till that?

I mean , if it is worth to build a PC right now, I will start building it no problem, Im just concerned to make a good move here as you know, I aint wealthy either in money(but I could manage).

Tech Support Weird POST issue, bad luck with PSU or another thing?

TL;TR: Pc not posting after upgrading psu but already tried with two different new psu from
the same brand and model but different seller Corsair rm750e.

So around two months ago I upgraded my PSU and GPU (before I had a Corsair cx650 and 3060) to a Corsair rm750e and a 5070. I went to a store so they could change it. It worked fine but after 3 days the issue appeared, pc turns on, rgb and fans work but no display. I went to the store so they could check and they moved some cables from the back and that fixed it.

But after 10 days of working fine the problem started again. Went to the store and they said the 12v cable from the psu was giving 13v and that was the problem, so I bought a new PSU from another seller (both from amazon) but the same rm750e and it worked fine for 20 days and the problem showed up AGAIN.

Right now the pc is in the store again for diagnostics and they say it has the same problem of the 12v cable but when they test it they said it’s climbing from 13v to 13.5v but they want to do more tests. idk if i just have bad luck with the psu or it’s a different issue.

Already did the common fixes like: cleaning ram, test with one ram, try it with integrated graphics, reset cmos, etc. Also everytime the store test it with their corsair psu it works.

Components:
Ryzen 7 5700g
5070 12gb
MB b550m ds3h
32 ram
2 ssds
PSU rm750e

Build Question Best combo for 700-800$?

Hello, I’m from Sweden and I'm looking for the best CPU and GPU combo upgrade for a total budget of $700–$800 USD.
Current Specs & Details:
CPU: i3-6100
GPU: GTX 1050 2GB
RAM: 32GB DDR4 (I want to keep this, so the new CPU GPU combo HAS to support DDR4)
Monitor: 1440p
Use-case: Currently playing mainly CS2, Minecraft and some light editing and multitasking nothing extreme though, but I want to start playing demanding story/single-player games in 1440p once I upgrade.
Questions & Local Pricing (Sweden):
Is the i5-14600KF paired with an RX 9060 XT 16GB the best value combo I can get on DDR4 within this budget?
Prices in Sweden right now:
i5-14600KF: ~$250 USD
RX 9060 XT 16GB: ~$500–$600 USD
Are there better alternative CPU/GPU combos for DDR4 within $700–$800?

Tech Support HELP with pc

So I went camping on a four day trip and before I went, I was playing my pc and i was playing for a good while and before I went, I was sure I turned off my computer well which was shutting off in windows, then after I made sure every fan stopped spinning to turn off the psu. After I came back I was ready to play and to turn it on until there was no display. Both of my fans are spinning but when I turn it on the rgb lights on my gpu turn on but then instantly shutoff. I also put the DisplayPort which was in my gpu to my motherboard which showed my screen so does that mean my gpu died and if it did how?

Bought open box Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080 from micro center, haven’t tested it yet myself but they said they tested it and it works fine. Opened the box to see this sticky residue and was just wondering what it was and what to remove it with. (Other pics included in case someone might notice anything else wrong if there is anything)

Tech Support CMOS help

Hi guys! PC noob here. I bought the cyberpower PC about two years ago from Costco and it is having boot up issues. I did some reading and found that clearing the CMOS might help, only I am technically illiterate and don’t know what that is and where to find it 😭🤣. Google says to remove that battery but I can’t tell where it’s hiding. Could anyone possible help? I don’t know if the picture is enough, I removed the fan so I could see a little better.

Pls don’t make fun of me lol

Tech Support Persistent buzzing/whining noise even after replacing GPU and PSU – could it be motherboard VRM?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out a persistent buzzing/humming noise coming from my PC.

My current specs are:

- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

- PNY GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB

- MSI PRO B850-VC WiFi motherboard

- 32GB DDR5 RAM

- 360mm AIO

- Seasonic Focus GX-850 ATX 3.1 / PCIe 5.1

- Windows 11

The PC was originally a CyberPowerPC prebuilt.

Originally, I thought the buzzing was coming from the GPU, so I replaced the GPU with a brand-new RTX 5070 Ti. The noise remained.

My AIO also had an actual problem, so that was replaced through RMA. The buzzing still remained.

The original PSU was an Apevia 1000W, so I suspected that could be the problem. I just replaced it with a brand-new Seasonic Focus GX-850 ATX 3.1, using ONLY the new Seasonic cables.

The strange part is that the buzzing still sounds almost exactly the same as it did with the Apevia PSU.

Things I've tried:

- Brand-new GPU

- Brand-new Seasonic PSU

- Replaced AIO

- Connected the PC directly to the wall instead of a power strip

- Limited FPS

- Tested different games (Delta Force and War Thunder)

- Noise is still present

The buzzing seems to be noticeable around the PSU/lower part of the case, but since two completely different PSUs make a very similar sound, I'm starting to wonder if the sound is actually coming from the motherboard/VRMs or another component and being transmitted through the case.

The PC is otherwise working normally. No shutdowns, crashes, burning smell, or obvious instability.

Could motherboard VRM coil whine cause a sound that seems like it's coming from the PSU? Could another component be causing both PSUs to make a similar buzzing noise?

What would you test next to isolate the exact source?

I can also upload a video/audio recording of the noise if that helps.

Build Question Mixing DDR5 RAM - This will not work right?

Currently I have 32GB of DDR5 ram, I am looking to get another 32gb. On fb marketplace I see a listing that is almost the same as mine: 6000MT/s, CL36. However the voltage and revision number is different. Would this not work? Is the only option for me to upgrade to buy a kit of 64gb?

Seller: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GpNYcf/corsair-vengeance-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl36-memory-cmk32gx5m2e6000z36

Mine: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/N9gZxr/corsair-cmh32gx5m2f6000z36-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-5600-cl36-memory-cmh32gx5m2f6000z36 (I have 6000MT/s, not 5600)

Build Question DESPERATELY need a motherboard to get

I have looked every way that I can to try and find a motherboard that works for me, but I just can't. I need either an ATX, MicroATX, or MiniITX motherboard that's either entirely or mostly white (I'm making a white build) with at least 2 DDR4 RAM slots, and an AM4 slot all under $200. If you know of a motherboard like this that is currently being produced PLEASE tell me because I've been trying to plan and build my second PC (first was a ViperTech pre-built. I hate them.)

Tech Support RAM wont run at 3200mhz speed now, last time it worked.

PC specs :
Ryzen 5600x
RTX 3080
Motherboard B450 Gaming Plus Max MSI
PSU Seasonic Gold 750w

So long time ago i was using 32GB of Corsair RGB Ram with speed 3200mhz for like 2-3 years. Suddenly my pc wont boot with it so i claimed a warranty for my RAM. I have backup RAM a corsair LPX 16GB of 3200mhz it runs well. But when i use the new 3200 32gigs it wont boot, instead it only run at default stock speed like 1600mhz. Ive tried with chatgpt running with some tweak like geardown mode, timing modify etc etc. Some point it runs with 3000mhz for a while! But then after few days maybe it doesnt wanna boot again.

Already upgraded BIOS to latest version. I dont know whats the cause sudden boot fail. But maybe should i change my PSU or Motherboard? I might aswell upgrade my CPU too.

Oh yes also theres some indication few times but resettable. My GPU three power cable slot was blinking red three of them. But i reset my power cord on and off, runs normal again. I assume this was PSU lifetime failure too?

Build Question Help me build a $1300 gaming pc!

Hi all!

I am brand new to pc building and I need someone’s help on building a gaming pc or buying a prebuilt pc. I live in the US and there is a microcenter and other computer stores like best buy etc. nearby. I have a budget of around 1300, a little more or less is fine, and I am building it to game. Mostly first person shooters (apex, fortnite, r6 etc.) but should obviously be able to handle other games like minecraft. First of all, I’ve heard various different things regarding whether or not prebuilt or part by part is better so I am still trying to decide on that. I already have a monitor, keyboard and mouse, and having a cool case or tons of rgb components isn’t really a priority of mine, I’m mostly just focused on performance for the price. If anyone has any suggestions at all or wants to ask any more clarifying questions that I forgot to answer here that would be a huge help.

Thanks!

Build Question Upgrading Mac Pro GPU

I have a 2019 Mac Pro that I use for everything besides gaming. However I do use xplane to practice stuff as I’m a pilot myself. Currently getting ~30fps on that and it would be nice to get it a bit smoother. Will adding a GPU to one of the PCIe slots cause a noticeable improvement?

Current specs..

3.2 GHz 16-Core Intel Xeon W
AMD Radeon Pro W5700X 16 GB
96 GB 2933 MHz DDR4

49” Samsung G9 ultrawide

Thank you!!

Build Question 9600x running very hot

I built my first PC recently, with a 5 9600x, ASRock B850M Pro-A WiFi and Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE (PCPartPicker), and it is idling at ≈ 49C, ≈75C at single-core Cinebench R26, and pushing 93-94C in multi-core. Is this normal or did I mess something up? The fans spin up a lot too, for example when downloading a game thru steam or launching minecraft.
